If you are going to buy winter tires for your Lada Vesta, then try to choose narrower tires. These tires will create more pressure on the road surface and improve traction. Remember that wide tires are more sensitive to ruts in winter. And low-profile tires make the ride less comfortable, because... transfer even the smallest holes to the body.
The smaller the unsprung mass (this includes the mass of tires and wheels), the better the car will hold the road and accelerate faster. For example, if you put wheels on a car that are 2 kg lighter each, then acceleration to 100 km/h will be reduced by 0.2 seconds.
Attention! Installing larger wheels may lead to problems with ABS and ESP calibration (the systems may not work correctly).

Choosing tires for different operating conditions
Winter becomes a real headache for car enthusiasts; some prefer not to use their cars during this period, while others have to buy winter tires. You cannot drive on summer tires in the cold season - their composition is not designed for low temperatures. Braking, starting to move, and driving become impossible.
Choosing winter tires
Large tires can be installed on Vesta, but for winter it is better to install smaller wheels. If R16 is used in summer, then R15 is recommended for winter. The tire width is also selected smaller. In winter, speed characteristics are not so important. Studded tires and so-called “Velcro” tires are available on the market. It is ideal for residents of large cities who rarely go off-road. Spikes are not needed on asphalt roads. For those who often travel on snowy, icy roads, they are definitely necessary.
Tread pattern selection
There are three types of drawing:
Tire tread pattern
- Symmetric. Both sides of the pattern are the same and have a wave or bridge shape. Equally effective on snow and ice. Loses its properties on snow porridge in the spring or after treatment with reagents.
- Directed. It is not afraid of snow, ice, and also does not lose its properties in slush. Not suitable for use on dry asphalt due to increased noise. The peculiarity of these tires is in the direction - they must be mounted strictly according to the direction of travel arrow, which is indicated on the outer side of the product with the inscription “Rotation”.
- Asymmetrical. In addition to all the advantages of the described figures, noise reduction and high speed characteristics are added. It is installed according to marks indicating the inside and outside with inscriptions on the sides - “Inside”/“Outside”. The only drawback is the high price.
To save money, you can use the directional option. If your budget allows, it is better to choose an asymmetrical pattern.
Selection by stud size
A regular thorn looks like a nail - this is the most common type. There are also other shapes - square, rectangle. At the same time, at speeds up to 60 km/h, the braking distance does not change in any way, and there is no point in paying more, because in winter it is unsafe to increase the speed. From popular brands you can choose the following:
- Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 – is in the middle price range, the estimated cost is from 4 to 5 thousand rubles;
- Bridgestone Blizzak Spike-01 – from 3 thousand rubles;
- Yokohama Ice Guard F700Z – average price – 2 thousand rubles;
- Dunlop Ice Touch – average price – 2.7 thousand rubles;
- Michelin X-Ice North 3 – 3-3.5 thousand rubles;
- “Kama Euro” 519 and “Belshina” Bel-127 - up to 2 thousand rubles.
The choice is large, for high quality and brand you will have to pay a substantial amount. If your budget is limited, you can purchase domestically produced winter tires. They are cheaper, but this does not mean that their quality and efficiency are worse.
Choosing summer tires
Summer tires for cars are made from hard compounds, which is determined by temperature and speed operating conditions. These tires wear out more slowly and do not lose grip on hot asphalt. These wheels have a different tread pattern and depth from winter ones.
Tire size
Choose a size that matches the manufacturer's requirements. It is possible to use alternative options, but in this regard different points should be taken into account:
- If the outer diameter of the wheel turns out to be larger than the manufacturer allows, it will cling to the arch when driving over uneven surfaces and when turning.
- When installing tires with a large width, there will also be friction along the arches, which is unsafe and leads to rapid wear of the rubber.
- Installing tires with a low profile will make the suspension too stiff, which will lead to failure of the chassis components. But low-profile tires increase steering sensitivity, allowing you to better control the car when driving at high speeds. This is not the best option for driving on domestic roads.
