Fog lamps VAZ 2114 and VAZ 2115: which is better to choose

As you know, traffic safety is greatly influenced by the quality of road lighting. At the same time, fog lights can provide a noticeable improvement in visibility in difficult weather conditions (rain, fog, etc.)

Drivers also actively use PTF in the dark as a supplement to the head beam or high beam. However, not all cars are equipped with fog lights from the factory. Unfortunately, the popular VAZ 2114 and VAZ 2115 may not have PTF.

Naturally, owners of such cars often install fog lights themselves. Next, we will look at which fog lights for the VAZ 2114 are better to choose, what to look for when purchasing fog lights for the VAZ 2115, etc.

Which PTFs shine better?

High-quality fog lights should have an almost horizontal beam of light.
If you have “China” at your disposal, then you will immediately notice the difference. The best PTF in our case is optics produced by Kirzhach (Avtosvet), but there are many fakes, so it is important and necessary to distinguish a fake from the original, because sellers will sell you the first product they come across

Hella products have also proven themselves quite well, but due to their high cost they are in little demand.

Fog lights (FTL) are an optics unit that can be located either as an assembly with the main headlight of the car, or placed separately - most often at the edges of the bumper. Fog lights are designed to illuminate the side of the road and the road in difficult weather conditions: when the rays of low and high beam are reflected against the thickness of the fog, thereby creating a wall of light in front of the car, then fog lights give a flat and wide beam that spreads exactly above the road so as not to illuminate the fog itself. In addition to illuminating your path in difficult weather conditions, fog lights also help make you more visible to other road users.

There are also rear fog lights - but, as a rule, this is an ordinary red light, the same as the side light, but 2-3 times brighter. The “luxury” versions of Samar 2114, 2113, 2115 are equipped from the factory with front PTFs, which are located at the edges of the bumper.

Owners of the standard equipment install the front PTFs with their own hands, and how to do this for you will be discussed below.

In fact, the headlights on the VAZ 2114 2113 2115 are very bad; at night you drive almost blind! Therefore, young people install xenon in the headlights, install PTF - and xenon in them! =) And older car owners are content with simply installing PTF! By the way, the head light for the VAZ 2114 also comes from different manufacturers, but which one to choose? You will find the answers here: Kirzhach or Bosch?

The lineup

Having decided on the criteria, you can choose fog lights for the VAZ 2114, which ones are better and of higher quality. Of the existing PTFs, the following models are most often installed on the VAZ 2114:

  • VAZ;
  • Autosvet (Kirzhach);
  • Bosch;
  • Hella;
  • Chinese PTF.

None Avtosvet (Kirzhach) headlights are considered optimal in terms of quality and cost, but when purchasing they need to be checked so that the headlights do not turn out to be fake.

If you install Bosch headlights, they must be additionally sealed in the area of the bolts under the glass, otherwise water may get under the headlights. Hella headlights are considered to have the best performance, but they are expensive.

Chinese headlights are cheaper than all analogues. They are mainly used as a replacement for low beams to indicate navigation lights during daylight hours.

Why do you need PTF on the VAZ 2114?

Fog rarely extends to the ground, so a small layer of clear air remains between it and the earth's surface. Fog lights form a beam of light that is narrow in the vertical plane (but wide in the horizontal plane), which is directed parallel to the road surface. Thus, the PTF VAZ 2114 illuminates the fog from below and the road is well illuminated. A wide beam of light improves visibility of the roadside and side markings, which helps you avoid leaving the roadway. There is a common misconception that effective PTFs can only be made with yellow steles. In reality, both yellow and white headlights illuminate the road equally well. These colors are distinguished by the maximum light energy in the spectrum, in contrast to red, green or other light radiation. It should be remembered that even the best “fog lights” are not a panacea. In heavy fog, with correctly adjusted PTFs, visibility does not exceed 10 meters, but this is quite enough, considering the speed of movement. In some cases, cars are equipped with red rear PTFs, which improve visibility of the car during fog.

Installation and connection of fog lights is done in 3 stages:

  • installation of PTF in the bumper;
  • connecting wiring to the mounting block via a relay;
  • installing a button in the panel.

