The vast majority of models of the AvtoVAZ concern, starting from 2101 and ending with the Lada Priora or Kalina, were produced from the assembly line in the form of sedans, liftbacks, hatchbacks or station wagons of the compact or subcompact class.

However, this difference does not mean that the 4x98 bolt pattern does not allow the installation of X-Ray wheels on older cars. On the contrary, all products are fully compatible; drivers do not even need to use spacer plates, since the nut can be screwed all the way and securely fixes the wheel.
Among all the products of the AvtoVAZ concern, such models as the VAZ 2121, or the classic Niva and all derivatives of this SUV have always stood out: the 5-door Taiga, Chevrolet Niva and other models. Due to increased loads on the hubs and wheels due to unsatisfactory road conditions, for which all parameters of the Niva were designed, these compact all-terrain vehicles traditionally had a disc bolt pattern of 5x139.7, with a central hole diameter of 98.5 mm.
These increased indicators allowed the wheel to freely resist bending moment, absorb large loads when the center of gravity is shifted to one side when moving on an inclined plane or when the wheels are forced to hang, and also allowed the car to transmit more torque to the tire treads when driving uphill without the risk of breaking parts .

What tires are suitable for a Lada Priora car in the winter?
The winter tires supplied with this car have a special rubber composition that retains its softness and elasticity at different temperatures. The sipes in the tread pattern of these tires have a special structure that removes excess moisture, dirt or snow from the surface of the rubber. Such wheels maintain the desired level of vehicle controllability in the winter season.
However, factory tires also have their disadvantages: insufficiently strong fastening of the studs contributes to their rapid loss, and the noise emanating from the wheels while driving reduces driving comfort.
Operational deficiencies
Like most domestic cars, Priora has a rather weak paint coating, as a result of which the body of used cars is covered with chips and scratches. However, the problem with the low quality of metal and the level of anti-corrosion treatment is much more acute. Engine
Both gasoline engines have proven themselves well during operation and are unpretentious in maintenance. The biggest problems are caused by electronic sensors, which cannot serve as a standard for durability. Quite often the throttle valve and the gasket between the head and the cylinder block fail due to the low quality of gasoline. When it gets dirty, the car stalls and loses traction. During operation of the machine, it is necessary to pay sufficient attention to the operation of the cooling system. Quite quickly, especially in the summer, the thermostat can fail, which can lead to overheating of the engine with all the ensuing consequences. Car enthusiasts will not be pleased with the long service life of the ignition coil and fuel pump. The car has a timing belt drive and, according to the manufacturer, its service life is 200 thousand kilometers. However, do not forget that as a result of a broken belt, the valve bends and you have to do a major overhaul of the engine. Therefore, owners of LADA Priora 2008 recommend changing it along with the rollers and pump at least every 100 thousand km.
Transmission
Despite the fact that the car is equipped with no alternative to a manual transmission, this gearbox cannot serve as a standard of reliability. The main disadvantage is weak synchronizers, which, however, is typical for manual transmissions installed on all AvtoVAZ models. The main sign of their failure is a characteristic crunch, which is clearly audible when changing gears. Priora received enhanced clutch from, but the problem of the limited service life of the release bearing was never solved. The service life of the transmission can be extended by using high-quality oil and regularly changing the fluid in the box, which must be done at least once every 75 thousand kilometers.
Chassis and steering
Surely many car enthusiasts are familiar with the problems of domestic cars associated with the short service life of the suspension. However, LADA Priora in this component can compete on equal terms with most budget foreign cars presented on the secondary market. Stabilizer bushings fail most quickly. As a rule, this happens already at 10–20 thousand km. mileage Following them, the stabilizer struts will have to be changed. Steering tips and wheel bearings will last about 40 - 50 thousand km. Replacement of ball joints and support bearings will be required after a mileage of 60 - 70 thousand km. Shock absorbers, CV joints and silent blocks of front levers can last 100 - 120 thousand kilometers. The original brake pads may not survive the first 10 thousand km, so the driver will have to quickly replace them with better analogues.
Poor quality operation of the electric power steering can cause certain troubles. The main signals of such a malfunction are jerking and heaviness when turning the steering wheel. The problem can be resolved by cleaning the electrical wiring contacts of the unit.
Other faults
Both the quality of the materials used for interior decoration and the level of assembly itself deserve great criticism, as a result of which car enthusiasts will have to put up with numerous extraneous sounds throughout the entire period of operation. Moreover, every year there will be more and more of them. Additional installed sound insulation and pasting of elements with vibration-absorbing materials do not help get rid of them either. The driver will constantly have to deal with malfunctions of electrical equipment, which occur mainly due to oxidation of contacts.
Replacing the front wheel hub bearing
There are two ways to replace a bearing. The first is by removing the steering knuckle assembly, the second is without removing it from the car. The work is shown on the right wheel bearing. The left wheel hub bearing is replaced in the same way. We remove the wheel.
Using a screwdriver, remove the protective cap from the hub. We install the wheel and tighten the two bolts that secure it. We lower the car onto its wheels.
Use a bevel to straighten the dented collar of the hub bearing nut in two places. Apply the parking brake, engage first gear and place shoes under the wheels.
Use a 30mm socket to loosen the hub bearing nut. The nut is tightened with a large torque, so the head and driver must be strong enough to transmit the necessary force. We hang up the front part of the car (namely both front wheels, because otherwise the anti-roll bar interferes with dismantling, pushing the suspension elements up). We remove the wheel. Unscrew the hub bearing nut completely...
...and remove the puck. Remove the front wheel brake disc (see “Removing the front wheel brake disc”). Disconnect the right wheel drive from the hub (see “Removing the front wheel drives”). In order not to disturb the wheel alignment angles, you can replace the bearing without removing the steering knuckle. To do this, connect the ball joint to the knuckle...
...and compress the hub by striking it through a soft metal drift. You can also compress the hub using the front wheel brake disc.
We pass M12 × 1.25 mm bolts about 130 mm long through two diametrically opposite holes in the disk and screw them into the holes of the hub to a depth equal to its thickness. By sharply hitting the bolt heads with a disk, we compress the hub. Then use a cup puller to press the bearing out of the knuckle, as shown below. If it was not possible to remove the hub in this way, remove the steering knuckle. To do this, unscrew the nuts of the bolts securing the shock absorber strut to the steering knuckle, remove the bolts (see “Removing the shock absorber strut and disassembling it”) and remove the steering knuckle.
We install the steering knuckle on the jaws of the vice and press the hub out of the knuckle through a mandrel or head of a suitable diameter, applying force to the end of the hub.

