Today we will review the Lada Vesta Cross in a new configuration called Black. Let's start our review of the new Lada Vesta Cross Black with its appearance.
The main difference from other trim levels will be the black roof. It is painted in Panther color, and this is paint, and not film, as many believe. The shark fin antenna is painted.
The first car from the AvtoVAZ line that came with a black roof from the factory was the X-Ray Cross Instinct. In September, the Lada Granta Cross also came out with a black roof. It looks cool, creating the effect of a panoramic roof.
There will be exterior mirrors with black overlays. My only question is: there are new mirrors of a different shape with a different turn signal. I like them much better. The updated mirrors lock into place more clearly and firmly. Why AvtoVAZ still installs old mirrors is unclear.
Painting
Black paint is applied as a second layer over the base color. I decided to measure the thickness of the paintwork.
The following data was obtained:
- Roof – 210.
- Front doors – 140.
- Rear left door – 146.
- Rear left wing – 144.
- Tailgate – 141.
- Rear right wing – 142.
- Rear right door – 153.
- Front right door – 142.
- Front right fender – 161.
- Window post – 140.
- Hood – 147.
- Front left fender – 158.
For comparison, I measured the thickness of the roof paint on the regular version, it turned out to be an average of 150. That is, the thickness of the roof coating on the Black version is about 50 microns greater than on the regular version.
At the front of the car, fog lights are installed in the bumper. Radiator grille in black lacquer, blackened optics.
Question : What do you think, for example, the new Polo, Rapid, Rio already have diode headlights in the base. They look cooler and shine, but are more expensive. Vesta still uses primitive incandescent lamps. Is it worth installing diode optics on the Restyled Vesta, which will cost 70 thousand per headlight? Or let the old incandescent lamps remain?
Wheels
Wheels in a different color. On regular versions they are gray, here they are in black lacquer.
The design remains the same, but the combination of black and silver looks more interesting. The tires remain the same Pirelli Centuratto P7 with dimensions 205/50 R17. Plastic lockers are installed in the front wheel arches. The rear arches have felt fender liners made of soft material.
There are 4 parking sensors installed on the rear bumper. There is no rear view camera, since the multimedia is a simple push-button one.
↑ Reviews about platinum color
As you can find out from the comments to the Lada post, there have been no negative reviews of the new color yet: the plant’s designers believe that black and silver colors, for example, black pearl and platinum, are universal, suitable for owners of various ages and temperaments.
An exception may be young people who value above all else their exclusivity in everything, including the color of their car. In the video, which can be found on our website, everyone can see with their own eyes the incredible charm of the platinum-colored Lada cross 2022, its magnetism and attractiveness.
Important. A thoughtful combination of shades in the new color made it possible to create a coating that is durable, bright and reliable, and also extremely non-staining: dust and dirt are not as noticeable on it as on others.
As an alternative point of view, opposite to positive assessments, you can find an ambiguous review from the owner of Vesta on the Internet:
- “Everything is bad, the car needs to be periodically “finished with a file”, comfort is almost zero, the systems are unstable.”
At the same time, the author notes that no serious problems occurred with the car during its operation, and as the main argument he cites the following: everything would be fine if the Lada was cheaper.
This information excited other motorists, causing a strong reaction. If we put aside emotions, then the machine (and its coating) have practically no real shortcomings, this is confirmed by operating experience and proven developments in the treatment of Vesta’s “diseases”.
Trunk
The trunk opens with a button. The volume is the same as the sedan 480 liters.
The station wagon only has additional reserve above the shelf line. I like the luggage compartment of Vesta Cross the most. It is made competently, everything is assembled neatly, stands in its place, and is simply pleasing to the eye. There are a bunch of additional boxes and hidden niches for placing additional items. There is a socket, 2 lampshades.
Under the floor lining there is a spare wheel, an organizer for road tools, and a three-section box.
The trunk deserves praise. There is a nameplate with the model name on the rear door pillars.
They did not put a nameplate on the back door.

Rear cabin
The rear windows are electric and there is a niche in the door for a speaker. The inner handle is painted black lacquer.
A child lock has been installed. The back of the rear seats folds 60 to 40. Headrests are provided for rear passengers.
There is a lampshade in the ceiling upholstery. The front seats are upholstered in eco-leather. It gets dirty less and is easier to clean than fabric. There is a pocket only in the passenger back, not behind the driver. There is no rear armrest, no heating, but there is a 12-volt outlet.

The main thing is that the paintwork fulfills its main functions - protecting the body from corrosion, and, of course, effectively highlighting Vesta’s exterior, its exclusive design and sporty appearance.
