How to choose the type of gas
When choosing equipment, it is necessary to decide not only on the generation, but also on the type of fuel. Car cylinders can be refilled:
- propane-butane (processed petroleum gas, located in a container in liquid form);
- methane (natural gas, under enormous pressure, pumped into a cylinder in a vapor state).
Propane gas stations are widely available throughout the country. The cost of a propane-butane installation is less, but the gas itself is more expensive than methane.
There are very few methane gas stations today. The cost of methane gas equipment is higher, and its dimensions and weight are greater.
Advantages of natural gas:
- saving money;
- safety;
- environmental friendliness.
For example, for the first version of the VAZ 2110 with 8 valves and Euro-2 standard, installing a methane-fueled gas system will make emissions cleaner and protect engine parts from carbon deposits. But methane cylinders are heavier, take up more space, and are more expensive to install, so such equipment is rarely installed on LADA.
Choosing the right LPG for VAZ
When choosing gas equipment for a VAZ, you should take into account that this involves making changes to the fuel system. The installation is easy to do yourself. You will need to purchase the appropriate equipment as a set (including all components) and study in detail the technical specifications for the car and the requirements of the manufacturer.
After installation, you need to take the car to a service center so that specialists can check that the equipment is connected and configured correctly. You will also need to make changes to the vehicle documentation, which the service station representatives will be able to assist you with. If you are not confident in your abilities and qualifications, it is advisable to entrust such re-equipment to professionals.
The use of gas equipment will significantly reduce the cost of purchasing fuel, and installing the equipment yourself will additionally save money for the car owner.
Before installing LPG on a VAZ 2110, you need to select equipment in accordance with the type of engine. To do this, you should look at the material of the intake manifold: if it is metal, a second-generation gas system is suitable, a plastic one is suitable for the fourth.
The second generation provides for manual monitoring of fuel supply to the mixer using a dispenser. Regulation is carried out with a screw, which is tightened only if the air filter is clogged.
In the third generation of systems, to shut off gasoline, not a valve is used, but an injector emulator. The fourth uses gas injectors that transfer the mixture directly to the intake manifold. They are controlled by an electronic unit.
For the VAZ 2110, gas equipment can be installed on any of two types of engines. But the carburetor is easier to maintain and configure, because gasoline and gas are supplied according to the same principle. This conversion is not particularly difficult.
Attention! For the VAZ 2110, it is possible to install LPG, regardless of the engine type.
For an injection-type power unit, additional components will need to be installed: emulators and an anti-clap valve to prevent destruction of the air filter.
In such an engine, the transition from gasoline to gas is carried out automatically, with the engine reaching a certain speed. You need to start the car on gasoline.
The fourth generation of gas equipment can only be installed on an injection type engine if electronic injectors are used, because the gas is supplied by computer-controlled nozzles.
When installing second-generation gas equipment on a VAZ 2110, it will pay for itself after approximately thirty thousand kilometers. If the car is used constantly, this mileage will be covered in about a year and a half.
What will the savings be? Considering that the cost of gas is approximately half that of gasoline, a car with an ideal fuel system setup at a speed not exceeding one hundred and twenty kilometers per hour consumes no more than nine liters of gasoline in mixed mode. If you configure the gas system correctly, gas fuel will be consumed in approximately thirteen liters.
In addition, for the VAZ 2110, like most other domestic cars, when running on gas, the service life of the engine oil will significantly increase, which is also important. Due to the complete combustion of this type of fuel, its waste does not enter the lubrication system, as a result of which the oil does not lose quality.
Another benefit is the reduction of fouling of the electrodes on the spark plugs. This allows you to significantly increase their service life.
The undeniable advantages of HBO
Installing gas equipment on a VAZ 2112 is justified many times over.
Reduce waste
It is enough to estimate the cost of one kilometer. Compared to 92 grade gasoline, butane-propane is 2 times cheaper.