R16
Such wheels are sports, and they can be found much less frequently than the two previous options. There are two main types of wheels: forged and stamped. For some tire sizes, it will be necessary to install additional mud flaps, since the tire extends quite far beyond the wheel arches and will quickly pollute the car body. Since tires of this size have a smaller profile, they can only be driven on ideal asphalt without any negative consequences. In addition, when crossing rails, problems may also arise due to the vehicle's clearance.
R17
The largest variation of wheels on the Lada Priora. Also, this disc size is the most expensive, since it is most often produced in a forged version, which is several times more expensive than stamped and cast discs. These wheels are fitted with tires in size 205/40/R17, as shown in the photo. In addition, they can make various turns due to good handling.

Generation 1
Lada Priora is an updated version of the popular VAZ 2110 model, production of which ended in 2007. Over 1,000 changes were made to the design of the “tens,” beloved by many Russians. As a result, a new family of cars appeared, consisting of 3 representatives:

The size of wheels, tires, disks that are installed on a car have a direct impact on its technical characteristics. In the instruction manual, the manufacturer indicates the recommended dimensions, as well as acceptable ones.
The owner of the vehicle, in our case Lada Priora, independently decides what type and size of wheels and tires to install. For the average driver who uses the car as a means of transportation to and from work, the factory rim sizes are more than enough.
In case of tuning, changes in standard characteristics, dynamic indicators, it is necessary to refit the car with non-standard wheel sizes.

