The key starts to turn, but the mechanism does not work. If the cylinder is additionally loaded at this moment (for example, by pressing the door, knocking on it, pushing or pulling), the part will come out of the handle socket.
- When worn. During the operation of the car, the internal pins of the device wear out and when you try to turn the key in the cylinder, the parts begin to cling to each other, which ultimately leads to their destruction.
- If the car owner decides to upgrade the door handles or install European locks.

Work begins with replacing the key. If it is made of silumin, then in the winter this element freezes quite often. If you apply too much pressure, a silumin key may simply break. Of course, such a part needs to be replaced, but for this you don’t have to buy an assembled door handle for the VAZ-2114, but buy a repair kit. It includes:
- two keys;
- two leashes for handles;
- fastening elements.
Before replacing, you need to pay attention to the appearance of the element - on its reverse side there are two protrusions, one of which, when activated, will press the key, and the second is shortened during assembly so that the ends of the leash do not protrude outward.

- Unpack the new kit, prepared for replacement, and lubricate the internal moving parts.
- Install a new return spring. Usually it is not included in the standard replacement kit and is purchased separately. When installed correctly, the key should rotate freely back when in the hole.

How does a car door lock 2108-2115 work?
The door lock for VAZ models from 2108 to 2015 is a completely non-separable structure, which consists of several parts:
- metal base;
- constipation;
- retainer;
- spring;
- plastic case.
The lock has 3 positions:
- open;
- safety;
- closed.
The lock is controlled by the shifter. This part, which is included in the internal lock mechanism, unlocks the lock when lowered.

Adequate methods
This will surprise many, but there are much more adequate methods to get into an automatically locked car without damaging it than radical and expensive ones.
So, the car is locked from the inside with the keys in the ignition, it’s a long drive to get the keys, and I don’t want to spend money either on a special company or on subsequent repairs:
1. Open the trunk to get into the cabin. There are several methods to perform this task:
- We apply a strong impulse blow with an open palm just below the lock, and the vibration will complete everything for you and the latch will open;
- take an awl (a woman’s nail file or manicure scissors) but not a screwdriver. We insert the existing object under the seal and press the tongue.
2. Open the hood and disconnect the battery. This is the simplest of the methods:
- we crawl under the car and find the cord leading to the hood lock; if that doesn’t work, we look for the lock tongue through the radiator grille;
- press the tongue mechanically or pull the cable and the hood opens;
- We approach the battery and knock down the negative terminal, and click it several times on the mount. The car body, which is a minus, is a large consumer and turning it on abruptly will create a small soft drop. It’s better not to touch the right one, because you can burn the ECU.
3. Open the door with wire. The sequence of actions is as follows:
- we find a stiff wire and an analogue of a woman’s nail file and get to work;
- use a thin object to pry out the glass seal near the lock;
- we insert the pre-bent wire into the prepared hole and lower it until it rests;
- the wire rests against the lock latch, so we turn it and turn it until it goes around it, when it “falls through” we pry it back;
- The opening procedure will take 2-5 minutes, and the door will be open; all that remains is to hammer the seal back.
4. Open with your phone. The most interesting, and most importantly effective method of how to open the door on a VAZ 2114. It is simple and amazing:
- you need to remember who has the second keys and call this person;
- bring the phone closer to the keyhole;
- the interlocutor at the other end presses the open button and the machine is open.
What actions should be taken if the key is left in the car?
The first question that a driver asks himself when he discovers that the car key is left in the cabin: how to open a VAZ 2114 in an easy and simple way without a key? The easiest way would be to call home and ask for an additional set of keys. - Using wire of appropriate length. Using a rigid wire at least 70 cm long, you can easily open the door. For this method, you should use a metal ruler, but such an object can rarely be seen nearby, of course, if the car owner does not steal other people's cars. Therefore, we will look at opening car doors using a wire. So, having found a piece of metal wire, you need to do the following:
- make a kind of bend at one end, which should resemble a hook for a fishing rod;
- the end with the bend must be carefully inserted between the seal and the glass, trying to pick up the door rod. Of course, such an operation is not so simple, and most often it is not completed successfully the first time. But one of the attempts will definitely succeed and help open the car door;
- You should not try to use thin wire for this method, as it will simply bend, and a thicker product will not be able to be inserted into a small slot.
- Using a thin fishing line, but always strong. In a similar way, you can try to open a car door using a fishing line, which should be thin and at the same time strong enough. A small loop is made at the end of the fishing line, and this end is pushed into the gap between the body and the door seal. Having inserted the fishing line inside, you need to move it in different directions until it wraps around the loop of the door flag. Next, all that remains is to pull the ends of the fishing line so that the flag rises up. This method of opening doors is suitable if the car is equipped with a special flag, with which the car door is closed.
- You can also try to open the door of the VAZ-2114 using a tennis ball in which a hole is made. To do this you need to do the following:
- press the tennis ball firmly against the car door lock, making sure that the hole where the key is inserted exactly matches the hole of the tennis ball;
- press the ball sharply so that a stream of air enters the inside of the castle;
- the air that gets inside should raise the door flag, which will help open the car door.
If none of the above methods helped to open the door of the VAZ-2114, all that remains is to contact the dealer with a request to make a duplicate of the lost keys. Of course, this process will take some time, but if there is no other choice, then you can just wait.
To avoid finding yourself in such a predicament, you should always be careful about your keys, store them in a safe place and do not forget them in the car.
Removal
Note: The door lock can be removed without removing the outer lock handle. You just need to disconnect the handle rod from the lock (see below).
2. Disconnect the wiring harness connectors for the central locking drive gear motor.
3. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two self-tapping screws securing the gear motor.
4. Disconnect the gear motor from the lock rod and remove it from the door.
6. Using an impact screwdriver, unscrew the two screws securing the outer part of the lock.
7. Remove the outer part of the lock.
8. Using pliers, squeezing the antennae of the plastic holder of the inner handle rod, push it out of the hole in the door reinforcement.
9. Using a Phillips screwdriver, unscrew the two screws securing the inner door handle.
10. We remove the handle from the door and use tweezers to remove the rubber clamp from the tip of the rod.
11. Remove the handle from the rod.

14. If necessary, using a screwdriver, remove the lock washers from the axles and disconnect the two rods.
15. Using any available method, mark the position of the lock latch on the body pillar.
16. Using an impact screwdriver, unscrew the three screws securing the clamp.
17. Remove the clamp and shims.
Why doesn't the door open from the inside or outside?
The reasons why the car door does not open from the inside and outside (VAZ-2114, 15,12,11) can be different:
First, the unlocking mechanism begins to jam when pressed too sharply or too smoothly. And one day the day comes when the door in your VAZ-2115 or 2112 car will stop opening both from the inside and from the outside.
How to open
If you are inside the car and the door is jammed, you can get out of the car and then try to open the lock yourself from the outside.
When this cannot be done from the outside (for example, in a situation where the owner has forgotten the keys in the car), then you can use different methods: from adequate, gentle to aggressive, radical - even knocking out the rear window.
If the car window is open a few centimeters, then it is easy to pry up the handle, which is fixed in a certain position, then pull it back using a regular rope or strong fishing line.