Wiring diagram for fog lights

Well, I think everything is clear here! The diagram is not complete: the mass of the PTFs themselves on the body is not indicated, which must be done without fail. You need to secure the mass in a safe place, naturally on metal! Before fastening, be sure to clean the metal from dirt and tighten the mass well so that there is no loss of tension. Otherwise, the PTF will burn dimly and unevenly.

Installing fog lights in the bumper

As stated above, you have two options - either install a new bumper with ready-made cutouts for the PTF, or cut it yourself with a jigsaw. To do this, remove the bumper, mark the mounting holes, and cut with a jigsaw.

Next, we install the “glasses” - they cover the cutout on the outside of the bumper, they consist of two parts: a decorative one - outer and inner - attaches the glasses to the bumper using side latches and holds the PTF. (How to remove the bumper?)

Connecting wiring to the mounting block via a relay

  1. First of all, open the hood, find the mounting block and unscrew its two fastenings to the body on the sides, remove the cover from the mounting block.
  2. From the bottom of the mounting block, unfasten the two outer wire blocks marked “7” and “8”.
  3. Take the installation kit: put the wires from the kit on the relay.
  4. We add the other ends of the wires to the block of wires “7” and “8” according to the diagram.
  5. We plug the wire blocks back into the mounting block and fasten it back to its original place
  6. Next, we attach the relay to the car body in any place you like: for example, next to the same mounting block.
  7. We run a length of wire from the mounting block blocks (which we have already installed) to the fog lights and connect them. We also attach a lot of foglights to the car body.

Installing a button in a panel

To install the button (which comes with the mounting kit), you need to partially disassemble the front panel.

Fortunately, the factory came to the rescue and installed wiring for the PTF in all Samar configurations, so all we have to do is remove the center console and find a block in the wiring for connecting the button.

To disassemble the panel, use the article: How to remove the instrument panel and remove only the center console:

Next, find the wiring block - install the button, assemble the panel.

Next, we check the headlights for functionality.

Do not forget that the fog lights turn on only after the side lights are turned on!

After installing the PTFs, they need to be configured and adjusted!

Do-it-yourself repair or installation

Replacing a light bulb is not difficult, but installing new glass to replace a broken one is impossible without dismantling the headlight. The fastening to the bumper is elementary, with only two screws, but the glass is firmly glued to the headlight body.

When replacing it, the junction with the body is filled with sealant. By the way, it is better to change the glass immediately after a crack appears on it, otherwise the coating applied to the body will quickly peel off and you will have to buy a new device. The video or set of photos on how to change a headlight or light bulb on this page will help you, but I ask you to pay attention to some points:

  1. You need to install xenon in the fog lamp with caution. If the low beam intensity is set in GOST to its minimum values, then there is a limitation for fog lights. It should be approximately 3 times weaker than the worst devices.
  2. You can cut rectangular holes in the plastic bumper with an ordinary knife. It’s also easy to build beauty frames. Therefore, buying and installing such headlights yourself is not difficult. But if the car wiring does not provide for their connection, then it is better to contact specialists. According to the rules, it is impossible to connect fog lights to the simplest toggle switch. They should light up only after the side lights are turned on. Where is the relay that implements this sequence of turning on the lighting devices in practice, and how to connect the headlights to the electrical circuit, an auto electrician knows much better than a simple car enthusiast. There is a button for turning on the fog lights on the instrument panel, but connecting wires to it is a labor-intensive process that requires certain qualifications. In addition, being too clever with the wiring can lead to a short circuit, and repairs, in this case, will cost much more.

Selection of body and main criteria when selecting PTF VAZ

When choosing a PTF VAZ 2114 or for any other car, it is important to consider what kind of lamp will be installed in the fog lights, why fog lights are installed, etc. As a rule, such headlights themselves can be in a plastic, aluminum or magnesium housing. It is quite obvious that aluminum and magnesium are more reliable and durable, but they are also more expensive. Fog lights may also have a plastic or glass light diffuser. Plastic products are resistant to damage, but quickly turn yellow and cloudy, and light transmittance decreases

As a result, after just a couple of years, the quality of road lighting deteriorates.

PTFs with glass lenses last longer, but often the glass cracks due to temperature changes (especially when installing diode lamps) or as a result of mechanical damage. One way or another, it is advisable to select models where the diffuser can be replaced separately without changing the entire body.