The modern market for wheels for the VAZ-2115 is quite extensive and includes different designs and models. At the moment there are three main groups of disks:
- steel;
- cast;
- forged.
Steel wheels
As a rule, when producing cars, AvtoVAZ equips them with steel wheels. But their appearance very often confuses car enthusiasts, so they are not particularly popular. The main advantage of such discs is their low price.
Since stamped steel wheels are very cheap, but their appearance leaves much to be desired, there is a need to additionally purchase plastic or rubber caps. The technical characteristics of these wheels are truly excellent, as the car behaves confidently on the road, maneuverability increases and braking distance decreases.
You should choose such wheels based on the technical characteristics and equipment of the VAZ-2115. To install the disks, you do not need to buy anything additional, because the kit already contains the necessary bolts, nuts and studs. For a more presentable appearance, you can purchase caps.
Alloy wheels
For the manufacture of cast wheels, a light alloy with admixtures of aluminum and magnesium is used. The biggest advantage of these wheels is their appearance. A wide selection of designs allows you to satisfy any car owner. The cost of such disks is slightly higher than steel ones, but much cheaper than forged ones. Therefore, car enthusiasts are increasingly choosing these models.
First of all, when choosing alloy wheels for a VAZ-2115, you should immediately pay attention to the bolts. Often the center hole is slightly wider than the standard bolts
To avoid problems with installing disks, you must additionally purchase an instep support (spacer).
Choosing a suitable arch support is easy when you take into account two parameters:
- The external size must match the size of the central hole of the disk.
- The internal size should be commensurate with the hub.
For example, the central hole of the selected disks is 67.1 mm, the hub is 58.6 mm, therefore, it is necessary to purchase an instep spacer measuring 67.1-58.6 mm.
For alloy wheels, you should buy bolts with smaller heads, since regular bolts are somewhat wider and simply will not fit the holes. In any specialized store you can find a suitable option for a particular disc. Considering these nuances, installing alloy wheels will not take much time and effort.
Advantages of alloy wheels
Alloy wheels are universal and suitable for most vehicles, including the VAZ-2115. The advantages over steel models are obvious, as they:
- Lighter, self-cleaning and does not rust.
- Alloy wheels do not require caps and the car's handling becomes better with them.
- Properly distribute the load on the suspension.

- Affordable price segment.
- Wide choice of designs.
- Fairly light weight.
Forged wheels
The most expensive model on the modern market is forged wheels. They are made from light alloy material under high pressure. At the same time, to obtain the required shape, the disks are processed using special high-precision equipment.
Forged models are characterized by high strength, which exceeds established standards by almost 2.5 times. Therefore, when sports tuning a VAZ-2115, it is better to use this type of disc. If the car is used as usual, then it is recommended to opt for more budget options.
VAZ 2107 tires: features of operation and storage
Safety on the road directly depends on the condition of the wheels of the “Seven”. Therefore, you need to take a responsible approach to the choice of wheels and tires, monitor the condition of the tread and tire pressure. To do this, you need to know the parameters of the wheels, the nominal tire pressure, and the type of tread suitable for specific weather conditions.
Bolt pattern VAZ 2107
The first thing you need to pay attention to when installing wheels is the bolt pattern of the VAZ 2107. The design of the “seven” provides for the bolt pattern of the wheels “98x4” - fastening with four bolts, the holes of which are located on a circle with a diameter of 98 millimeters
Many foreign cars have a close bolt pattern - 100x4. In the first case, the distance between the centers of the bolts is 69.3 mm, in the second - 70.7 mm.
An error of 1.4 mm does not make it possible to properly fasten a “non-original” disk, which over time will lead to damage to the disk, bolts or mounting holes.
There are ways to attach 100x4 wheels to a VAZ 2107 using studs, eccentrics, spacers or extended bolts. But all of them either worsen the reliability of fastening or complicate it unnecessarily. Unless absolutely necessary, it is better to install “native” disks. Improper wheel mounting can cause imbalance and vibration, and in the worst case, a wheel falling off while driving can cause an accident.
Tire pressure VAZ 2107
The nominal tire pressure depends on the type of tire and the load on the vehicle. If the wheels are overinflated or low, the contact patch between the tire and the road changes. This causes deterioration in controllability and an increase in braking distance. In addition, uneven accelerated wear of the tread begins. Over-inflated tires increase wear on the center of the tire, while under-inflated tires increase wear on the edges.
It is recommended to check tire pressure after 500 km, but in practice it is better to do this more often. Small tire punctures, disc and spool defects cause air to escape from individual tires. In this case, the car may drift off course, especially when braking.
The nominal pressure in VAZ 2107 tires depends on the tire size:
- 165/80R13 - 1.6 for front, 1.9 for rear wheels;
- 175/70R13 - 1.7 for front, 2.0 for rear wheels.
In hot weather and when driving, tire pressure increases. With an aggressive driving style, taking sharp turns at high speed, the pressure can increase to 3-4 atmospheres.
The tire material is designed for this and can withstand such changes. But if there is a hernia or cut on the tire, it may explode.
A front tire explosion is especially dangerous, after which it is very difficult to keep the car on the road.
As pressure decreases, rolling resistance increases, which leads to increased fuel consumption. The tire also bends and the car becomes less responsive when maneuvering.
If the tire pressure is too low, the tires may even fall apart when cornering sharply.
Tire selection and storage
- The tire type must be appropriate for the season and road surface conditions. When the average daily temperature is below 5 degrees, you should switch to winter tires, and when it is warmer, to summer tires.
- Summer tires harden at low temperatures and lose grip on the road surface. Winter ones wear out intensively at high temperatures.
- You should not buy studded winter tires if you have to drive on city streets cleared of snow without leaving the city. The studs are good on snow and mud, but do not perform well on asphalt.
- Before storage, tires must be cleaned of dirt and washed.
- Tires should be stored upright on the floor or rack without any sharp edges that could damage the rubber.
- It is unacceptable to store tires hanging from the inner surface - in this position, the edge of the tire adjacent to the rim will be deformed.
- Do not store tires in direct sunlight or outdoors.
- It is unacceptable to place heating devices near tires.