Knock resistance
Gas is characterized by a high octane number. And the higher this indicator, the less harm the fuel (gas) does to the connecting rod and piston group. Therefore, in a VAZ 2112 car running on gas, the service life immediately increases by an average of 35 to 45%, and the mileage “from repair to repair” increases by 1.5-2 times.
Increase in operating resources
Gas allows you to increase the service life of the catalytic converter by 40%. Changing spark plugs is required less often, since gas combustion does not produce carbon deposits. Therefore, installing gas on the VAZ 2112 will allow the owner to appear less often at service centers, as well as at service stations. The gas does not contain lead, which “kills” the lambda probe and the combustion chamber of the cylinder head.
Increasing the environmental friendliness of exhaust gases
Motor oil with HBO does not thin out. It will need to be changed quite rarely. Among other things, a VAZ 2112 with gas equipment passes technical inspections more easily: the absence of harmful emissions increases the environmental friendliness of vehicle emissions.
Economical fuel consumption
The explosion hazard of a car running on gas is noticeably less. When transitioning from the initial liquefied state to the gaseous state, it cools to a temperature of – 130? Gas consumption on a VAZ 2112 will be 10-15% higher than gasoline (according to reviews from existing owners of LPG).
Installation and configuration
To install gas equipment on a car with your own hands, for example, such as a VAZ 2110, 2107 with a carburetor or injector, having purchased gas equipment, you need to make sure that it is completely complete. The equipment consists of:
- gas cylinder. In most cases it has an elongated or toroidal shape;
- a multi-valve that switches the LPG mode from “operational” to “refueling” and back;
- gas hose for refilling, designed for high operating pressure;
- high pressure line connecting the reducer to the multivalve;
- an evaporator reducer that reduces the pressure level in the fuel system;
- a gas valve that closes and opens the gas supply channels to the evaporator;
- a gasoline valve that allows gasoline to access the carburetor or an emulator for an injection engine;
- a mechanical or electronic dispenser responsible for precise fuel supply;
- fuel switch buttons installed in the car interior;
- mixer; it is necessary if the connection to the carburetor was not carried out in advance, as well as for the injector;
- gas fuel pressure register on the manifold.
Important! When purchasing a gas equipment, check the completeness of the equipment.
Installation is carried out in the following sequence:
- installation of a cylinder;
- installation of the gearbox on the frame (under the hood);
- connecting the multivalve to the cylinder so that the inscription “TOR” on the scale is directed upward;
- connecting tubes from the filler to the cylinder and from it to the reducer;
- the antifreeze pipe is connected to the gearbox;
- installation of a switch button in the cabin and connection of wires according to the diagram attached to it;
- connecting an injector emulator, for a carburetor engine - installing a gasoline valve, with a rupture in the fuel supply hose behind the gasoline pump;
- installation and connection of a mixer supplying gas to the manifold (before the throttle valve).
The installation of gas equipment on a VAZ 2114 is carried out similarly.
After the HBO is installed, you will need to configure it. It's also easy to do yourself. First, the idle speed is set, then the sensitivity of the gearbox and the dispenser are adjusted. If you doubt your competence, you can use the services of professional auto mechanics at a service station.
Adjustment
After completing the checks, we begin adjusting the system.
- By switching the toggle switch on the button for selecting the type of fuel on which the car operates to the “Gasoline” position, we start the car engine in normal mode and warm it up with gasoline to operating temperature (80-90°C).
- While the engine warms up to operating temperature, unscrew the screw/screws on the dispenser to completely open the channel for the gas mixture to enter the mixer.
- We tighten the screw for supplying the mixture to chamber 2 until it stops.
- 1st – idle speed screw; it regulates the amount of propane-butane mixture that will be supplied to the engine when the gearbox diaphragm is closed.
- 2nd sensitivity screw, which regulates the opening moment of the membrane and the gas pressure when pressing the throttle.
- Before starting adjustments, turn screw 1 all the way, then unscrew it 1 turn, screw 2 turn it all the way and unscrew it 3 turns.