We also note that if the car is used actively or in difficult conditions (for example, driving on the highway at high speed or driving on bad roads), when choosing, it is better to choose PTF models, which can be closed with special foglight plugs made of plastic to protect against stones, etc. d.

Now let's move on to the choice. To decide which fog lights to install on the VAZ 2114, first of all, you should choose a reliable housing. As you know, the condition of roads in the Russian Federation and the CIS is poor, so PTF made from a material resistant to damage and temperature changes will be the best solution. If there are protective plugs, this will be an additional plus. The kit should also include good quality fasteners, wires, and relays.

The fogs themselves should provide the widest possible spot of light, distribute the light evenly, with a minimum of losses due to refraction and dispersion of the light flux. It should also be possible to adjust and adjust the light spot (both vertically and horizontally) so as not to blind drivers of oncoming cars. Even if the lamp burns out, access for replacement should be easy. This allows you to quickly change the llama yourself.

We also note that when choosing PTF 2114 or 2115, as well as for other cars, it is important to take into account their power. The fact is that fogs that are too powerful can create a large load on the generator and wiring. As a rule, 55 W lamps are sufficient

As a rule, 55 W lamps are sufficient

If the PTF is lensed (fog lights with a lens), you need to pay special attention to the quality of the lens, the reliability of its fixation, etc.

Finally, we note that when choosing PTF, it is also important that such headlights have acceptable aerodynamic performance and fit well into the overall exterior of the car. As practice shows, car enthusiasts install domestic fog lights VAZ or Avtosvet as PTF on VAZ 2114. The list of imported solutions includes Bosch or Hella, as well as various Chinese PTFs

Also, VAZ 2114 or 2115 are often equipped with standard PTFs from Samara, Niva, Priora, etc.

In fact, Avtosvet products are considered a high-quality budget option

However, it is important to remember that non-original fakes are often found. If we talk about expensive headlights, then Hella is a recognized leader, but the price for Hella PTFs is quite high.

Fashionable novelty - Led fog lamps //Comparison with bosch //installation nuances //adjustment

I ordered myself an ultra fashionable new product “Sal-Man 30W Led Fogs”.

They are delivered in the following box:

Packed very well, the fogs themselves look very high quality, the radiator is metal, there is a moisture separator, excellent height adjustment, sealed insulation on the wires (water will not get inside through the wires)

Before starting the installation, I took a photo of how my Bosch fogs with Osram lamps shine:

Now let's move on to the installation nuances: Before starting the installation, I completely screwed the adjustment up (which I did in vain, because the adjustment stroke is very large compared to the Bosch). When I screwed on the fog lamp, its tilt (adjustment) somehow got confused. I found out experimentally that the adjustment on the back side of the fog lamp rests on the fog lamp fastener. I didn’t think long and sawed off an unnecessary piece of plastic:

Perhaps someone who has fog lights installed in their bumper from the factory will have no problems, but I have a factory blank bumper with independent cutouts for fog lights.

When I turned on the fog lights, I expected a “WOW” effect, but I said, “Why the F*ck don’t they light up?” Here we remember a little that for LEDs it is important to connect plus to plus, minus to minus. Therefore, we take the fogs back and change the polarity on the plug:

And actually after that the “WOW” effect came:

The photos show a clear STG, in which these fog lights do not blind anyone.

For those who do not know how to adjust correctly: Find a flat surface and a flat wall at a distance of 5 meters. We measure the distance from the asphalt to the middle of the fog, now we mark this distance on the wall, and use the adjusting screw to lower / raise it to this level. Each fog lamp needs to be adjusted separately. With this adjustment, oncoming cars will not curse you.

Conclusion: after installing these fog lights, I now don’t understand how I drove before, the quality of light is comparable to expensive foreign cars, the only negative is their low location on the car. You can safely drive them up to 60 km/h.

Difficult choice between “fourteenth” and “fifteenth”

Let's look at these two models in more detail. Generally speaking, this family is presented in three versions, excluding modifications:

  • VAZ-2113;
  • VAZ-2114;
  • VAZ-2115.

