On the one hand, they were recognized as the best among their classmates, on the other hand, there are certain problems with them and they need to be eliminated - under warranty or independently, whoever prefers.

Let’s immediately make a reservation that no “collective farm” is required, as was the case with previous models from AVTOVAZ. All problems are fixed under warranty and without any problems from the manufacturer. All modifications are “custom-made” exclusively at the request of the owner of the LADA Vesta car.

Mirror in analysis

I took apart the old mirror “to the bones”. It became clear how everything works there and where is the source of the glass rattling at high speeds (“the vacuum zone on the back of the case slams”). In short, the situation is this. The assembly from the body to the mirror sheet is assembled sequentially, and the plastic plate itself with glued glass is snapped into place at the very end.

At the same time, apparently, snapping it back in its entirety is very problematic! You have to press the spacers out of the grooves, but they are under glass! If it breaks, there is no problem, with a decent amount of force it will pop out, but to take it apart without damaging it and then snap it back... hardly.

And the reason for the slacking is simple. There, the plate with the mirror is attached to a movable slide, which on one side is fixed to the side of the ring with a spherical base and is held by a small pin inserted into a hole in this side, and on the other - to gear brackets, which, when the axis rotates, pushes out 2 parallel motors with gears the drawstring is pulled outward or, conversely, pulled inward.

The slide and the support ring are rigidly connected, and the ring, following the slide, moves freely back and forth, turning the mirror. And all this is pushed apart (and in theory should prevent vibration) by a hollow rubber ring (pictured on the left):

But it has thin walls and is very soft. I think when the air blows at speed, its elasticity becomes insufficient. The solution seems simple - increase the elasticity of the rubber ring (for example, by inserting a strip of foam rubber inside it).

But, I repeat, it is unlikely that you will be able to get there and unfasten the mirror from the stops without damaging the glass! So IMHO it’s easier not to take risks and try to disassemble the mirror, but, as Vid suggests, to adjust the position and support the edge of the glass with an elastic band inserted into the shelf between the glass and the body.

Installation

Remove standard rear view mirrors (instructions)
Install power folding mirrors.
Remove the front door trims (instructions).
Install the DSZ-1 controller on the driver's door (using double-sided tape).
We extend the wires from the mirror folding motor (blue and yellow) on the right side to the control unit in the driver's door (to do this, we make a hole in the driver's door block).
Install a new outside mirror control unit in the driver's door.
We make the connection (see diagrams below).

Features of side mirrors

Good review. As mentioned earlier, in terms of visibility, the side mirrors on Vesta are ahead of the mirrors of such models as Polo, Logan, Rio and Fiesta. There are no complaints about the location of the mirrors themselves.
Turn signal repeater. All trim levels have turn signal repeaters built into the side mirrors. But the repeater itself has certain disadvantages, which we will discuss below.
Heating and electric drive. Even the simplest car equipment has the function of heating the side mirrors and electrically adjustable ones.
Folding. Mirrors can be folded, but only manually. Both mirrors have clear locking positions and even a protective spring that will prevent the mirror from breaking if it accidentally hits an obstacle when reversing.

How to make electric folding mirrors of a new type on Lada Largus FL, Vesta

On the Lada Largus FL car (facelift from 2022), new mirrors with housings from Vesta 2181 began to be installed on the assembly line. There is no function for electrically folding mirrors from the factory, but you can modify the design with your own hands.

Replace the pacifier in the mirror with a motor.
Make a connection.

2. At the left mirror, pull out all the blocks with wires through the bushing.

3. You will have to unpin the connector on the right mirror, because... a temperature sensor is used.

4. Disconnect the mirror housing from the bracket (snap the latches, remove the screws, press the bushing with pliers)

5. Deliver the pacifier and install an electric motor instead. We connect the block with wires to the engine.

6. Reassemble in reverse order.

How to install and secure heated side mirrors

To assemble and connect the side mirrors yourself, you will need minimal electrical knowledge and dexterity. You must act in the following sequence:

A set of mirrors equipped with an internal heating system is purchased.
Heated mirrors for Lada Granta
The standard side mirrors are removed from the car in the manner described above.
After installation, the top cover on the side mirror housing opens.
This gives access to the wiring socket (it is supplied with the mirrors). The side mirror housing is opened and the electrical wiring is connected.
The wires are connected to the socket and inserted into the door through the mirror housing.
Use a Phillips screwdriver to remove the plastic trim from the door.