- When the engine reaches operating temperature (80-90°C), we move the fuel type switch to the neutral position (for engines equipped with a carburetor) to produce gasoline from the float chamber.
- After the remaining gasoline has been completely exhausted from the float chamber (the engine is trying to stall), we move the toggle switch for the fuel mode selection button to the “GAS” position.
- Using screw 1, we try to set the idle speed to about 750-850 rpm. Preventing the engine from stalling using the throttle.
- After setting a stable idle speed, we begin to carefully tighten screw 2 and look for the moment when the car begins to change its operation, trying to stall.
- Next, by opening the throttle, we bring the engine speed to 3000 -3500, maintain them, and begin to tighten the feed screw on the mixer (with 2 chambers, tighten the feed screw “I” of the 1st chamber) until we hear that the engine becomes “sluggish” - this is a transitional moment .
- After detecting this behavior of the engine, unscrew the feed screw on the mixer by 0.5 - 0.75 turns and leave it like that.
- Again, use screw 1 on the gearbox to set the stable idle speed to about 750-850 rpm. Unscrew the mixture supply screw on the mixer “II” into chamber 2 by 1 turn. We check the settings of the gearbox and dispenser of the car while driving, and if necessary, adjust the settings.
If it is necessary to increase or decrease the speed at which the injection engine itself switches to operating on a propane-butane mixture, you must:
by turning the adjusting resistance on the switch button, achieve the required value of the desired parameter.
For a carburetor car, the delay time for automatically turning off the gas when starting the engine on a gas mixture is adjusted in the same way by turning the adjusting resistance on the switch button clockwise (decreases), counterclockwise - increases.
This concludes the adjustment of the 2nd generation HBO.

Connection diagram
As you can see, the connection diagram for the LPG on the VAZ 2110 injector is not particularly complicated. For example, let's look at the connection features of some more models. When installing gas equipment on a VAZ 2109 with a carburetor, the gas reducer and valve are installed directly in the engine compartment. The output on the valve is connected to the input on the gearbox. The inlet side of the valve is connected to the fuel line. The evaporator reducer is connected to the cooling system. To ensure quick heating, it is advisable to place it next to the stove (on the right side). To connect to the cooling system, the following steps will be required:
- the tube going to the heater radiator is disconnected;
- the tube through which heated antifreeze is transferred is placed in the direction from the gearbox housing to the booster pump;
- the next tube connects the reducer to the heater tap.
When the gearbox is installed, you need to start installing the regulator that supplies gas to the carburetor, which you will have to cut into if there is no mixer for supplying fuel. To do this, holes are drilled in its chambers to accommodate special fittings, to which gas pipes are connected.
When installing gas equipment on a VAZ 2121, there is one feature: you can save space in the trunk by placing the cylinder under the bottom of the car. To do this, you will need to make the appropriate fasteners; This arrangement will allow it not to take up trunk space.
About HBO generations
LPG equipment is a set for storing, supplying and ensuring the operation of internal combustion engines using gas - liquefied propane-butane or compressed methane. It began to develop during the reign of the carburetor, when the injector was just “in its infancy”.
HBO has evolved as engines have improved, adapting to standard injection systems and adapting to control systems. Modern cars are already in their sixth generation, characterized by perfection and high cost. The first ones were fundamentally not much different from each other and were divided into two types depending on the fuel supply:
In subsequent generations, the operating principle changed, efficiency, productivity and economy increased.
How to correctly install a 4th generation LPG on a VAZ 2110 8 valves
In Western countries, which are advanced in the field of automotive technology, equipment that allows the operation of equipment on gas fuel has been developed quite a long time ago. As a result of this re-equipment, automobile vehicles originally designed to use gasoline fuel were able to consume alternative fuel.