All of them are restylings of the Samara family, respectively, VAZ-2108, 09 and 99. Nevertheless, the designers tried, to the best of their ability, of course, to modernize these cars. The result turned out to be quite good, considering the cost of these models. These are not masterpieces of design, but they do not pretend to be so. Apparently, the main task here was simply to refresh the design of the already quite outdated Samara, giving them a slightly modified appearance.

Previously, the second option was the most popular in Russia. For some reason, cars with a sedan body were considered more respectable, apparently due to the fact that high authorities drove a GAZ-2410 (later - a GAZ-3102). However, after the country was flooded with foreign cars, the attitude towards hatchbacks changed significantly.

At the same time, it is generally accepted that such cars are chosen by representatives of the younger generation, since they look much more dynamic. By the way, in this particular case this is indeed the case. The “Fourteenth” accelerates from zero to hundreds 0.5 seconds faster than the “tag”, since it is lighter. On the other hand, a person is not able to perceive this difference, so this indicator, in principle, does not play a special role.

When choosing between body types, you should proceed from considerations of practicality. In particular, a much larger cargo can be loaded into the hatchback. In addition, if you remove the rear row of seats, the “fourteenth” turns into almost a full-fledged station wagon. “Fifteenth”, for obvious reasons, cannot boast of such spaciousness.

The VAZ-2014 has one more advantage - it has a shortened rear overhang. Many car owners who have driven both the “fourteenth” and “fifteenth” models claim that the hatchback is a little more convenient to park in limited space. However, this is all just at the level of sensations. According to experienced drivers, the main thing when parking is how much a person feels the dimensions of his car, while the type of body plays a secondary role.

At the same time, the fifth door is not only an advantage, but also its disadvantage. It often becomes loose due to driving on not the best roads, especially somewhere in the outback, and gradually this sound begins to irritate the driver more and more. In addition, the hatchback has constant problems with the rear window getting dirty, and only the wiper can save the situation.

The sedan does not have such a drawback, since the trunk gets in the way of dust and dirt rising to the glass from the road surface. Also, over time, the pillars that hold the back door weaken, which means there is extra expense for replacing them. The most resourceful ones get out of the situation using a simple method. A hole is drilled in one of the racks (the door must be open), into which a nail is then inserted if necessary.

In terms of driving performance, the cars are almost identical. Considering the fact that they belong to the same family, this is not surprising. Repairs will also be relatively inexpensive - both in the first and second cases. At the same time, the cost of the “fifteen” on the secondary market is slightly higher than that of the “fourteenth”. Apparently, the old idea of the solidity of the sedan still works. Nevertheless, both cars are today among the most inexpensive used cars on the market, and they will be able to please their new owner for a long time with unpretentiousness and inexpensive maintenance, of course, with appropriate care.

It turns out that it is almost impossible to make a categorical conclusion in favor of one of the two models. Here, we rather need to proceed from considerations of practicality - we remind you of the greater capacity of the “fourteenth”. If bulky cargo has to be transported very rarely, then the aesthetic perception of the car will most likely come to the fore. Some people find the sedan more solid; accordingly, the hatchback is closer to the sports version. It is impossible not to note the disadvantages inherent in these cars, for example, the lack of power steering, ABS and many other devices that make driving easier today. On the other hand, all these shortcomings are more than compensated for by the price.

How to choose foglights VAZ 2115 and PTF VAZ 2114

Let's start with the fact that there are several types of fog lights. More precisely, there are two types: standard and universal PTFs

It is important to understand that their effectiveness greatly depends on the quality of the fogs themselves.

Let's move on. Standard PTFs can be original or analogues. In any case, they are produced for a specific car model, have similar mounts, housing, etc. Such PTFs are the easiest to install, especially if the bumper already has places for installation, covered with plugs.

Universal PTFs have a mount that allows them to be installed on different car models; such fog lights can be installed in the area of plugs on the bumper, on the radiator grille, hung on the bumper, etc.

The disadvantages are the insufficiently bright and strong glow of such lamps, as well as a short service life. At the same time, it is not always possible to replace the blades quickly and easily, taking into account possible difficulties with access (especially if the fogs are installed in standard places).

PTFs with a xenon lamp shine brighter than halogen lamps, the service life is also 50-60 or even 80-100% longer (provided that high-quality lamps are used). However, the cost of the equipment is much higher; for such lamps it is also necessary to install separate ignition units, correctly connect xenon, etc.

