The spare tire is located under the floor, where the wheel wrench and jack are also stored, on top of this entire structure is covered with hardboard, so the floor of the trunk is flat, and the spare tire does not take up extra space. There are cargo securing brackets on the back of the rear seat and on the bottom of the trunk.

The interior of the LADA Kalina does not shine with sophistication, but is capable of fully satisfying the unpretentious car enthusiast. Due to the fact that the length of the car has remained unchanged, the trunk volume (the main thing for which station wagons are valued), let’s say, is not impressive. Still, 350 liters (when loaded up to the window line) is not the best figure by modern standards. Competitors that are similar in size have more impressive cargo compartment capacity. Moreover, in this parameter, the Kalina station wagon is not much ahead of the hatchback, whose trunk volume is 235 liters, but is inferior to the sedan (400 liters). At the same time, the carrying capacity of any modification of the Kalina, regardless of body type, is 475 kg.
Of course, the rear seats can be folded (in a ratio of 1:3), and then the trunk volume will increase to 650 liters. However, on other compact class station wagons this figure comes close and sometimes exceeds 1,000 hp.
However, two or three travel bags will fit here comfortably. Another thing is that it is not very convenient to load luggage - the lower edge of the trunk door opening is located quite high. But for securing things in the cargo compartment there are several metal loops.
Options and prices for Lada Kalina
Russian car enthusiasts will also be pleased with the color scheme of the car, represented by a whole palette of fruit and berry shades - from blueberries to apricots. Prices for these cars range from 267,000 rubles (for the cheapest standard package) to 344,000 rubles (for the most expensive luxury).
To sum up, it is fair to call the Kalina family cars a masterpiece of the domestic automobile industry. The external design of the car makes it attractive and modern, and the technical equipment allows it to compete with European analogues in its segment. In addition, LADA Kalina is the first domestic car with high levels of active and passive safety. Because even its standard equipment includes built-in airbags that are deployed in serious collisions.
Despite the fact that LADA Kalina is more focused on Russian car enthusiasts, this does not prevent it from gaining popularity in Europe. Moreover, in recent years the line of difference between Russian and European cars has become very transparent.

But climate control is still a novelty for our automakers. “Lada Kalina” in the “Lux” configuration is actually the first production Russian car equipped with this device. True, the algorithm for its operation is not entirely clear - the deflectors alternately emits arctic cold and desert heat.
Climate control, soft seats, good ergonomics... It would seem, what more could you want? However, after a long trip in the second row of seats, my back ached all night. The point is not at all in shaking and not in the quality of Kazakh roads (they, by the way, are quite decent, with the exception of the 150-kilometer stretch between Balkhash and Alma-Ata). Just so that when folding out the rear sofa you don’t “lose” the seat belt buckles, plastic latches are built into the back of the chair. They are located exactly opposite the lower back - you want to lean back in a chair, but hard plastic digs into your back.
With the exception of this fastener, there are no other comments regarding comfort in the passenger seats. Thanks to the high body, there is quite a lot of headroom. Despite the relatively small external dimensions, the rear passengers will not feel cramped, even if a tall driver or passenger is sitting in front: there is enough legroom.
Lada 1117 Kalina Universal - 2011
I live in the Primorsky region, and we are known to be obsessed with Japanese cars; I had about 5 of them before the Viburnum. I drive a lot and the cars often fall apart.
And so I’m thinking, let me buy myself a fresh Lada, because people drive in the West and they write cool reviews, saying that it drives and doesn’t break down.
In 2015, a 2011 car was purchased. Lada Kalina station wagon 1117.
The car had one owner, it was clear that the car was looked after, and the equipment was maximum, the body kit was all around, in general, I broke down and bought it, the original mileage was 47 thousand (it looked like the truth).
Well, in the first quarter I clocked up to 60 thousand miles. And then, one fine winter day it was -20, I started starting our car, and as I later found out, the belt turned (it turns out that our car never learned how to install self-tensioning rollers for the timing belt). Well, in the end, since I got around to it, I immediately ordered a pump and a timing belt with rollers, I changed it right away to be on the safe side. I drove another 5 thousand, a paradox happened, something like this had never happened, a tooth on the handbrake lever in the cabin broke and the stove fan began to make noise. this was of course a surprise, but I ordered a new lever assembly and a turntable. I rushed to install this miracle, so you have to remove everything, including the cable, and it is attached under the car and naturally, to get it, you first need to break your arm in three places and then the ratchet in at least two By the way, the rear brakes are also adjustable, an engineering decision was made to make a hatch for adjusting the cable in the cabin using a turbine, adjustment now takes no more than 5 minutes, by the way, I installed a lever. Installing a stove fan is generally an epic 4 hours of hard sex. Well, I didn’t have time to rejoice, the left drive crunched at 65 thousand!!! How could this be, I thought, maybe it was defective at the factory, I ordered a new one and replaced it. By the way, while the car was parked for 2 weeks, 2 ignition coils ran out. At 68 thousand, the generator flies, or rather the brushes on it, since generators, judging by their manufacturing, are made purely disposable because the brushes and the place where they go have become unusable (they forget to put in graphite or copper). I ordered a generator for help and installed it. Well, I drove around a little and the right-hand drive crunched at 70 thousand, I realized that this was a pattern. Ordered - changed. 72 thousand the generator mounting bolt broke, don’t ask me how, I don’t know, I bought it from stainless steel and replaced it. Fortunately, there is another car that you can drive, otherwise with such quality you can only do repairs.
In the summer of 2016, antifreeze started leaking from my heating radiator, but it didn’t leak much, so I stopped it for a while. In January 2022, I decided to overhaul the suspension, it fell into disrepair and the old ones were worn out, the steering rack was loose at 70 thousand, I don’t even know what to compare it with.
I took the rack from Kalina Sport, it is 3.1 turns instead of 4.
Replacing a stove radiator, I’ll tell you, it’s 2-3 hours of good doggystyle sex, and everyone understands who the active partner is here, and this is the easy version without removing the panel.
The suspension itself as a design is very reliable and simple, I’ll be honest, this is a PLUS.
The star-shaped bolts that the ball holds a special respect for the specialists of the frets, 2 days in the wd40 soured, they break for good reason, having broken 2, I just bought new hubs because I no longer had the strength or desire.
The bolts are made from rawhide. Just take a Japanese bolt and after 5 years it breaks when unscrewing, but this has never happened before and I hope it never will.
By the way, in January, at 85 thousand, the cable on the steering wheel died for a long time, and the catalyst ran out (it constantly gives an error), until it was dealt with
The general feeling is that the car itself is not bad and goes well on the highway, the sound insulation is within acceptable limits (thanks for the sound insulation to the previous owner), but God, it’s falling apart while driving, you don’t have time to do one thing, it’s falling apart something else, and yet, to the point of bonafide, they just forgot to put lubricants here there is a crooked bearing there, raw meat.
On Japanese cars there are such jokes as a tooth breaking, or they forgot to put lubricant in the drive, but there is no such thing there, the cars fall apart, no one argues, but this usually happens after 200 thousand real mileage and not every 5 thousand.
I don’t want to criticize Russian. people say that they got up and learned how to do it, I saw new viburnum trees and the news is that we didn’t get up, we are 30 years behind.
Outwardly they are beautiful and even seem to be driving, but for some reason the trailer and spare parts are not included when purchased at a dealership (