From the point of view of an automotive specialist, domestic cars are significantly outdated in this regard. Only recently released models are equipped with relatively modern fuel systems. Considering these points, some car enthusiasts believe that the use of gas equipment on a VAZ is fundamentally impossible. However, this is far from true: it is quite possible to install LPG on a VAZ, both for cars using a carburetor and injection ones.
This material discusses examples of installing gas equipment on a VAZ 2110 with an injector, as well as on other models, taking into account design features and engine types.
Dismantling. How and why should it be done?
Of course, the decision to remove gas equipment from a car can be called drastic, but in certain cases it is absolutely necessary, for example, when traveling abroad. As a rule, this work is carried out under the pressure of circumstances beyond the control of the owner. Let's look at the most common cases:
- The installed system is not registered as additional equipment, and the vehicle cannot be registered with the MPEO, which entails partial or complete dismantling of the gas equipment.
- The wear and tear of equipment depends on various operational indicators, and on average, according to the pros, high-quality equipment is ready to run from eighty to one hundred and twenty thousand kilometers without major repairs. But, when the condition of the system requires deep and expensive repairs, then it is worth carrying out a planned replacement, which will be more expedient and sometimes cheaper.
- The owner of the car has not previously used automotive gas equipment and now refuses to deal with its official registration and maintenance.

Installation of gas equipment
We drill holes in the intake manifold for the HBO jets. The drill must be smaller than the diameter of the jets, because you will have to cut the thread. After this, do not forget to clean the collector of metal shavings. We apply sealant to the jets and screw them into the manifold.
We connect to the pipes and install the manifold in the reverse order, using a new gasket. We connect the second ends of the pipes to the gas distributor. We install a gas distributor below the manifold.
- We install the gas reducer.
- Connect one end of the gas supply hose to the distributor.
- The second horse is to the gearbox.
- We install a low pressure filter between them.
We connect the gearbox to the engine cooling system:
Causes
Increased fuel consumption in a car may depend on several reasons; below we will present elements of the LPG system that can influence the increase in gas mixture consumption by the car.
Gas leak
We highlighted this reason first not only because it is one of the most common, but also because this reason poses a huge danger when operating a vehicle. Leaky connections, wear of rubber pipes or lines lead to increased gas consumption not long in coming. It should be understood that the absence of a gas smell in the car interior does not always mean that there is no leak. To identify and eliminate this cause, you should contact a specialized service station or independently check all connections and pipes for leaks by soaping.
Air leak
Leakage of the LPG system not only affects the vehicle's increased consumption of the gas mixture, but can also cause air leaks, which in turn leads to increased fuel consumption and loss of vehicle power.
Gearbox
Over time, wear of the main elements of the gearbox can cause increased gas consumption in the car. In case of failure of the gearbox or one of its components, you can use the repair tool. a kit to restore the functionality of this element of the HBO system. In most cases, the performance of the gearbox can be restored. If this is not possible, the gearbox will have to be replaced.
Gas injectors
Contamination or failure of gas injectors can also cause increased gas consumption in a car to be an unpleasant experience for the owner every day. This reason is only valid for 4th generation HBO.
If there is banal contamination of the gas injectors (for example, after the formation of condensation in the gas cylinder after winter driving with a “red light”), it is enough to wash them so that the consumption returns to normal.
If one or more injectors fail, you should use a repair. complete set or replace the injectors with new ones. Increased gas consumption occurs as a result of an increase in the fuel supply time of the injectors due to their wear or contamination.
Note! After replacing the injectors with new ones, they must be calibrated!
Electronic control unit
Failures in the operation of the computer can also be one of the reasons for excessive consumption of the gas mixture. In this case, you should contact a specialist who will diagnose and configure the electronic brain of the HBO system, or do this yourself by connecting the ECU to the PC via a special cable.
Propane-butane mixture in winter and summer
One of the factors that influences the fact that HBO gas consumption increases in winter compared to summer is the so-called “winter gas”. Its essence is the increased propane content. The winter gas mixture contains approximately 75% propane and 25% butane, while the summer gas mixture contains about 55% propane and 45% butane.
