Marking features
For a standard battery installed from the factory on the VAZ 2110–2112 family of vehicles, the marking 6ST-55A is used.
It means that the battery has 6 cans (sections). This is a maintenance-free battery with a capacity of 55 Ah. Although the starting current is not encrypted here, it is only 255 A.
Although the power supply is considered maintenance free, the battery can actually be considered low maintenance. The top cover of the housing is provided with technological holes that are closed with special plugs. They need to be unscrewed to check the electrolyte level, its density, and, if necessary, add the missing amount of distilled water.
During charging, if the battery has covers, they must be removed or partially unscrewed. This will allow any accumulated gas to escape.
If you do not unscrew the plugs, there is a possibility that during recharging, excess gas will begin to break out, breaking the seal of the case, and can literally tear it apart. Initially, only microcracks form. But gradually the problem can get significantly worse.
