That is why the company decided to change the configuration and revise the starting prices.
AvtoVAZ has announced prices and specifications for the 2022 Lada XRay Cross in a new body; the changes can be seen in the photo. In addition to the original appearance with protective plastic elements, the new crossover has a special interior configuration and a wide range of equipment. White Lada Vesta is the most popular option, since the paint is not metallic; in addition to its advantages, it is extremely inexpensive. The rear headlights look like a bright fragment - giving the overall appearance a certain zest.
Quite capricious in handling, in terms of chips - on white, the slightest imperfections, dirt, traces of rain are clearly visible. The sixth and seventh original XRAY colors: from “Fresh” to “Puma”
Undoubtedly, of all the options, the elite color “Fresh” stands out, which is available as an additional paid option for the package and costs 19,000 rubles. The English translation, which means “freshness,” emphasized the novelty of the implemented project.
Another color was dark brown metallic (265), original for new X-style cars. It was called “Puma” and is somewhat unusual for the Lada paint palette. The car was presented in this color at many exhibitions and presentations.

In order for the paint to cover the car body for a long time and reliably, manufacturers have to think and work a lot. After all, coverage is of great importance. It is not only pleasing to the eye. In addition, it is necessary to obtain a layer that will easily withstand humidity, sunlight, aggressive environments and significant temperature changes. All of the above requirements depend on the quality of the paint and the preliminary preparation of the body for painting work. The thickness of the layers is of great importance. In recent years, AvtoVAZ has done a decent job of obtaining high-quality body coatings. The main emphasis was placed on achieving the level of European production. Thus, the predecessors of LADA XRay were covered with paint of the following thickness:

Not everything is so rosy
Along with visible advantages, the domestic car LADA X-RAY has shortcomings and pronounced disadvantages.
Owners complain about the following typical problems with the model:
- Robotic gearbox with one clutch.
According to many car enthusiasts and experts, this unit is the most problematic. Initially, the biggest drawback was the very short service life of the clutch. Recently, manufacturers installed a reinforced unit, but they could not get rid of the problems. The lack of another mechanical alternative discourages potential buyers. - Many complaints are caused by the cramped interior of the car, which is noticeably noticeable even when compared with the Lada Vesta model.
The lack of free space is felt both behind the wheel and in the back row. Regardless of height, every passenger here feels tightness in their knees. In addition, criticism is caused by the lack of modern amenities inside the cabin. There is no comfortable armrest for the driver, illumination of the rear row of seats, cruise control function, heated steering wheel and seats. - Narrow pedal assembly.
The pedals of this car cause complaints from most drivers. The unit, transferred from French cars, is so narrow that when driving a car you can easily confuse the gas and brake pedals. At the same time, the manufacturer does not intend to finalize the design in the near future. - An increase in the level of passive safety is achieved by a certain width of the racks. Due to the small dimensions of the body, this factor negatively affects the level of visibility from the car interior. This is caused by the proximity of the pillars to the driver.
- The lack of all-wheel drive is often considered a disadvantage of the X-RAY model. It is especially lacking against the backdrop of the relatively high ground clearance. The manufacturer is in no hurry to fix this problem.
Thus, this car is quite controversial. It has both advantages and disadvantages. Nevertheless, the majority of domestic owners of the LADA X-RAY model are satisfied with this car.
Warranty for more than ten years: dream or reality
Having applied new technologies in the production of a high hatchback, Russian automakers did not lose sight of the galvanizing, painting and welding process. These procedures must be carried out directly at the car production site to ensure high quality. According to management's assumptions, the body of the Lada X-Ray can last up to 12 years without additional treatments. This limit is significantly ahead of all previously offered guarantees.
The basis for the longevity of the body is galvanization. This processing method minimizes metal aging and prevents corrosion. AvtoVAZ relatively recently began using this method of protection on production vehicles. So far, not all parts of the Lada X-Ray are subject to anti-corrosion treatment. Particular attention is paid to the most vulnerable parts of the new crossover. These include: pillars, doors and bottom. This is done without fail. The body is selectively coated, but according to AvtoVAZ management, soon all Lada cars will receive a 100% galvanized body, which will be made in the factory. This is what will significantly extend the life of each machine. Depending on whether the body is galvanized or not, the price of the car is determined. Therefore, this moment, of course, will influence the rise in price of cars.
Exterior
The appearance of the new hatchback has long remained a stumbling block. The concept shown in 2012 made a serious bid for major changes that began to occur in the activities of AvtoVAZ. He gave way to the X style, which will be associated with all Lada cars.
At the same time, the management of AvtoVAZ did everything to make the new generation cars, with all their quality, available to the majority of ordinary people, and they succeeded. Serial X Ray of 2016 lost some form, but was able to distinguish himself in many other respects.
For the first time, LED optics were used on a domestic production car. True, so far in the form of daytime running lights. There were plans for the main headlights, but increasing the price of the crossover was not part of AvtoVAZ’s plans.
Galvanization
A coating that protects the car body from the environment can be applied in several ways. One of them is thermal or hot. In this case, the zinc alloy covers the car body at a time when it has not yet left the assembly line. At AvtoVAZ, this option is used for expensive modifications of the Lada. Thermal galvanizing creates the most tangible protection that can last for many years.
The second method involves galvanizing individual parts. This is often used on mid-spec cars when it is necessary to maintain a certain price. After all, galvanizing significantly adds to the cost of each car. Metal parts are dipped into a bath of zinc solution, where, under the influence of electric current, zinc particles are deposited onto the metal being coated.
There is a third option. This method is widely used in mass production, despite the more complex process. It processes small body parts. Each part is exposed to zinc, iron and manganese salts. The next step is thorough priming. After the preliminary layer is obtained, it is covered with zinc paint, where special attention is paid to the dispersion of zinc. The latter option is not considered full-fledged galvanizing, but it still stops corrosion for a long time.
To the future in everything new
The compact crossover LADA XRay has truly revolutionized the perception of domestic B-class cars. This is evidenced not only by the original color “Puma” or “Fresh”. Lada X-Ray has its own 1.8 liter engine and AMT gearbox, which has not previously been used on domestic cars. The minimum configuration of the Optima has so many options that more advanced classes cannot handle it. This is indicated by safety systems, from airbags to sophisticated electronics. High quality radio, central locking with remote control and much more. And at the same time, the prices of Lada X Ray are much more attractive than those of competitors. Equipment with the addition of “Comfort” has air conditioning. The “Top” version boasts a multimedia system with navigation, heated windows and seats, and LED lights. And all this in the price range from 589 to 723 thousand rubles.
Lada X Ray Cross appeared at the end of last year and received 4x4 all-wheel drive. Actually, the Renault Sandero Stepway front-wheel drive platform simply does not imply this. The car received original bumpers, a plastic protective body kit and several additional transmission modes. Naturally, all this affected the price and equipment of the 2022 model year car.
The ground clearance of the LADA XRAY Cross was increased to 215 mm from 195 on the standard XRAY Cross. Large 17-inch wheels of original design were installed. But the main feature of the XRAY Cross is the special settings of the power unit and stability control system (ESC). A special LADA Ride Select washer selector on the instrument panel allows you to activate suspension and transmission algorithms for overcoming snow, sand and mud, as well as a sports mode for dynamic and safe driving. The engine lives up to its stated power—acceleration is brisk. It's a pity that after 4000 rpm his enthusiasm sours. The gears are selected well, the shifting mechanism is quite accurate - no problems. And everything is not bad with the brakes (Lifan was the only one in the test with rear disc mechanisms). The mediocre information content of the drive prevented us from receiving a higher rating.
The X50 is not afraid of broken roads, except that the vibrations transmitted to the steering wheel are too much. But you need to be careful: the engine oil pan and the gearbox housing are not covered with anything. And actively turning the steering wheel is contraindicated - during the test, the front wheels repeatedly clung to the arches.
In general, everything is more or less. With the exception of sound insulation, it seems to be completely absent. At any speed, be it 40 or 140 km/h, you can hear absolutely everything except your own voice. The engine growls, the gearbox shift mechanism clicks. But a pebble flew out from under the wheel into the arch and... I think I heard it plop onto the road.
Conclusion? It is quite possible to consume Chinese cars, seduced by colorful packaging and a pleasant price tag. This might work.