Based on the fact that butane is 10-15% more energy efficient than propane, and its share in the winter gas mixture is smaller, gas consumption by car in winter increases due to a decrease in the efficiency of the mixture.
The general efficiency standards for winter and summer mixtures are as follows:
- 1.19 liters of summer mixture are approximately equivalent to 1 liter of gasoline;
- 1.25 liters of winter mixture is approximately equivalent to 1 liter of gasoline.
Thus, increased gas consumption in winter is normal.
A poor-quality gas mixture can also cause gas costs per 100 km of travel to increase significantly. You can check the quality of the mixture and consumption by changing the gas station.
Air filter
Although this element does not belong to the LPG system, it plays a huge role in the increased gas consumption of a car. Experts in the field of LPG systems recommend changing the air filter of a car with LPG every 5-7 thousand km.
We have identified the main reasons for increased gas consumption, related specifically to the LPG system, but we should not forget about the reasons for increased fuel consumption that are common to gasoline, diesel and gas. We will talk about them in the next article.
Do-it-yourself installation of 4th generation LPG gas Photo report. Instructions for description and installation step by step..
Rules for installing 4th generation HBO. We take several things into account when installing the GEARBOX:
The place where the gearbox with connected hoses should be located should be easily accessible for removing and servicing the gearbox, or rather replacing filters.
Position the gearbox as far away as possible or taking into account engine vibration, that is, the gearbox mount should ALWAYS be located on the main frame of the car NOT ON THE ENGINE.
Consider the location for connecting the antifreeze hoses, taking into account the bends of the hoses. It is important that the hoses are not twisted or kinked during installation. That is, to ensure unhindered circulation of the antifreeze passing through the hose to the gearbox through the system.
Consider the location for the main gas supply via a copper or plastic pipe. This procedure is also important to avoid tube kinks during operation of the machine and subsequent dismantling of the gearbox in the future.
Having chosen a convenient place, you can attach the gearbox to the selected location.
The next step is CONNECTING THE ANTIFICE HOSES.
WE CONSIDER
several things when installing antifreeze hoses:
There is an ENTRANCE for the supply of antifreeze to the heater radiator and an OUTPUT for the return of antifreeze from the heater radiator. They are not always conveniently located for insertion into the system, but it is important to connect to them. In rare cases, craftsmen use other connection points, but this requires them to know where to get the antifreeze SUPPLY and where to connect the RETURN correctly. If you are not sure where the supply and return are, then it is better not to tempt fate. If it is connected incorrectly or inserted into the cooling system, the antifreeze will not sufficiently warm up the gearbox or the antifreeze will stagnate. Which means no circulation.
When connecting the hoses into the cooling system to the stove. Consider the presence of a SHUT-OFF VALVE. Sometimes in cars there is a valve first, then the hose is connected to the supply to the heater radiator. The connection must be made up to the shut-off valve. By cutting in a tee.
Use only connections through a tee and not through a 90″ angle. Connecting through a tee is considered a parallel connection, which means an equal supply of hot antifreeze to both the gearbox and the heater radiator. This is necessary so that both the interior of the car and the gearbox itself receive an equal portion of heat in temperature. This way you are warmed up and the reducer operates in the required gas heating mode.
Installation of gas pipeline wiring
Next, you need to deal with the gas pipeline wiring. It is necessary to drill a hole from the cylinder valve to the engine compartment. Moreover, the gas pipeline is usually run along the bottom of the car.
To ventilate the multivalve, you need to drill a hole with a slightly larger diameter and insert a piece of plastic pipe into this hole.
These inserted tubes must be treated with mastic to prevent rust from appearing in the future. You need to run a gas line through these plastic tubes and secure it well so that it stays away from the moving parts in the car.
