Here you will find a connector that connects the wires leading to the switch. The blue and red cables must be connected directly. Simply unplug the block and insert a jumper (such as tweezers) into the corresponding terminals.

Next, get out of the cabin and see if the turn signal is working properly. If yes, then you will have to change the switch; failures in it are usually purely mechanical and it is unrealistic to eliminate them - the design does not provide for it. When nothing happens, look further.

In general, there are only two versions left to explain why the turn signal does not work:

  • break in the wiring;
  • hazard warning button failure.

To check the cables, you need to remove the negative terminal from the battery. Next, starting from the switch, all the veins are inspected (and simultaneously tested with a multimeter). Insulation damage and breaks are repaired. It is advisable to replace unusable sections with a new intact wire, since otherwise the risk of repeated failure cannot be completely eliminated.

When the VAZ turn signal does not work and all previous actions have not corrected the situation, then all that remains is to deal with the emergency signal button. This reason is more likely the older the car. There are known situations where contacts simply fell out of the control device over time if the car moved at a sufficiently high speed over potholes.

Initially, you need to check the fuse and relay, do not forget about the emergency lane button. It would be a good idea to check the functionality of the steering column switches. Overall, look for a break in these places.

I checked if everything was okay. As far as I know, the fuse for the emergency lane and turn signals is different. If one of them had burned out, I would have noticed immediately. Because if the turn signal fuse blows, the dash will most likely go out too!!

Features of the scheme

The electrical circuit of the VAZ-2110 turn signals includes:

  • lantern bulbs, six in total;
  • two indicators installed on the dashboard;
  • emergency button;
  • Understeering's shifter;
  • power supply;
  • circuit breakers;
  • interrupt relay.

The last two elements, responsible for the turn signal, are located nearby - in the mounting block. This unit is installed in the cabin, to the left of the steering wheel. It is closed by a decorative flap, to access which you just need to press the latch located above.

The emergency lights operate in parallel with the turn signals. Their wires are connected by the terminals of one block. It is from this that the veins go to the button that switches the general lighting devices to a mode signaling a breakdown that has occurred on the road. When an element burns out, the integrity of the jumper is not always compromised. It wouldn't hurt to check with a multimeter. The probe is applied to the fuse, the device is turned on, and if it shows resistance other than 0 Ohm, then the element is broken.

Turn signals on VAZ 2107 do not work: replacing the relay

A relay malfunction can be understood by the following symptoms:

  • Flickers too slow or too fast
  • Turn signals are on but not flashing properly
  • Turn signals and alarm do not work at all (your case)

I recommend that you replace this particular mechanism, it is inexpensive, and the job is done in literally 20-30 minutes. Provide access to the mounting block, find the relay there, it looks like this:

Then pry it up and tighten it using the tools you have. Unscrew the ground from the switch and replace the old relay with a new mechanism and connect all the wires that go to it. Then assemble all previously disassembled elements in reverse order. As you can see, nothing complicated. The main thing in all work is to correctly connect the output to “plus” and “minus”. How to replace the steering switch on a VAZ 2113-VAZ 2115?

Note! Both switches are replaced absolutely identically, so we did not write instructions for replacing both switches, but wrote instructions only for replacing one of the most frequently broken ones, the turn switch!

Removal: 1) At the very beginning of the operation, remove the upper and lower casing from the steering column. (For information on how to remove the upper and lower casing, read the article entitled: “Replacing the steering column casing on a VAZ”)

2) Then, when the casing is removed, look for two plastic latches at the top and bottom thanks to which this switch is held in the saddle, so to speak (For more details about where these latches are located, see the bottom in the section: “For beginners!” they there are indicated by arrows in the photo), and when you find these latches, carefully take them by the bottom with your hand and press them to the side towards the very base of the switch and thereby simply pull it gently and it will come out.

3) When this switch comes out of the saddle, on the back side of it (you will immediately see) a large block with wires will be connected, so carefully disconnect this block from the switch by pulling it, thereby it will come out.

Note! This block can also be disconnected right at the moment when the switch is not yet removed from the saddle (This example is shown in the photo and on the video clip located just below), but this is just not very convenient, and even if the block gets caught on anything be it, or if you lower it down ahead of time, you can bend the leads on the old switch, well, still see for yourself, because not all people need this article specifically for replacement, there will be those who just need to remove the switch to access the steering units control!

Installation: The new switch is installed in its place in the reverse order of removal.

Initially, a thermal relay was installed on VAZ cars, in which the contacts were closed (opened) by a nichrome string, which was heated and cooled due to the current flowing through it. In later models, which include the “seven,” a relay with an electronic circuit and an electromagnet is used. The blinking frequency of the direction indicators is determined by the settings of the electronic circuit. This design has fewer moving parts and contacts, making it more reliable.

The device also works as an alarm relay for the VAZ 2107, causing the lamps to flash when the alarm is triggered.

Malfunctions of turn signals VAZ 2107

The main symptom of a malfunction is non-functioning direction indicators. However, the reason may not be only the relay. There are several distribution options:

  • The lights are flashing too slowly or too quickly. The reason could be either in the electronic part of the speed relay or in the discrepancy between the lamp current consumption and the nominal one. If one of the lamps has burned out or lamps that draw less current have been installed, the coils will flash more often than necessary. The same thing happens if the wire leading to one of the lamps is cut or the lamp socket or base has oxidized. A similar phenomenon occurs when installing LED lamps instead of incandescent lamps. When installing more powerful lamps, the blinking frequency decreases. If all the lamps are in good condition and the malfunction does not appear after replacing the lamps, then the reason lies precisely in the rotation relay or poor contacts in the lamp power circuit.
  • The turn lights are on constantly, they do not blink. This indicates a malfunction of the electromagnetic part of the VAZ 2107 turn signal relay: the contacts are stuck in the closed position and do not open. This may be burning of the contacts of the electromagnetic relay or failure of the electronic circuit of the gear shift relay. Regardless of the specific reason, there is only one way out - replace the VAZ 2107 turn relay.
  • The direction indicators are off. The cause of the malfunction may be a broken turn switch, a blown (faulty) turn relay, an open circuit, or a blown fuse. It is best to start checking with the last one

Breaker relay malfunctions

Malfunctions in the operation of the turn signal or low/high beam relays in the VAZ 2106 are quite rare. These mechanisms are quite reliable, but, being part of the overall electrical circuit of the car, they are not immune to problems such as overvoltage, breakdown, etc. In fact, the products are non-repairable - it is almost impossible to eliminate damage to the coil or contacts qualitatively. In other words, if a defect or malfunction is detected, the mechanisms are simply replaced with similar ones, selecting them by catalog number:

  • for the turn signal relay - 231.3747-10(11) or 23.3747-10(11);
  • for the lighting breaker relay - 113.3747-10(11) or 90.3747-10(11).

The number at the end of the designation indicates the design of the device case: the 10th modification is equipped with a mounting flange, while the 11th version does not have it, which is compensated by the increased dimensions of the case. Also, when choosing electronic relay breakers, you should remember that rotary models are compatible with alarm relay units, and lighting ones are compatible with devices for switching on the fan motor, horn, and rear window defroster. A malfunction of the relay unit may be indicated by problems in the operation of the light bulbs controlled by it due to the impossibility of closing the circuit or, conversely, opening it.

For rotary relays, typical signs of a malfunction may include flashing too fast or too slow, or no clicks. But the rapid blinking of the control light on the dashboard indicates that the lamp in the headlight has burned out, and not the relay itself.