- An excessively high profile reduces control efficiency; at high speed, there is a high risk of losing the tire from the rim, which will lead to an accident. Properly selected high-profile tires improve the smoothness of movement, easily absorb all potholes and bumps, and are able to preserve the life of the suspension.
Summer tires on the Lada Vesta should be wider (within reasonable limits), this increases the contact patch with the road surface and improves dynamic characteristics. But this will lead to increased fuel consumption and the risk of aquaplaning even at low speeds when driving through puddles. Based on this, we can conclude that when choosing the type of tires, many factors need to be taken into account. In most cases, it is advisable to stick to the size recommended by the manufacturer. For the average car driver in city mode, this is enough.
Tread selection
According to the type of pattern, there are symmetrical, asymmetrical and directional protectors. An inexpensive option is a standard tire with a non-directional pattern. It has average characteristics of controllability, comfort and aquaplaning prevention. In terms of price-quality ratio, it will be the best option for leisurely trips. If necessary, the tires can be placed on different sides.
Rubber with a directional pattern has better handling, comfort and prevents aquaplaning. One of the advantages of this pattern is the quick removal of water from the tread. They are installed in accordance with the direction of travel, so they cannot be mounted differently when rearranging the wheels between the right and left sides. Otherwise, control safety is sharply reduced.
Rubber with an asymmetric tread pattern is a universal option with equally good handling and comfort on various road surfaces. The outer part consists of larger and more rigid blocks, which improve cornering control. The tread pattern on the inside consists of smaller blocks and drains water more efficiently, increasing traction on wet asphalt. To ensure directional stability, there is a longitudinal stiffener rib in the middle. Such wheels can be moved from one side to the other. The only drawback is the high price compared to directional and non-directional tires.
Popular brands of summer tires for Lada Vesta include:
- TRIANGLE GROUP TR928 – cost does not exceed 2.5 thousand rubles;
- NOKIAN NORDMAN SX2 – from 3 thousand rubles;
- MICHELIN ENERGY XM2 – from 3.5 thousand rubles;
- YOKOHAMA GEOLANDAR SUV G055 – from 7 thousand rubles;
- HANKOOK VENTUS V12 EVO2 K12 – from 8 thousand rubles.
The most affordable option is Kama Euro and Belshina tires, the cost of which usually does not exceed 2 thousand rubles per tire.
Selection of all-season tires
The constant rise in prices for cars and related products forces car owners to look for ways to save money. One of its options is to buy universal tires. This type of tire is only suitable for countries where the climate is mild all year round. “All-season” vehicles are not suitable for the harsh winter months of the middle zone. When the temperature drops to 7 degrees, the elasticity of rubber with the “allseasons” index decreases, the braking distance increases and the risk of losing control increases. An all-season tire is a middle option between summer and winter, so you shouldn’t expect high performance from it.
“All-season tires” have a less frequent tread pattern compared to winter tires and are of medium softness. The side part has rounded shapes, dissected sipes, and a tread with deep recesses. For summer they show good grip qualities, but for snow and ice they are useless. You can identify such tires by the inscription “All Seasons”. It has no practical meaning - driving is allowed at temperatures not lower than -5 degrees. At lower temperatures the tire becomes too hard.
The advantage is that you don’t need to buy a set of winter and summer tires, which saves money. The issue of storing one of the sets is resolved, since the tires are always on the car. With the right choice, such tires can cope with snow (provided there is a mild winter).
“All-season” models have significantly more disadvantages. Use on ice and deep snow is ineffective and unsafe. At low temperatures, tires become tanned in the same way as summer tires, losing their grip and can cause an accident. Year-round use results in faster wear.
“All-season tires” cannot withstand high temperatures, become too soft, wear out faster and reduce control efficiency.
When buying such tires you need to adhere to some rules:
- Choose brands. There is no point in giving preference to domestic manufacturers because of lower prices. The quality in most cases corresponds to the price.
- Tread quality. Manufacturers produce tires for primary use in both summer and winter. The latter are more suitable for driving outside the city, as they do a good job of removing dirt and water. There is also a third type - mud tires. It has excellent traction and high cross-country ability, but when driving on asphalt they create a lot of noise at high speed.