The latest cars converted to gas
Since 1996, we have installed gas equipment on 40,000 cars in service centers in Moscow and St. Petersburg. See photo of the service area
I have known about gas for a long time; moreover, I actively use it. I have a fleet of 23 Gazelles (commercial transportation), and thanks to HBO, every year I save on another one of these Gazelles. Maybe even more. The cylinders are installed at 105 liters, which is quite enough. The most important thing is to go to normal installers who will install it well and give a guarantee.
I put gas on my Ford Explorer. Briefly about the installation. The guys installed everything quickly and competently, no complaints. I took it yesterday and picked it up today with a brand new G.B.O. They installed Lovato for six cylinders, the torus cylinder and VZU were cut into the hatch. In general, we tried our best. I appreciated the benefits of gas immediately after leaving the pit. Let me start with the fact that I didn’t notice any difference at all - you switch from gasoline to gas and from gas to gasoline smoothly, there is not even a minimal transition. There is no smell in the cabin, although, having read all sorts of forums, I was most afraid of this - the smell of gas. And now about saving. I think that the fuel consumption of my car is high, and this is not always justified. If I used to drive on gasoline and spend 15 on the highway and 21.5 in the city, now it takes me 16 on the highway and 23 in the city. However, if previously it took me about 2,700 rubles per week. on fuel, now I spend a little more than one and a half thousand.
Why do we need special candles?
Not everyone understands what spark plugs are needed for gas equipment and why it is better to choose special elements of the ignition system.
Conventional spark plugs are designed to ignite a standard air-fuel mixture. If such parts are installed in a system where a mixture of air and gas burns, they will quickly fail.
We must not forget that the electrical resistance indicators of gas mixtures are much higher in comparison with gasoline compositions. Therefore, for effective ignition it is necessary to make a minimum gap between the electrodes. Otherwise, fire simply will not happen.
Having created special candles, manufacturing companies decided not to stop there.
Having asked developers which ignition system spark plugs would be best for gas equipment, most of them will probably answer that the favorites are parts using noble materials. This automatically increases their cost.
But there is a logical explanation. Special candles are needed for the reasons that combustion of the fuel mixture (gas and air) occurs at a higher temperature than when oxygen and gasoline ignite. And high temperature load significantly accelerates the wear of elements. Their service life decreases.
Potentially, ordinary gasoline spark plugs can work on a car with LPG. But their effectiveness will be significantly lower. Plus, they will quickly lose their service life.
To increase the durability of parts, manufacturers began to introduce higher quality raw materials into production. There are several main components that are often found in the composition of HBO candles.
- Iridium. The material is used in the manufacture of the central electrode. It turns out to be more resistant to wear and temperature. Plus ensures efficient ignition.
- Platinum. Used as soldering. Apply to side electrodes. Again, with the aim of increasing the service life.
- Copper. With its help, heat is better removed. Copper is used in the production of side electrode rods.
In some situations, design changes are made to the candles. Special protective layers are applied to the body. Thus, carbon deposits do not form so intensively on the surfaces of the spark plugs.
In practice, there are not many parts that can really effectively cope with the ignition of the gas-air mixture, as well as resist the resulting loads.
Conclusion
To summarize, it can be noted that a VAZ 2110 car, regardless of the engine type, can be converted to use gas fuel, and this work is easy to do independently.
Gas began to appear in passenger cars relatively recently - only a quarter of a century ago. Simple injection systems did not require complex gas equipment, so the first generation received practically no electronics. Consumption and dynamic characteristics after switching to gas left much to be desired. The advent of 2nd generation gas equipment marked the beginning of a massive transition to gas.
Filters
Protection of injectors from contamination should be provided by gas vapor fraction filters, which are installed after the reducer before entering the gas injectors. But not all of their designs clean gas effectively. There are several types of vapor fraction filters. The cheapest ones have a paper filter element inserted into a single-flow cylindrical housing. These filters are ineffective in catching oily fractions.
Cheap paper filters for the vapor fraction are ineffective in the presence of oily fractions in the gas.

