The flip key for the Priora does not come from the factory - so you take a standard microcircuit and screw it into a new case: here you have a flip key. Such cases are usually sold on Aliexpress. You don't even need to re-program!
If the key is lost, then: it turns out that you can train any key for a Lada Priora car so that it is “recognized” by the immobilizer. Learning is as simple as pressing a couple of buttons.
When you buy a car, you are given keys to a Lada Priora with a diagram and three buttons and a regular mechanical one.
Making changes to your car for comfort is like an integral part of owning a car. The Lada Priora offers real scope for creativity, and many owners strive to make their “swallow” different from other cars. One of these conveniences - which, as a rule, does not come from the factory - is a flip key for the Lada Priora.
The standard ignition key is “learned” from the dealer or car service center, and the car owner most likely does not do this on his own. Because of this, learning the flip key for the Lada Priora can be difficult. With the necessary amount of patience, dexterity and dexterity, this procedure will become extremely clear, you just need to follow the instructions as clearly as possible.
Regular key with buttons
The standard device that is sold with the car is the usual, “basic”, simple version. Inside the case there is a board that includes a control panel for some vehicle systems. In Priora, the key is not just a tool for manually opening doors, it is a pocket device that simplifies the operation of the car.
The remote control control board is attached to the key blade, which is inserted into the ignition switch. The design of this tool is a little flimsy, so due to the swing of the blade, the remote control board suffers and does not respond to button presses the first time.
A standard unit, like any other, operates via a radio channel and a transponder channel. The first sends commands to the driver's door module and the electrical package control module, which is located behind the center console. The second channel transmits signals with the immobilizer control unit APS-4 or APS-6.
Why do you need a duplicate?
Having only one key, a car owner can face big troubles in a variety of situations:
- the key may be lost or stolen;
- the transponder can be forgotten somewhere;
- you can accidentally leave it in the cabin and slam the door.
Of course, these are only the most common situations, but they are all very unpleasant, and you won’t be able to get inside the car, let alone drive. If the transponder is inside, it can be done by breaking the locks or breaking the glass, but if it is lost, you will have to make a duplicate, and a complete analogue of not only the key, but also the chip.
Purpose - why to teach
Each car comes with two keys from the factory: one training key and one regular key without schematics. The device containing the microcircuit is trained to recognize the car and is installed as an immobilizer driver. After which an anti-theft alarm is installed. After this tricky procedure, they are both able to:
- Control door locks and trunk lid from a distance;
- Manage alarms;
- Manipulate power windows;
- “Contact” the immobilizer and unlock the engine control.
And this can be taught to a new key! But the “memory” of the control unit can simultaneously record two devices, so when programming a new tool on the Lada Priora, you will have to delete the old ones from the ECU memory.
An important detail: even if the original Lada Priora key from the dealer has long been lost, the ECU can still be taught a new one if there is a training tool.
Even if it could not be found, you will have to replace the electronic control unit, the APS unit, and the ignition switch (including the cylinders). It is highly not recommended to carry a training copy with you: even if it saves you if the working key malfunctions, its loss will cause a lot of money.
Underwater rocks
I don’t see anything wrong with wanting to make an original key. If you like it, then go for it. The only question is how comfortable it will be for you to use the miscarriage, and whether you will be able to do everything with your own hands to the highest possible quality.
A fairly large number of workshops in Ukraine and Russia undertake the production of such keys. Only Moscow and St. Petersburg are ready to offer several dozen specialists. Also access service in Yekaterinburg, Volgograd, Ryazan and many other cities.
The main customers are the owners of the following cars:
- Priora;
- Grant;
- Kalina;
- VAZ 2110;
- VAZ 2111;
- VAZ 2112;
- VAZ 2109;
- Renault Logan;
- UAZ line, etc.
If a car manufacturer doesn't initially offer a flip key, then owners want to change this injustice. In addition, the price is low enough to deny yourself the pleasure of making a switch type key.
This does not provide any significant benefit to the car. It is important to understand that you are doing this for your own convenience and comfort.
Again, if you make mistakes, choose bad components or do the job crookedly, you will have to deal with the consequences yourself.
I repeat. Think carefully about the feasibility of such a decision. If you are ready to take this step, proceed. But keep in mind the important points.
- To replace a regular key with a flip key, you need to purchase a blank. You can buy them through Aliexpress and other online stores. You buy a case with a blank for the tip, which will need to be machined according to the design of your original key. The problem is the low quality of the workpieces, which can result in quick breakdowns, disruptions in the operation of the mechanism, etc.;
- Don't forget about possible key errors. If the car has an immobilizer, simply sharpening the blank will not be enough. You will need to remove the chip from the original key and move it into a new case;
- In some keys, the immobilizer chip is extremely fragile. Plus, it cannot always be easily removed without destroying the old key itself;
- The chip may become damaged, causing the immobilizer to stop functioning.
There is always a potential danger to the car. How to do it right? I recommend entrusting the production to specialists. Moreover, to proven and reliable craftsmen, whose qualifications you have no doubt about.