When choosing, pay attention to the indices indicated on the bus. They must comply with the vehicle manufacturer's requirements. On the modern market there are several options that are most suitable for operation on the Lada Vesta:
- Pirelli Scorpion Verde Allseasons - average price about 10 thousand rubles;
- Yokohama Y534 – up to 8 thousand rubles;
- Cordiant off road – up to 5 thousand rubles.
For obvious reasons, domestic manufacturers were not included in this list.

AVTOVAZ response:
According to the information given in the vehicle's Operation Manual, the composition of the vehicle and its configuration are constantly updated; you can use all current standard sizes.
Standard wheels
Many car enthusiasts are not interested in standard wheels, so they look for alternative brands. But you need to understand what kind of wheels can be installed on a car, and whether the car will gain several advantages from this. Installing wheels with other sizes is a popular phenomenon. Some are sure that this is how they tune the car, others are trying to optimize its performance. Let's consider the main positive and negative aspects of such a decision.
The easiest way to change the characteristics of wheels is to replace the tires with new ones from a different manufacturer. But you need to choose tires with a similar tread pattern, similar properties and the same degree of wear. A common change in the characteristics of the entire wheel is to increase the width of the rim. This changes the appearance of the car and its properties. The car's maneuverability, stability, and dynamics become different. Sometimes the changes are negative.
When looking at the wheels, remember that when increasing the diameter, it is better to reduce the height of the tire. Otherwise, when turning, the tire may touch something from the wheel arch, which is not designed for these changes. The following tires are acceptable for Vesta, depending on the diameter: - 175/70 R15; — 205/60 R15; — 185/60 R16; — 175/55 R17; — 195/50 R17.
- The positive aspects of installing larger wheels and low-profile tires are as follows:
- improving the appearance of the car;
- increasing stability, dynamics, control sensitivity;
- effective pothole suppression;
- reduction of braking distance;
- increasing suspension service life;
- increasing the efficiency of ABS and ESP.
- the ride becomes uncomfortable;
- It is not recommended to drive on bad roads;
- it is necessary to carefully monitor tire pressure;
- due to higher kinetic energy at the start, more fuel is consumed;
- This kit is more expensive.
In addition to the standard wheels listed above, you can install tires of non-standard diameter on your Lada Vesta. When choosing such solutions, you should definitely adhere to a number of recommendations:
- when using rubber with a diameter of 15 inches, the tire composition must have increased strength - since the car will have greater inertia when cornering;
- for aggressive, fast driving - wheels with a diameter of 17 inches are best suited;
- Summer tires are best equipped with wheels with a diameter of 16 inches - such wheels can be equipped with tires with a sole width of 185 to 195 mm and a profile height of 55-60 mm.
Before installing and starting to use tires of non-standard sizes, the driver should “try on” them. Often, when the wheel width or profile height increases, the tread begins to touch the plastic fender liner. As a result, the fender liner itself may be broken, and the protector begins to quickly wear down on the plastic surface.
The list of the main characteristics of the car also includes the tire size, since this parameter is not only an element of the exterior, but also a factor influencing the handling, dynamics and cross-country ability of the car. Let's consider the size of the wheels of the Lada Vesta sedan, which is increasingly found on the roads.
A car wheel consists of a disk and a tire, which have individual characteristics.
The AvtoVAZ concern indicates the standard tire size for the Lada Vesta car in the basic configuration - 185/65/R15 88 N (the manufacturer allows the use of T). It means:
- width – 185 mm;
- profile – 65% of 185 mm (120.25 mm);
- The tire must be mounted on a rim with a diameter of 15 inches;
- 88 – load capacity index 560 kg;
- H – speed index, up to 210 km/h (for T – up to 190 km/h).
Such tires under the name ArtMotion for AvtoVAZ are manufactured at Belshina OJSC; the products are characterized by moderate softness and good rubber wear resistance, low noise and excellent road holding. Belshina OJSC also produces tires with identical characteristics in a winter version - the ArtMotion Snow model.