I drove on gas for 3 years and dismantled the internal combustion engine, everything in place. Nothing burned and the saddles are in place. So I’m still going to install an injector, if home gas stations start selling methane, if not, then propane butane!

It is necessary to distinguish between HBO. There are methane and propane-butane. I strongly do not recommend installing the first one. Firstly, installing the equipment is 2 times more expensive, and the cylinders take up a lot of space. Secondly, the network of CNG filling stations is extremely underdeveloped. Thirdly, little gas can be placed in cylinders, no more than 250-500 km, and with no CNG filling station infrastructure, refueling will become a problem. There are quite a few gas stations running on propane-butane, and in comparison with gasoline there are many advantages that the oil industry workers themselves write about. If spending on gasoline does not greatly affect your income, then there is no point in it.

I drove on gas for 6 years and there is no trace of such “symptoms”. Yes, seats burn out from improper valve adjustment or from “saving” gas. Some people, trying to save money, cover the gas, thereby increasing the amount of oxygen, which heats up both the piston bottom and, naturally, the exhaust gases. It’s a myth that the rings would fall apart. Same thing about the carburetor. I disassemble and overhaul the engine myself, adjust it and am happy with the LPG.
In 3 Gazelles, two engines were replaced in 10 years. The pistons and valve seats burned out. And there’s nothing to say about consumption. On one cylinder you can travel 300, or even 150. (This is when refueling in one place). As a result, they removed HBO from all cars and we don’t know any grief. Italian HBO 3-4 generations. Setting up at a service station. By the way: the queues at gas stations have completely disappeared. There are fewer and fewer people who like to drive on gas. Gomel. Belarus.

Accessories
To install 2nd generation HBO on an injector you will need the following components:
- Gas cylinder with multi-valve and filling valve;
- Consumable and filling line;

Many benefits
A car converted to run on gas has many advantages over its mono-fuel counterparts: increased range, less load on the engine piston group, improved environmental characteristics - but the main motivation for converting to gas is still the economic component.
Since 1996, the main activity has been the installation of gas equipment (LPG). Gas equipment has become widespread in Russia and our company is a leader in the field of converting cars to gas.

Frequent breakdowns, how to fix them
Let's look at the most common breakdowns of gas equipment on a car and how to repair them yourself.
The most common causes of breakdowns of gas equipment in cars are damage to connections in gas pipelines, seals and gaskets in gas valves and distribution devices.
By the nature of the vehicle's behavior when running on gas, one can judge the location of equipment damage. If the filter is clogged or the gearbox is faulty, the engine will have unstable idling and failures during sudden acceleration (pressing the gas pedal).
You can determine the location of a gas leak using a soap solution, which is applied to the areas of the gas line being tested using a brush or sponge. The liquid will bubble at the leak site.
When filling with low-quality gas, the gas filter may become clogged. It is not necessary to change the filter on your car. It is enough to disassemble it and wash it in some solvent.
On which injection cars can HBO-2 be installed?
You should understand the fact that since 2008, the Euro-3 environmental standard came into force in Russia. This means that all cars produced this year must meet the requirements of this environmental standard.
If we consider Euro-3 in the context of gas equipment, then the installation of LPG-2 on Euro-3 standard cars is complicated by the presence of a second lambda probe in such cars. This does not mean that it is impossible to install HBO-2 on such cars. This means that setting up and subsequent operation of the 2nd generation LPG on a fuel-injected internal combustion engine of a car that complies with the Euro-3 standard is difficult and economically unjustified. For cars of this class, it is best to install 4th generation gas equipment or higher.
If we consider fuel-injected cars from early years of production (these could be fuel-injected VAZ, Lanos/Sens, or foreign cars of Euro-2 standard), then installing GBO-2 on them is possible and justified.
Installation of a gas mixture dispenser
Now it’s time to install the gas mixture dispenser; it is placed between the mixer and the gearbox, but it is also better to install it close to the carburetor. A gas pipeline must be installed to the dispenser, which comes from the reducer, and a gas pipeline must be led from it to the mixer.