Also, brighter xenon light, which is better than halogen lights on a dry road, often provides worse visibility in fog and rain, since the color temperature is slightly different from halogen headlights, even for xenon analogues that are as close in characteristics as possible.

It is also worth noting that the brighter xenon glow can cause blinding oncoming drivers. Taking into account this feature, PTFs with xenon need to be lowered lower, constantly monitor their adjustment, keep the headlights clean and do not turn on the fog lights under normal conditions (when there is no fog, snow or rain).

LED PTFs are more economical in terms of energy consumption and place less load on the battery and wiring. The service life of good quality LED PTFs is usually longer than halogen or xenon ones.

Such fogs shine well (if the product is of high quality), in some cases you can change the temperature of the glow (from white to yellow, etc.). In practice, such PTFs may well perform the function of DRLs during daylight hours.

The downside is the high cost of high quality products. Additional requirements should be taken into account during installation, since in case of installation errors or poor ventilation, the LED headlights can become very hot, which renders them inoperable.

Which fog lights are better to install on a VAZ 2114

We found out which PTFs are best suited for the VAZ 2114. Good road lighting is very important for a smooth ride. Fog lights provide better visibility in bad weather

Even today they are used for a better look as a complement to the high beams. So at some point the question is, which PTF is better for the VAZ 2114?

VA series 1 2114

there was no fog. In the latest modifications, of course, cars that come with PTF and others have plugs for installation.

There are drivers who are satisfied with the regular version of the PTF on the VAZ. Unfortunately, most of them search and communicate to choose the best model for their car.

Types of fog lights

Fogs 4.5 types:

Headlights are made for a specific car model with the same supports and body as the original.

Universal headlights have mounts that allow you to install them on any car in the bumper, radiator grill, or hang the bumper.

Depending on the type of lamp, lights are divided into:

Halogen bulbs are cheaper than other options. However, they tend to burn out and require frequent replacement.

Xenon headlights are better than halogen PTF to illuminate the road

and last longer. But strict light curtains are imposed on oncoming drivers, and they will be fined for being too bright. LED headlights are more energy efficient and don't even have the same battery drain as the latter two headlights. They are durable and provide excellent illumination of the road. If installed incorrectly, in other words, ventilation, LED headlights overheat and become inoperable.

PTF is available in plastic, duralumin and magnesium cases. Duralumin and magnesium options are considered more durable and reliable.

Fog lights are equipped with plastic or glass light lenses. Plastic diffusers wash out over time and let in terrible light, which affects road visibility and traffic safety. If glass diffuser headlights are selected, make sure they are designed for design, you can change them.

If the fog lights

not in use, for greater safety, of course, close them with plastic plugs.

Selection bias

To determine which fog lights to install on the Vase 2114, you need to know the right aspects of choice.

  1. Strong business. The situation on Russian roads, the headlight housing must be made of a material that is resistant to damage and temperature fluctuations. It is preferable that the design includes plugs.
  2. Robust lights and wires, relays and lights included.
  3. Wide spot light, uniform light distribution and low scattering and refraction losses.
  4. Adjustment and adjustment of the light spot vertically and horizontally.
  5. Don't blind oncoming drivers.
  6. Easy replacement of a burnt out lamp. Look at the purchase instructions for replacing the lamp. The easier and faster this can be changed, the less time it will take for the lamp to suddenly burn out. Ideally, no further replacement is required after replacing the lamp.
  7. Profitability. When selecting headlights, try to avoid excessive electrical and generator loads. Lamps up to 55 W are almost always enough.
  8. Thick durable lenses.
  9. Excellent aerodynamic characteristics.
  10. Compliance with machine design.

and better. Of the available PTFs, in most cases the following models are installed on the VAZ 2114:

Difficulty adjusting

The VAZ 2114 does not provide for adjustment of fog lights, even in cars equipped with them. If on new cars no problems arise when passing a technical inspection, then after several years of operation (the front bumper touching foreign objects or bumps is inevitable on our roads), the direction of the light beam ceases to comply with GOST.

What is the fine?

The use of xenon in fog lights is regulated on the basis of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Russian Federation and the “List of faults and conditions under which the operation of vehicles is prohibited.”

Methods for checking vehicles are given in GOST R 51709-2001.