In the basic configurations of the Lada Vesta, these tires are mounted on stamped steel rims of size 6J 15 ET 50 4x100 60.1 (as an option - light alloy models of the same dimensions ANNA-15 from the manufacturer K{amp}amp;K), which means:
- 6J – disk rim width (6 inches);
- 15 – mounting diameter in inches;
- ET 50 – offset 50 mm;
- 4x100 (PCD, bolt pattern) – the disk is secured with 4 bolts located around a circle with a diameter of 100 mm;
- 60.1(DIA) – size of the central (hub) hole.
For top-end configurations of Lada Vesta, the factory installs wheels with dimensions 195/55 R16 91 N (T allowed):
- width – 195 mm;
- profile height – 107.25 mm (55% of 195);
- R16 (mounting diameter of the disk) – 16 inches;
- 91 (load capacity index) – 615 kg;
- H (speed index) - up to 210 km/h (T is allowed - up to 190 km/h).
These EcoContact tires are supplied to AvtoVAZ by the German company Continental. They are mounted on light alloy wheels of the K{amp}amp;K company, model Ptalomey-16, size 6Jx16 ET50 4x100 60.1, the geometric characteristics of which differ only in the mounting diameter - 16 inches.
For basic versions of Lada Vesta, installation of wheels of these dimensions on K{amp}amp;K alloy wheels is also possible as an additional option.
In the Luxe configuration of the Lada Vesta, for an additional fee, it is possible to install wheels even with 17-inch rims of the same model - Ptalomey-17.
For clarity, let’s summarize the correspondence between the sizes of tires and wheels of the Lada Vesta in a table.
Installing wheels of a different size on a car is not a rare situation, and the reasons for this can be different - from restoring the car after an accident to tuning. Let's consider common acceptable options for installing non-standard size wheels on a Lada Vesta, the pros and cons of this procedure, as well as errors that can lead to deterioration of the vehicle's performance and even premature failure of some components.
The situation when a car enthusiast decides to “change” his car to new tires of the standard size, but manufactured by another manufacturer, without replacing the wheels, does not require any special comments. However, there are rules here: all tires must have the same tread profile or the same degree of wear (differences in the tread profile of pairs of tires on the front and rear axles are allowed).
What wheels can be put on the vest?
What wheels does the automaker propose to install on the Lada Vesta? AvtoVAZ does not recommend changing the tire size or offset, suggesting that only wheels with increased or reduced width be used.
Wheels with a diameter of 15 inches can be installed in widths from 5 to 6.5 inches (remember, the base has 6 inches). And wheels with a diameter of 16 inches can be from 5.5 to 6.5 inches wide (the base is 6.5 inches). The same applies to 17-inch wheels on the Vesta Cross or wheels on the sports Vesta - if you wish, you can install narrower wheels, 5.5 and 6 inches wide, without violating the requirements and warranty policy of the automaker.
As for tires, AvtoVAZ allows the use of tires with other speed and load capacity indices. Standard 185/65R15 88H tires can be replaced with tires with load capacity index T. And 16-inch tires 195/55R16 91H can be with speed index 87 and/or load index T. Wheels on the Lada Vesta Cross size 205/50R17 89V can be replaced tires with a lower load index H.
conclusions
Summarizing all of the above, we can formulate several basic parameters that must be taken into account when selecting tires:
- Manufacturer's recommendations. Tires recommended by the manufacturer must be installed on the Lada Vesta. If necessary, you can change the standard tires to a different size, but you need to make sure that the tire size matches the rims and vehicle parameters.
- Weather. The choice of tires, especially winter ones, is based on the climate in your region. For harsh winters, drivers choose tires with studs, and in southern latitudes they use Velcro or all-season tires.
- Manufacturer. High-quality rubber from a reputable manufacturer will ensure its durability and reliability. The choice can be made based on the reviews given in the article, the opinions of friends and experts.
What wheels are on the car?