Training procedure
From the moment the engineer made the key for the Lada Priora, the demand for ECU reprogramming has increased significantly. You need to prepare for reprogramming the ECU and not do it chaotically: the sequence of steps must be completed without long breaks.
You can train keys by following the following procedure:
Close all doors. Make sure that the sensors on the control panel do not accidentally light up and interfere with the process: add several liters of fuel to the tank, remove faults, etc. Sound signals can confuse you. The vehicle's ignition must initially be turned off. For convenience, place the training copy in your right hand, and the first worker, who will be assigned a code in the ECU, in your left hand. Turn on the ignition with the training key (it is smaller and marked with a red plastic insert), wait at least 6 seconds.
Attention! In the entire algorithm, you never need to start the engine, that is, you do not need to turn the key all the way: you only need to turn on the ignition.
Turn off the ignition by turning the key towards you. After this, the yellow car icon will flash (very quickly) on the dashboard. This means that the ECU has authorized and started the key learning mode; it should flash until all actions are completed as a sign that everything is being done correctly. Remove the training tool from the ignition lock cylinder, quickly insert the first working key within the next 6 seconds and just turn on the ignition. A triple beep will sound (not a horn). After a few seconds, two more beeps will sound - this means the code has been successfully written: you can turn off the ignition! If there were no two beeps, it means something went wrong and you need to repeat it all over again. The last steps are to confirm the recording of the code for the new control panel. After the double signal, you can remove the working key, but then you quickly need to insert a small, training key. Turn on the ignition, then again wait for three or two beeps. Turn off the ignition, but do not remove the key! After a single beep, the yellow vehicle icon on the dashboard will flash even faster. Turn the ignition on then turn off after three seconds. Three more beeps will sound. Do not turn on the ignition for another 10-20 seconds. It's not always possible to get everything done the first time. For some Lada Priora cars, the sound signal may disappear - it is worth trying to continue the algorithm if the yellow car icon is still blinking. Training of the second instrument is carried out in the same sequence.
general information
The main task of the immobilizer is to prevent possible unauthorized attempts to start the engine. Typically, Ladas (in particular Prioras, Kalinas and Grants) are equipped with standard APS-6 anti-theft devices. On Luxury vehicles, standard immobilizers are activated by the manufacturer before the car goes on sale, but on vehicles of other configurations this must be done independently. Below we will provide instructions for learning the key and activating the immobilizer, and now we will take a closer look at its kit.
The kit consists of two working keys (black) and one master key (red), its task is to train the system. Using the control lamp, signals are sent about the current state of the programming process, and if it starts flashing quickly (five times within a second), then the learning process is proceeding correctly.
Stopping blinking is a sign of incorrect actions or breakdown. It may also indicate that the allotted time for training has been exceeded or that the key used was trained by another immobilizer.
The process of activating the standard immobilizer
Activating the immobilizer requires the following actions:
- The doors are closed, the ignition is turned on with the red key and they wait for six seconds;
- The key is pulled out, and the car icon on the panel begins to blink rapidly (five times per second);
- Then, as quickly as possible (after a maximum of five seconds), the ignition is turned on with the black key;
- Normally, three and then two squeaks will be heard, after which the ignition is turned off and the key is removed;
- No later than five seconds later, the ignition is turned on with the red key;
- When you hear three and then two squeaks, the ignition turns off, but the key is not removed from the lock;
- After one squeak, the ignition is turned on again (again spending no more than five seconds on this) for two, maximum three seconds;
- Then the ignition is turned off, but the key is not removed;
- There are three beeps, the machine goes out, but you don’t need to remove the key right away; you need to take it out after ten seconds;
- Check the activation of the immobilizer by turning on the ignition with any of the keys. Successful activation of the device will be indicated by a non-lit machine icon.
Crib:
- The doors are closed and the ignition is turned on for six seconds with a red key, which is then removed from the lock;
- Next, the ignition is turned on with the black key, after three, and then two squeaks, the key is removed;
- Turn the ignition back on using the red key, after three and then two squeaks, turn it off and hear another squeak;
- The ignition is turned on for a few moments, after which it is immediately turned off; In the future, the ignition should not be turned on for at least ten seconds.
When performing subsequent code synchronization, turn on the ignition with a black key, then wait about six seconds. A warning light flashing once a second will indicate an error, then turn off the ignition and wait ten seconds. Then it is turned on again, the motor starts, and the lamp stops flashing. If it lights up three seconds after turning on the ignition and continues to burn, this will indicate that the anti-theft function is not working, and therefore the key learning process will need to be repeated.
Battery replacement process
Many Lada cars (for example, Priors, Kalinas, Vestas, Grants, etc.) use ignition keys with a factory alarm, controlled by a remote control using a central lock. And if such keys stop functioning normally, then you need to immediately change the battery.
You can calculate whether the battery is really dead like this. In Largus, Vesta and XRAY, a dead battery will affect both the clarity of operation and the operating range of the remote control unit; these indicators will significantly decrease. On Kalinas, Grants and Priors, a faulty battery will indicate itself through two short-term flashes on the indicator when you press one of the remote control keys. In addition, a complete absence of flashes will be a signal for the need to replace the battery.