There is no penalty for xenon as such! Problems with installing xenon lamps in external lighting devices are described in Part 3 of Art. 12.5 Code of Administrative Offences. And the punishment for such an action is strict - deprivation of rights for a period of 6 months to 1 year.

If it turns out that xenon cannot be installed in the PTF for the reasons described above, then the car is confiscated, the license plates are removed and it is sent to the parking lot. This cannot be done in the dark or in bad weather.

The decision to initiate a case for an administrative offense is sent to the magistrate's court, and only it can make a decision on deprivation of rights.

Xenon lovers should not be upset. Part 3 Art. 12.5 is too loosely interpreted, so a good lawyer can easily prove your innocence. Why?

  • The rules state that in order to be able to operate a vehicle, its integrity must be maintained. That is, you cannot change lighting fixtures or replace them with others.
  • When installing xenon, the integrity of the headlights is not formally compromised, nor is the location of the lamps or operating mode.

Pay a fine online:

Actions to install xenon, if properly presented in court, are often reclassified as part 1 of Art. 12.5, and deprivation of rights is replaced by a fine of 500 rubles. As a result, depriving someone of a license for xenon is a very difficult matter. More often, under unfavorable circumstances, you can only count on a small fine for xenon.

How to distinguish Kirzhach from Bosch?

To replace burnt out or dimmed lamps, you need to understand what type of base is used in the PTF. There are several differences between the two products from Kirzhach and Bosch. Factory fog lights on the 2114 are equipped with parts from , so the stock version of the fogs will contain H11 format sockets in the design. Compared to Bosch parts, the original light bulb has several differences:

  • The plastic housing of the Bosch lighting element is made of more durable material;
  • On the glass case of the Kirzhach PTF there is an engraving “Made in Russia”;
  • In the factory version, the housings of the Russian part include the presence of a base in the H11 format, while the “Bosh” parts are provided with H3 (H4) housings.

Even without a second version of the spare part at hand, you can determine the country of its production by the quality of the part. High quality manufacturing of spare parts is characteristic of Bosch.

Types of light bulbs in PTF

Several types of light bulbs are used for lighting:

Halogen light bulbs are the most common. They are considered quite effective and do not blind oncoming traffic. At the same time, such bulbs in the fog lamps of the VAZ 2114 have a short resource and become very hot. Sudden cooling of heated glass can lead to cracks and chips. If, in pursuit of illumination, the driver has installed lamps that are too strong compared to the standard power, this leads to the control unit overheating and the headlights automatically turning off.

LED light bulbs are becoming increasingly popular. They are distinguished by a wide color range, sufficient brightness and efficient power consumption. LEDs heat up slightly and do not overheat the working area of the headlight. Therefore, during long-term operation of the PTF, the headlights do not melt and do not fail. Headlights with such bulbs do not blind oncoming cars. But LED lamps are more expensive than halogen lamps. Careful selection of lamps is also necessary: they are not suitable for all types of headlights.

High power LEDs require a special cooling system.

Gas discharge or xenon lamps are considered the most powerful and efficient. The regulations have strict restrictions on the use of HID lamps. By law, these lamps are used only in headlights marked “D”, equipped with automatic leveling. Their installation and replacement is more complex than the installation of halogen and LED options. If installed correctly, their service life will be about 3 years.

Significant disadvantages of xenon lamps are the high price and the fact that if one of the bulbs burns out, both lamps will need to be replaced.

If both lamps burn out at once, the reason may be that the lamp power is too high. It happens that fuses blow if you drive into the water and the PTF suddenly cools down. Therefore, first check the fuses, the condition of the lamps, and only if they are really burned out, replace them with new ones.

Process Features

Bulbs for foglights of the VAZ 2114; we approach the choice correctly

To ensure that the process of dismantling and replacing the lighting component is successful, make sure that there is no condensation in the reflector unit. If you still find moisture in the block, clean the drainage channel, which you can find near the mounting of the turn signal light (on the left or right of the car).

What kind of light bulbs are in the dimensions of the VAZ 2114

We can give some more advice to motorists:

  • take into account the interval from the moment the vehicle's lighting system is turned off. Do not start work immediately after turning off the lighting system, as this may cause burns;
  • Whatever lamp you replace (xenon or halogen), wear protective gloves;
  • Do not replace lighting elements with overly powerful ones, as they can lead to failure of the lighting device.