Initially, the car was offered only in a sedan body. And depending on the configuration option, you could order wheels of either 15th or 16th diameter. The situation did not change with the advent of the SW station wagon - the wheels on the Lada Vesta SV are exactly the same as those on the SE sedan.
And only with the advent of the Cross all-terrain version in sedan and station wagon bodies, the size of Lada Vesta wheels increased to a diameter of 17 inches. And this again distinguishes the car from all previous versions of LADA, which in the factory configuration were offered mainly with wheels with a diameter of 13, 14 and 15 inches.
Large wheels are also available in the Lada Vesta Sport version - and 17-inch tires are mounted on wheels that differ from the standard ones in the number of bolts, bolt pattern and centering hole.
Officially
Any manufacturer, not only AVTOVAZ, will require the use of only those tire and wheel sizes that are specified in the operating instructions. The car passed factory tests and certification on them. How it will behave on “shoes” with other parameters is unknown to the manufacturer, and he cannot take responsibility for such a replacement.
To confirm this, in general, obvious information, I nevertheless contacted the AVTOVAZ press service and called the Lada hotline incognito. Both sources were unanimous: on the Lada Vesta Cross sedan and station wagon, only 17-inch tires and wheels with the parameters specified in the operating instructions are allowed. Other options will be considered as a reason to refuse warranty repair of the chassis.
Bolt pattern and other parameters of Vesta disks
Many technical characteristics of the Lada Vesta are radically different from all previous AvtoVAZ cars. Including the bolt pattern, which has now become 4*100. That is, four bolts remained, but the distance between them increased by 2 mm, compared to the Priors and other VAZ models.
In addition to discs, Vesta uses bolts with different thread pitches. So the regular Lada Vesta comes with M12x1.5 bolts, and the Vesta Sport has M12x1.25 nuts. Where “12” is the diameter of the stud in mm, and 1.25 or 1.5 is the thread size. For wheels with a diameter wider than the standard, extended bolts on Vesta will be useful.
Other dimensions of Vesta wheels are width and offset (ET). For wheels of 15 and 16 diameters, the width is always 6 inches and the offset is 50 mm. For 17-diameter wheels, the width is 6.5 inches and the offset is 43 mm.
A separate issue is the factory wheels for the Lada Vesta Sport, which has been in production since last year. Non-standard wheels with a central hole with a diameter of 66.1 mm and a bolt pattern of 5*114.3 are used here. That is, “sports” wheels are mounted with five bolts and it is impossible to install them on other versions of Vesta.
Results
If a Lada Vesta car owner wants to know which wheels are suitable for his car, he must be aware of the configuration and the corresponding parameters of the wheel arch. Using this information, it is easy to find a part that will exactly fit the bolt pattern and purchase it from an authorized dealer. You can install a rubber disc on a car yourself or in specialized repair shops.
One of the important parameters of any car is the wheel size. After all, it is this characteristic that not only determines the attractive appearance, but also directly dictates how comfortable the car will be to drive, affects its dynamic performance, as well as cross-country ability. Below we will show the main tire sizes for the Lada Vesta, which has already earned popularity among our car enthusiasts.

* version for Lada Vesta Sport
What wheels does the Lada Vesta have as standard? In the basic version, stamped wheels for Vesta are available, and only 15-diameter. They are produced by AvtoVAZ subsidiaries. Alloy wheels are optionally available for the Vesta from K&K model ANNA-15.
The situation is similar with tires. In basic trim levels, standard summer tires are cheaper off the assembly line, but in rich trim levels they are more expensive. Tires 185/65/R15 88 N are produced in Russia - these are Pirelli Cinturato P1 tires. Although at the start of sales in November 2021, there were Vestas on Belshina ArtMotion Bel-280 tires.
The Matador is installed on 16-inch wheels, the model depends on the year of manufacture and configuration. There may be a Matador MP 47 Hectorra 3 or a Matador MP44 Elite 3. But on 17-inch wheels, which are ordered separately, there will be German Continental EcoContact 6 tires (winter tires - Continental WinterContact). By the way, Vesta Sport has premium Continental ContiSportContact 5 tires.
Should AVTOVAZ be blamed?