Review of Lada Kalina 1.6 Universal Lux - 2011
Good afternoon everyone. Under the recycling program, in April 2011, my husband and I purchased a Kalina station wagon 1.6 (98 hp) in a luxury package. Before deciding to buy Kalina, the old car began to fall apart completely. There were several options: Logan in a simple configuration, Ford Focus with loans, Niva-Chevrolet or Kalina station wagon. After studying the reviews about Kalina, we came to the salon several times, asked around, looked at everything, and finally decided. Before that, I drove the 99 for 10 years. As soon as I got into the car, I immediately felt the electric power steering - I was delighted. Before this it was more difficult to twist. Now the mileage is 6.5 thousand km. In the summer there were minor breakdowns in the form of a torn molding (replaced under warranty), and the washer tube was disconnected. On long trips and off-road, the cross-country ability is very good (fishing, mushroom spots, camping trips).
My daughter studied in a Logan driving school and got into my car and admired how much easier it was to drive. Recently, the first serious breakdown occurred - the heating of the front left seat caught fire. I warmed up the car, turned on the seat heating, and was alone in the parking lot. I immediately turned off the heating and stuffed snow into the smoking hole that had formed on the seat. At the service center we ordered a new seat (it’s good that the car is still under warranty).
Disadvantages of the car. The pads are squeaking and will have to be replaced with imported ones. I replaced the front wipers with soft ones - they scraped the glass a lot, I'll have to replace the rear wiper, same problem. During the first frost, I barely opened the door (the other doors also froze), although it had not rained before and the car had not been washed. Today, December 21, 2011, snow fell (about 25 cm overnight), when turning 90 degrees and in a lower gear, the car skidded a little (it didn’t skid like that in ’99). The cigarette lighter is inconvenient, the fuse has already blown once, and when the navigator is connected, it disconnects from the network. At 99, the front glass thawed twice as quickly, the air flow was better directed to the front and side windows. That seems to be all the downsides.
Pros. Very comfortable, spacious interior (my husband is tall - he stretches out his legs 180 cm and does not reach the front wall), in the summer we were saved only by air conditioning, now we are heated by a stove, it warms up very well. ABS on the road has never failed. Very good heating of mirrors and rear window, ice quickly thaws. The seat is comfortable and your back doesn’t get stiff or painful in traffic jams. There is enough trunk space for hiking and going to the country. Fog lights have come to the rescue more than once, even in snowy weather at night.
The price-quality ratio (354,000 rubles minus 47,000 rubles for recycling an old car) is reasonable for the domestic automobile industry. It is not inferior to a foreign car in terms of equipment, with the exception of assembly (leaves much to be desired). Many acquaintances who have foreign cars were surprised at our configuration, that our auto industry has achieved such results.
