Often heated mirrors come in an anti-glare version and with a left aspherical mirror. The photo below compares an aspherical (top) and a conventional (bottom) mirror. An aspherical mirror produces a smaller image, and at first it appears very distorted. However, the area covered by the mirror is much larger, which helps when cornering, for example, at merging streams. Anti-reflective coating gives a darker, more pleasing picture.
PS: of course, everything can be done simpler and faster, but the above option assumes guaranteed reliable installation of the electrical part.
And update from 10.2012: a HU-3/WF-3 connector was installed on the wires leading to the mirror, which makes it easy to remove the mirror. You don't need to pay attention to the third wire - it's for illumination.

How to adjust the side rear view mirror

- 1. Apply pressure on the lower part of the mirror until a gap forms on top;
- 2. Insert a screwdriver into the gap that has formed and, using lever pressure with a screwdriver, disconnect the fastening clamps;
- 3. Remove the mirror by disconnecting the electrical contacts;
- 4. Then, in strict reverse order to the previous one, install the mirror element in its place.
- 1. Press down the lower part of the surface of the mirror element until a gap forms at the top between the glass and the side mirror housing;
- 2. Then, using a curved object, or if there is none, a screwdriver through the resulting gap, apply pressure to the center of the mirror from the inside. Moreover, by carrying out all the installation work yourself, you will be able to optimize the relay and all operating principles as much as possible. You can also consider installing reflectors from a VAZ 2110 to a VAZ 2114, since the standard mounts in this model are ideally suited and positioned for such an operation. In addition, they will be ideally installed on the VAZ 2109.
Incandescent lamp method.
One good method, and also a cheap one, is to install car-type incandescent lamps in the reflectors. Such lamps have sufficient power (21 watts) to melt any frozen glass in a couple of minutes. The ideal way out of this method is to install two light bulbs of 10 watts each, while the load will not be so great, and you will certainly be satisfied with the result of such tuning.

As we have already said, perhaps the largest category of cars that do not have heated side reflectors as standard are VAZ cars. How to replace a mirror on a VAZ 2110
I once went to auto stores to look for a plug for the hydraulic corrector in the headlight. I couldn't find it anywhere. Well, in order not to offend the car, I decided to change the mirror element of the outside rear view mirror. The factory mirror became swollen with something and became unpleasant to look at.
First I removed the mirror itself. He unscrewed the screw in the handle. He pulled it out (it was difficult to give in). I opened the door and lowered the window (this is much more convenient). The triangular overlay was also difficult to give in. There are three pins, I pry it with a screwdriver and take it out. All that remains is to unscrew the mirror mounting bolts. There I immediately remembered how they were adjusted (the holes are oval, you can move them back and forth). I unscrewed them and took them off. In the store, the salesman intimidated me that one of them tried to do it on the spot and broke three mirrors, and advised me to go and do it calmly at home on a hard surface. He brought it home and started... He twisted it, turned it, and tried to bend the bottom of the mirror with his finger. It didn’t give in at all. I decided to unscrew this screw
I pulled it back and there was this white plastic piece there, it just stuck out.

I tightened the same screw so that the mirror would lock into place and not dangle. He leveled it approximately and began to press little by little, as if rocking, until the mirror was fixed. There was no particularly strong click, but it was clear that the mirror element was in place.

Applying chrome vinyl film to the mirror body
To apply chrome vinyl film to a mirror you will need:
- stationery knife;
- squeegee (for smoothing the film over the surface of the body);
- construction hairdryer
The film is applied as follows:
- The surface of the mirror body is cleaned of dirt and dried. In this case, you can use any cleaning products.
- The paper backing is removed from a piece of film cut to the size of the mirror.
- Using a hair dryer, the film is heated to 50–60°C.
- The heated film stretches in all directions. It is more convenient to do this together, holding the film by the corners. The film is stretched so that its size increases by 15–20%. This is done so that wrinkles do not appear in the places where the film will be cut.
For a tighter fit to the mirror body, the film stretches in all directions - The film cools and is placed on the largest flat part of the body. From the center to the edges, the film is smoothed with a rubber or plastic squeegee until wrinkles appear.
- Sections of the film with folds are stretched to the edge of the mirror body. If necessary, these areas can be heated with a hairdryer.
The film is stretched from the center to the edges of the mirror body - The entire surface of the film is heated. As a result, it should stretch across the entire mirror body without bubbles or folds.
- The free edge of the film is cut off with a margin and wrapped inward - where the reflective element is installed.
- The folded edge is heated and pressed with a squeegee.
- The entire surface of the film is smoothed again with a squeegee.
In my practice, I had to use film. In order to stick it successfully, you need to practice and acquire certain skills, without which you can ruin everything.