First of all, the wording “it turned out” in the reader’s question is unclear. The dimensions of tires and wheels allowed by the manufacturer are indicated in the operating instructions, which are posted on the official website in the public domain. If spending on consumables for a car is so important for the future owner, it is advisable to conduct a price analysis before purchasing the car.
It is worth admitting that with the price of the original 17-inch wheel (about 7,500 rubles), AVTOVAZ was really greedy. After scouring a dozen of the largest wheel sales sites, I really only found one perfect option - the KiK Flanker. It is cheaper by a thousand rubles, which saves 4,000 rubles per set. Which, in my opinion, is not so little.
After all, there is no obligation to necessarily start a complete winter kit. Are the wheels too expensive? Buy only tires. For the money that a Lada dealer asks for one disc, you can change the shoes of the entire car three or four times.
And to be completely honest, AVTOVAZ is by no means alone in the desire to make a little money. If you look for it, a similar “scam” for extra money can be found in almost any car! And the case with Vesta Cross is not the worst: for an attentive buyer it is obvious even before purchase.
Finally, a little tip: write complaints and suggestions if you are not satisfied with something. Just not to the magazine “Behind the Wheel”, but directly to the manufacturer. In recent years, AVTOVAZ has demonstrated more than once that it listens to customers. Perhaps, when the number of requests reaches a critical volume, 16-inch tires and wheels will be certified for Vesta in the Cross version.
Wheels on LADA Vesta Cross are not so subject to replacement by car owners. Vesta is presented as a family car, from which good handling and cross-country ability are expected. Since this model is still young in the Lada line, changing discs on it is quite a rare occurrence.
AvtoVAZ equips Vesta with wheels ranging from R15 to R17, depending on the configuration. These discs are quite high quality and will undoubtedly last a long time. Their appearance also cannot be called unsatisfactory, since the alloy wheels on it are installed in the factory version and have a good design that perfectly complements the massive appearance of the car itself.
Cars with different engines have slightly different wheels, which ensures overall suspension strength. After all, the workload of all car systems, from the engine to the brake system, depends on the discs.
Tires for lada vesta sw cross 2022 1.8ib/c
At the moment, there are 618 tire modifications for the Lada Vesta SW Cross on Mosavtoshina with an average rating of 4.45/5. Add your review.
Selecting tires and wheels for the Lada Vesta SW Cross 1.8i B/C 2021 allows you to reduce to a minimum the occurrence of various difficulties associated with the fact that many car owners often make mistakes when choosing such products on their own. In a significant proportion of cases, this is due to the failure to use a number of technical parameters. It is for this reason that installing a tire and wheel becomes very difficult and often impossible, and in addition, such changes in the vehicle’s configuration lead to increased load on the steering and many suspension components. The tire and wheel selection system of the Mosavtoshina online store contains a special database that contains various technical characteristics of almost all modern cars and trucks. To use this information to search for suitable options, the user simply needs to indicate the make, model, year of manufacture and modification of his own vehicle.

Checklist of advantages of ART Motion tires
1. The car gains high controllability. Excellent driving characteristics are observed even on wet asphalt. This is achieved thanks to special arc-shaped grooves on the inside of the tire. This is a kind of drainage system for quickly removing water from under the wheel. 2. The outer part of the rubber contains special enlarged relief blocks.
They are necessary to increase the stability of the car during drifts. 3. The tread pattern is designed to minimize noise while driving. 4. There are three longitudinal grooves on the tread; they are necessary for the directional stability of the car. 5. Tire pressure levels are maintained for a long time. 6. Due to low rolling resistance, fuel consumption is minimal, and the car accelerates faster. 7.
If you take the most expensive version of the Vesta car, it will have German Continental tires measuring 195/55/R16. This is one of the best solutions on the market today. At the same time, the optimal wheel size for the Lada Vesta is 16 inches.
As a result, the manufacturer equips the Lada Vesta with high-quality cast or stamped wheels. After replacement, it is important to install an equally high-quality option. Let's discuss the remaining opinions in the comments.
