It happens that after installation the EUR does not work at all or intermittently.

- Speed sensor failure. The electric power steering operates in connection with the speed sensor. At high speeds, the extra force from the mechanism is reduced to provide you with greater control. If the sensor data stops flowing, the power steering will automatically turn off. The problem is solved by replacing the sensor.
- Incorrectly installed engine crankcase. If there is a violation in the installation of the engine crankcase (casing), vibrations from the motor will be transmitted to the amplifier. It will begin to hum, and in some cases even turn off.

If the cover has lost elasticity, cracked or torn, it must be replaced.
We check the operation of the steering column adjustment mechanism. When the adjustment lever is lowered, the steering column should move up and down smoothly, without jerking or jamming, and when the lever is raised, it should be securely locked in the set position.
To check the electric power steering on a stationary vehicle, turn the steered wheels 1-2 times to their extreme positions with the engine not running and then with the engine running.
By comparing the forces applied to the steering wheel in both cases, we can draw a conclusion about the operability of the electric booster (a working electric booster when the engine is running significantly reduces the force applied to the steering wheel). Spontaneous rotation of the steering wheel by the electric power steering from the neutral position while the engine is running is not allowed.

Electric power steering reduces steering effort, making driving easier. The basis of the electric booster is a brushless electric motor with a gearbox located under the steering wheel housing. A worm is installed on the engine shaft, which engages with a plastic gear mounted on the steering shaft.
The operation of the electric amplifier is coordinated by an electronic control unit by changing the supply voltage to the electric motor based on information received from vehicle speed sensors, crankshaft speed and the amount of torque on the steering shaft. The electric motor turns the steering column shaft through a gearbox with a certain torque.
The control unit provides sufficient information content of the steering wheel in all modes of vehicle movement. In the instrument cluster there is a fault indicator for the electric power steering. It lights up when the ignition is turned on and goes out after the engine starts. If the electric booster fails, the indicator lights up constantly. The electric booster does not work when the engine is not running.
The electric booster can be turned off:
— when the voltage of the on-board network decreases;
— in the absence of a signal from the speed sensor and the engine speed is above 1500 min 1
Such shutdowns are inherent in the operating algorithm of the electric amplifier and are not signs of a malfunction.
Removal
You will need: a screwdriver with a Phillips blade, keys “8”, “13” (two), socket wrench “13”.
1. Disconnect the wire from the negative terminal of the battery.
2. Remove the steering wheel.
3. Pull towards you and remove the fuse box cover.

Most cars today are equipped with a cabin air filter. Lada Granta cars have such a filter as standard. Its task is to filter the air entering the cabin from outside. Steering rack adjustment
The unit knocks for various reasons. In fact, this is a real disease of the control mechanism, inherited from the Lada Kalina, since the components are identical on these cars. You can adjust the rack yourself.
To do this you will need a minimum of tools:
- steering rack calibration key;
- socket heads for 10 and 13;
- shaped screwdriver.
To tighten the slats, you can use two methods. The first involves using a special key that can be inserted into the gap of the arch on the left side. The second method is more labor-intensive and is suitable if it is not possible to stick your hand into the gap. To do this, you will need to dismantle the battery and its platform; this is the only way to get to the nut for tightening the gearbox. The first method is simple, so it’s better to consider the second option.
To do this, you need to disconnect the battery terminals and remove it, and then remove the platform under it. Now you can get to the nut located on the inside of the gearbox housing. You can buy a combination wrench for tightening, on the one hand - for tightening the rack, on the other - for tensioning the timing belt.
To tighten the nut, turn it clockwise.