The wiring runs through the door and dashboard to the fuse box, next to which there is a relay with a plug for turning on the heated mirrors.

Folding exterior mirrors

The external rear view mirrors are folded manually, with a slight force from the reverse side in the direction of the door glass.

In a variant, the folding of the mirrors is carried out using the button located on the driver's door switch block, or by long pressing the vehicle lock button on the remote control. By long pressing the lock button on the remote control, the car doors are closed and after 2 seconds the mirrors are folded. If the car has been locked by briefly pressing the car lock button, the mirrors will not be folded. In this case, after locking the car for 25 seconds, it is possible to press and hold again to activate the folding mirror function. The mirrors fold out using a button located on the driver's door switch block, or in automatic mode after starting the engine .

After using the exterior rear view mirrors for a long time in the folded state (in the park position), before returning the mirror housing to working condition, you must make sure that nothing is obstructing the movement of the housing, for example: snow, ice, dirt, etc. If possible interference is detected, you should eliminate them to avoid failure of the folding gear motor.

When auto mode is used in cold weather, the outside mirror housing may freeze and auto folding may not function. In this case, remove ice and snow (or other obstructions) from the outside mirror, and then either operate the mirror using the automatic mode or move the mirror housing by hand. If you cannot remove the ice and unlock the frozen mechanism, then move the car to a warm place and wait until the ice melts.

Note. If the mirror housing has moved from its previously set position, follow the procedure below to return it to the correct position:

1. Fold the mirrors using the door mirror folding button.

2. Wait until you hear a sound inside the mirror, which confirms that the drive is properly engaged (there may be no click, depending on the displacement of the housing).

3. Fold out the mirrors using the exterior mirror folding button.

Do not fold or adjust mirrors while driving.

Do not start driving with folded mirrors.

Before driving, the driver's and front passenger's exterior mirrors must be unfolded and adjusted correctly.

To avoid injury or damage to the mirror, be careful not to get your hand caught in the mirror while adjusting it.

How to turn on the heated windshield

The design of the system is in many ways identical to foreign analogues, namely: second generation Renault Logan, Renault Duster, Ford, Renault Clio.

The mode is activated by pressing one mechanical button, which is installed in the center of the dashboard at the bottom. One function key is responsible for heating the front, rear, and side windows. In the maximum configuration, Lada Vesta is equipped with a “Defrost MAX” button. When pressed, it starts the maximum speed mode of the stove heater, heating, and air conditioning system. This is extremely necessary to prevent fogging and reduced visibility.

Disadvantages of exterior mirrors

Lack of electric folding mechanism . A clear drawback that cannot be compensated for, even for an additional fee.
Rattling and shaking . Some owners of Vesta cars report that while driving they hear a rattling sound from the mirrors, and the mirror itself becomes uninformative as it shakes violently. Perhaps these are isolated assembly problems, but the problem is not widespread.
Turn signal fogging . Many Vestas have a problem with fogging of the turn signals built into the side mirrors. The manufacturer recognizes the problem and therefore replaces the entire mirror assembly under warranty without any problems. From the first visit to the dealer to replacing the mirror, it usually takes 3-5 days.
Difficulty replacing the LED . The turn signal operates using an LED, so it cannot be replaced quickly. You can replace the LED lamp assembly, but the dealer will not be able to do this now, since the manufacturer officially recommends that if the light element fails, you replace the entire mirror.

It is important to note that component manufacturers are already offering to buy an assembled repeater, which can be installed to replace a burnt-out one, without replacing the entire mirror. Of course, this option is cheaper, but you can save even more if you replace the LED yourself. You will find out how to do this below.