The most important thing is that all the gas equipment parts are fixed in place, and the entire system is sealed.
Examples of savings in Moscow
For example, let's calculate two distances:
- From Red Square to the Moscow Ring Road and back in Moscow 50 km. How much gas does one save per month of such trips?
- From Moscow to Sochi - 1600 km. How much cheaper will it be to fill up with gas?

The car is handed over to the customer turnkey with all the necessary documents. Prices vary depending on the selected equipment, cylinder, engine power and customer wishes.
The following are discussed separately:
- Installing a filling device in the gas tank hatch; Installation of EURO multivalve; Additional cylinder; Additional gearbox; Valve lubrication systems.
Checking tightness and functionality
But after the installation of the gas equipment is completed, all elements of the circuit will need to be checked for leaks.
There is only one way to do this check. To do this, you will need to fill the gas cylinder at a gas station. But you don’t need to fill it completely, just blow 10 liters of gas into it.
It should be noted that before refilling the cylinder, the line leading from the multivalve to the engine compartment must be closed. After refueling, the line should not be opened yet.
It is convenient to check for leaks using a soap solution. This solution must be applied to all places where there are connections between pipelines and elements of gas equipment.
Afterwards, you can open the highway and carefully inspect all connections. When gas is passed through any of the elements, the soap solution will begin to bubble. To eliminate gas leakage, the fasteners must be tightened.
Repair of VALTEK gas injectors
It happens that the life of one or several gas injectors comes to an end. This manifests itself in the fact that the machine, when operating on a gas mixture, begins to stall, there is a loss of power, unstable engine operation and a characteristic “clatter” of one or more gas injectors. It is this “clatter” that appears after the sealing rings and rubber bands on the rods wear out and means that it is time to repair the gas injectors.
What do we have to do
Repairing VALTEK gas injectors involves several simple steps, namely:
- removing the ramp from the car;
- dismantling the ramp and all its components;
- replacement of rods, springs and rubber rings with new ones from repair. kit;
- subsequent assembly of injectors and their adjustment;
- installing the ramp back onto the car.
Disassembling gas injectors
The first step to removing the ramp from the car is to shut off the gas supply to the LPG line by closing the flow valve on the gas cylinder.
- Exhaust all the gas from the line; to do this, start the car with the valve closed and wait until it switches to gasoline, then force the system to switch to gas two or three more times.
- Before disconnecting the wires and removing the ramp, be sure to mark which wire belonged to which of the gas coils. This can be done using a marker or multi-colored electrical tape. When assembling, you must accurately determine whether the wire belongs to one or another coil.
- Unscrew the fasteners and remove the ramp. When unscrewing the clamps, you will hear residual gas escaping - this is a normal situation.
- Using a 12mm wrench, unscrew the calibration jets.
Remove the corkscrew rings, carefully folding them so as not to lose them. Remove the coils. If you made marks on the coils with a marker, mark which coil was in which place so as not to confuse them during assembly. If you made marks on the ramp itself, the order of installing the coils may not be followed.
Using a 14 key, unscrew the guides and carefully remove them. If one rod is being replaced, during disassembly, it is imperative to mark the rod-seat pair so that they are not confused during reassembly. If all parts are replaced, the order may not be followed. Remove the rods and springs from the guides.
Conduct a visual inspection of the rods and rubber bands, determining whether you need to use a repair kit or not. If the rubber band is completely worn out, metal comes into contact with metal, resulting in a characteristic “clicking” sound.
If the rod itself has a satisfactory appearance, you can replace only the rubber band and the spring (also in case of wear); to do this, remove the old rubber band from the rod with a sharp object (an awl) and place a new one in its place. If the mileage of the injectors is significant, the rod should also be replaced.
Carefully inspect and replace worn parts with new ones on all injectors, then reassemble the ramp in reverse order.