Driving does not evoke any vivid emotions. One hundred and six forces are almost completely dissolved in the transmission - the VAZ robot is thoughtful during shifts. However, this is a characteristic feature of all transmissions of this type. A modern automatic or dual-clutch transmission would solve the problem, but it is fantastically expensive.
And in terms of acoustic comfort, the Cross is far from ideal: the engine is well insulated, but the “noise” of the arches and bottom is unimportant, and extraneous sounds are heard through the door seals.
In general, you won’t get any fervent drive from Kalina. But how good it is in our “directions”, be it broken asphalt or a primer! Easily “smoothes out” small irregularities and allows you to confidently rush through the pits. I wish I could “untie” the steering wheel from the road! He, like Lifan, receives noticeable shocks.
As you understand, Kalina is also not without its shortcomings, but it leaves a slightly more subtle aftertaste, which is well worth the additional payment of 20 thousand rubles. And if you take a car with a manual transmission, then the price difference with Lifan will completely disappear.

The crossover version of the tall hatchback looks much better and really looks like a crossover. Large 17-inch wheels with Continental tires and a slightly wider track make the car look more brutal. In terms of external dimensions, the Cross turned out to be slightly longer than the usual Lada XRay due to different bumpers. New wheels made it possible to increase the track, as well as the protective body kit and the width of the body. Due to the standard roof rails, the height of the car is also nominally greater. Despite the new seats and chairs, the cabin is still a bit cramped, especially for rear passengers. So far the manufacturer has not disclosed sales volumes for this modification, but due to the rather high cost, the level of demand will be low. Visibility, dimensions and light
Visibility of the vehicle is excellent, it is much better than in Astra. In my previous car there were problems with this, I even almost had an accident. The mirrors are not bad, the X-Ray has built-in repeaters - this is a plus.
As for the dimensions of the car, my opinion is subjective. I don’t like big cars and I don’t like being cramped with other passengers, so I prefer small hatchbacks, which, alas, are not very popular in our market. Astra was big for me. Its width and poor visibility combined with small clearance created significant restrictions when choosing a parking space. X-Ray is an ideal option for me in this regard.
In front there is exactly enough space for two people to stay comfortably, and no more. For me, there is enough space in the back, but it can be a bit cramped for three passengers. X-Ray Prestige has ideal conditions for my needs.
As for the light, there are LED DRLs, they are bright and visible from afar. Rear optics - parity. For visibility and the size of the vehicle, solely in my subjective opinion, I give it a big plus.