3 types of rims:

The choice depends on financial capabilities. However, it should be borne in mind that the quality of the road surface on which you have to drive every day must also be taken into account.
So, if it gets into a hole, a stamped disk will bend and will not cause harm to the tire, but a forged or cast one can cut it. There is a possibility that the cast disc may burst or crack.
It should also be noted that repairing “stamping” wheels is cheaper than repairing cast or forged wheels. But wheels with high-quality cast and forged disks kill the suspension less, because lighter and have more perfect geometry (better balanced).

What is the tire pressure?
It is the driver's responsibility to constantly monitor tire pressure. This will avoid standard problems associated with vehicle operation. An abnormal pressure value often causes:
- deterioration of management;
- uneven tread wear.
Often the car owner independently reduces the pressure in the wheels of his own vehicle. This reduces the load on the suspension, and the car “passes” various road irregularities an order of magnitude easier. But it is worth noting: a decrease in pressure even by 0.1 MPa leads to serious problems. The main ones include:
- increased fuel consumption;
- rapid wear of the outer tread segments;
- the car becomes less maneuverable.
An overinflated wheel causes no less problems. The central part of the cylinder begins to wear off quickly. In addition, at ambient temperatures of more than 60 degrees Celsius, the tire may simply explode. Which will lead to driving into the oncoming lane.
Parameter importance
In any car model, the drilling parameter is listed as PCD, which stands for Pitch Circle Diameter. The presented indicators are important when choosing a new set of wheels, so that the car owner does not have any difficulties during the purchasing process. Knowing the meaning of drilling, you can choose the most suitable ones from all the wheels available in the store.
It is almost impossible to visually determine the distance between the bolts on a particular car.
But you can easily count the number of fasteners yourself. To measure the diameter, you need at least a ruler, or better yet a caliper, as well as knowledge of special formulas that vary depending on the number of fasteners used.

Recommendations for storing and caring for discs
- During a routine technical inspection, check the geometry and balancing of the wheel on a special diagnostic stand. If deviations are detected, restore the integrity of the structure;
- If cracks or dents form on the rim, immediately contact a service station for preventive maintenance;
- Avoid hitting road potholes at high and medium speeds. Regardless of the material or workmanship, the disk will be deformed and the seal will be compromised;
- Monitor the tire pressure; it should not be lower/higher than recommended by the manufacturer. If it deviates, pump it up;
- Switch to summer/winter mode in a timely manner. This means that in summer the tire pressure is 0.15 atm higher, and in winter it is lower by the same amount. The parameters are specified in the vehicle operating instructions;
- Tighten the rim nuts with a torque wrench. Excessive tightening contributes to the breakage of the studs, weak - an emergency situation, unscrewing the wheel.
In dry, sunny weather, cast aluminum wheels are least susceptible to external damage. But in slush, ice, when the road is strewn with various chemicals, the rim is most susceptible to corrosion. This provokes paint peeling and destruction of the molecular composition.
Systematic polishing allows you to get rid of scratches and burrs. First clean the wheel from dirt, dry it thoroughly, and then treat it with a chemical. Wipe several times with a microfiber cloth.
Store the wheels in a hanging position without touching each other. Pre-clean them, dry them, and wrap them in cellophane.
