These are two sixteen-valve power units with a volume of 1.6 and 1.8 liters and a power of 106 and 122 hp. respectively.

The second option turned out to be quite dynamic, especially in combination with mechanics. By the way, both engines are equipped with two transmissions to choose from - classic mechanics and a robotic automatic.

Previously, West sedans were equipped with French mechanics, but then they decided to abandon them in favor of domestic development. The engines do not suffer from a lack of traction, which is sufficient throughout almost the entire rev range.

True, the 1.8-liter engine will still be more powerful. Otherwise, everything turned out soft and at the same time cheerful. There is only one unpleasant moment left - this is the gluttony of the engine, which AvtoVAZ could not moderate. The engine consumes on average 10 liters per 100 km.

AVTOVAZ did not reinvent the wheel and installed the same engines in the station wagon that were in the previous generation. These are modern Russian-made units. An MTOR with a volume of 1.6 is called a VAZ-21129.

The front seats, despite the photo, are quite comfortable; riders of any height and build will be able to fit, given the wide range of adjustments. The only sofa in the back is unsuccessful, although in size it is ready to accommodate three passengers. Discomfort is caused by a sharp collapse of the roof in both the SV and sedan versions. The luggage compartment pleases not only with its correct geometric shapes, but also with its huge volume by the standards of the segment.

The cathophoresis procedure is carried out in a galvanic bath. The car body is placed in the primer solution. In the primer solution, under the influence of the positive pole, positive phosphate ions are formed. Due to ionic attraction, adhesion of anions and cations occurs.

Paint quality: which is better, galvanization or cathophoresis, and what is the guarantee?

In fact, the very appointment of Bu Inge Anderson as the head of our auto giant during a difficult time for AvtoVAZ was associated with improving the quality of its products. The further course of events showed that fundamental improvements had taken place, starting from the design and interior equipment of the cabin and ending with the build quality of the car, which were most fully manifested in the Vesta model.

And the current 6-year warranty on painting is not so much a marketing ploy, but the fact that the eternal domestic problem of protection against corrosion and poor quality of body coating has been overcome. If the first problem in the West is solved by galvanizing bodies, dipping them into molten zinc, then AvtoVAZ decided to go its own way and is trying to protect the body with a cathophoresis primer.

Of course, 6 warranty years is not 15, like Swedish ones, or 20 years, like some German cars, but this is good by our standards, or, as they say, it’s nothing more than the beginning. However, cathophoresis is actually cooler than banal galvanizing, since it is an electrochemical process of attaching a substance to the metal that performs protective functions.

As for the body painting, on Vesta it occurs immediately after the cathophoresis primer and its stages are as follows:

1. The first stage begins with applying mastic to all surfaces that are mating with each other and that have seams;
2. Then comes the stage of spraying mastic - anti-noise;
3. A primer is applied to the body, which has only two color characteristics - light or dark, depending on the future tone of the body color.
4. After these procedures, the body enters special painting chambers, where the paint coating is sprayed;
5. Then comes varnishing, and Vesta’s bodies go into drying chambers for heat treatment of the coating;
6. But that’s not all, since then come the final touches of polishing and treating the cavities that are in the bodies with special anti-corrosion compounds.

Design plans for the future

According to management statements, the concern is not going to stop there. Following the latest modifications, it is planned to release an off-road station wagon with all-wheel drive and a 4x4 wheel arrangement. It is believed that the appearance of the model will change, and its body will acquire unique touches.

Currently, the most expensive Exclusive package is available only for the sedan body type. However, soon it is planned to launch civilian and off-road station wagons in the Exclusive configuration on the market. The exterior of such cars is also subject to changes.

The same can be said about methane modification. Only the sedan is currently available in showrooms. But the latest news suggests that the appearance of station wagons with a bi-fuel methane engine is not far off. Their design will also differ from the usual design. So AvtoVAZ designers still have plenty of work to do.