Installation and connection algorithm

  1. Installation of a power button in the car interior. In the case of the VAZ-2114, the place for the button is on the left side of the driver on the front panel. However, its placement can be arbitrary - the main thing is that it is convenient for the driver to drive the car. Often, PTF power buttons are installed instead of plugs on the control panel. A PTF activation button is installed in the cabin in a place convenient for the driver.
  2. The grille with the speaker is removed from the standard front panel. Behind it there are two connectors - one is for turning on the headlights, the second is for indicating the operation of lighting fixtures and illuminating the key itself.
  3. The button is placed in a convenient place, and chips are connected to it. The speaker grill can be returned to its place. The power button is connected, chips are connected to it.
  4. Under the hood there should be a mounting block that combines fuses and relays. The PTF relay will be mounted in the same place, so the block must be removed: to do this, unscrew the nuts that secure it and lift it. Under the hood there is a block to which the PTF relay will be connected.
  5. On the bottom panel of the mounting block there are two blocks - 7 and 8. Each of the blocks is signed during production at the factory, so it is impossible to make mistakes at this stage.
  6. The PTF set contains a wiring harness with four contacts. The mentioned wires are pulled to the fuse block from the fog light relay. The wiring harness connects to the fuse box.
  7. The relay is mounted in the engine compartment of the car. The PTF relay is located in the engine compartment.
  8. The wires coming from the PTF relay are connected to connectors 7 and 8 of the mounting block: in connector 7, terminal 8 is connected to terminal 30 from the relay, terminal 87 is connected to connector 1, terminal 85 is connected to connector 17 on terminal 7, terminal 86 is connected to ground . From block 8, terminals 2 and 3 are directed to the left and right fog lights, respectively. PTF connection diagram.
  9. The ground wires are connected to the fog lights: they are usually attached to the nuts of the headlights.

Connection diagram for connectors and terminals of fog lights. The functionality of the entire connection can be checked by turning on the side lights - only then will the fog lights work.

Fog lights function only when the side lights are on. After completing the installation of the PTF on the car, they only need to be adjusted correctly. The flow of light should not blind drivers in the oncoming lane.

Video: instructions for installing and connecting fog lights

Fog lights are essential lighting equipment on any car, making it easier to travel in conditions of minimal visibility. If there is no PTF on a certain car model, you can install them yourself. The installation procedure does not require special knowledge and can be carried out by the driver without the involvement of third parties.

One of the most unpleasant and dangerous natural phenomena for road users is fog. In poor visibility conditions, the likelihood of vehicle collisions increases. Equipping your car with fog lights allows you to drive in any weather conditions. You can install and connect such lighting devices to a VAZ 2113, 2114, 2115 at a car service center, but doing it yourself will cost much less.

Which modification is better?

H4 halogen lamps installed on the VAZ-2114 are divided into:

  1. Standard.
  2. Enhanced light beam.
  3. Improved visual overview.
  4. All-weather.
  5. Increased power.

They are two filaments for low and high beam lighting. Lamps with a power of 60/55W are considered optimal among them.

Standard H4 lamp

Such lamps are mounted on every car of this VAZ model.

High beam lamp

High light flux lamp +30%

They are designated as +30%, 50% and so on. In addition to consuming “their” 55W and percent, they produce brighter light. But the duration of their operation is not long, although the price is more expensive.

Improved visual overview

Illuminated with white light familiar to the eye. Consuming the usual 55 W, they illuminate brighter, despite the bluish tint of the bulb.

They provide an excellent background light on snowy and dry roads. On a wet road it is better to use yellow fog lights. Doesn't blind oncoming cars. The service life of these does not differ from standard ones, despite the inflated price. Manufacturers prefer lamps with a yellow or bluish tint.

All weather

All-weather yellow lamp

The lamps are specially coated with a yellowish tint, which allows the light to achieve the contrast of the area in bad weather, especially cloudy (foggy). Yellow light has less reflection.

Increased power

They are in demand among owners who do not particularly know the “subject of the dispute.”

High-power lamps lead to consequences such as blinding an oncoming car and causing an accident.