First of all, you will need to disassemble the key; to carry out this manipulation you must:
- On Vesta and XRAY, the case opens quite simply, but first you will have to unclip the latches located along its perimeter using a slotted screwdriver;
- On Lada Largus, Grants, Priors and Kalinas, you need to remove the mounting screw using a Phillips screwdriver, then open the case by snapping the latches in the manner described above.
Inside the case you will see a battery shaped like a tablet; to remove it you will need to slightly pry the battery with a screwdriver. After installing a new battery, the case is closed using the same steps as opening it, performed in reverse order. It is better to close the case from the top, this will greatly simplify the process.
Replacing the battery of the Lada Priora remote control
The moment when the battery in the remote control needs to be replaced is determined by the fact that when you press any button (for example, when turning an alarm on/off), the indicator on the remote control flashes twice; If it doesn’t even blink, it means the battery has become unusable. During normal operation, the indicator should light up once.
The control panel contains a lithium battery (CR2032) in the flip key fob, the voltage is 3 V. To remove it, you need to open the case (the cover is secured with one screw) and carefully remove the board. Place a new battery taking into account the polarity; install the board back and reassemble the case. The electrical package will work in the same mode, the key fob code does not change.
Is there a need for a category for a passenger trailer? Let’s take a closer look
Again, I strongly do not recommend teaching the key yourself. This requires experience and certain knowledge. Plus, the master key that comes with the car will definitely come in handy.
The essence of the training is to distribute roles between all buttons. Otherwise, your new key fob simply will not work. You start pressing the buttons, but there is no response.
As a result, it is easy to lock yourself inside the car, or not open the doors, not turn on the protection, etc. Therefore, it is better to contact authorized centers or service stations that have the appropriate approvals and permits to carry out such work. Key training is carried out strictly in the presence of the owner. The service is paid, but it is not that expensive.
Some craftsmen do everything themselves. Some even record a training video. I have nothing against it, but then you take full responsibility for the possible consequences of incorrect programming. Decide for yourself whether to take risks, or simply entrust this matter to competent specialists.
Resynchronization of remote control codes
The ECU transmits data to the Lada Priora remote control via a radio channel and a transponder channel. Problems arise with the radio channel: if you press buttons (send a car signal) outside its coverage area, then after 1000 presses the code is resynchronized: while sending a command in the radio signal area, the electrical package will not perceive the remote control code.
Also, a code error may occur if the battery is discharged: in this case, the ECU will briefly generate a random code that will erase the codes of all remote control chips. In these cases, you will have to enter the remote control data into the electronic control unit again.
A flip key for Lada Priora is, first of all, beautiful. It is pleasant to the touch; all remote control buttons are located on the body. Its undeniable advantage is that it will not damage the fabric during storage, because its blade will be hidden. The blade is attached to it more securely, and it will not loosen the remote control chip.
Where to make a chip key for a car
Just a few years ago, to get a duplicate you had to contact an official dealer and place an order. Then we had to wait a long time for it to be manufactured and delivered at the factory. It costs a lot and takes a long time, and all this time the car is forced to stand idle.
Now you can make a duplicate in the city at a service station, and quite quickly. Where car keys are made, you can usually order a copy of the chip key. It is very difficult to do this on your own, as special equipment is required. And if the metal part of the key can still be made after several attempts, then it will be difficult to program the chip correctly. After all, you also need to read the information from the original or from the dashboard.
Of course, everything is simplified if you have the original key and you just need to make another copy. But it is much more difficult if it was lost. Accordingly, the cost may vary.
How much does the service cost?
There are many specialized workshops where they make new car keys. Prices are different everywhere, depending on both the city and the car model. For example, for Moscow the cost of work is approximately the following:
- restoration of keys in case of complete loss – from 5,000 rubles;
- cutting a new blade (if, for example, it breaks) - 700 - 1200 rubles;
- production of a key for the ignition switch - from 3,000 rubles;
- chip programming – from 2000 rubles.
Prices may be slightly different in other regions. If you bring the original to a specialized workshop that has all the equipment, cloning it will take literally 15 minutes. If there is no original, then you need to deliver the car there or call a specialist to extract the necessary information.
Manufacturing instructions
The car owner himself can take some steps if the original key has been lost:
- You need to remove the ignition switch from the car in order to make a new key using it. But manufacturers have specifically complicated this task for security against hijackers. Therefore, you may have to turn to the experts. Then you need to remove the secret part from the lock, and this is also difficult to do without help.
- The secret part should be taken to a place where they make keys, preferably car keys. There, based on the location and design of the teeth, they will be able to cut a new blade, the same as an old car key.
Then comes the stage of working with the chip.
Programming Features
It is impossible to give any specific advice on programming transponders. Each car model has differences in both software and safety systems, not to mention the design. Therefore, the keys can differ greatly even between different models of the same manufacturer, and even more so between different ones.
In the most general case, programming a new chip occurs after reading information from the original or from the dashboard. This requires special programs and equipment. Therefore, this is done by specialists who have experience working with different car models.
Therefore, it would seem that such a simple operation - making a second key for the car - today requires turning to specialists. You can't do this on your own.
