Types of fuel pumps
Serial production of the “ten” began in 1995, that is, at a time when domestic cars were still equipped with carburetor systems. Mechanical fuel pumps were installed in them to pump fuel. This pump operates directly from the car engine.
For proper operation of the carburetor, high pressure is not required, and therefore the pump has a relatively simple design, similar to water pumping systems. It is installed directly under the hood of the car, which certainly makes it easier to service or replace.
With the advent of injectors, the design of the fuel pump was also modified; it became electric. The principle of its operation has also changed. If the operation of a mechanical pump requires the starter to start rotating the crankshaft, then in the injection system the fuel pump is first energized, which, using a built-in electric motor, creates the required pressure in the line, and only after that the engine starts.
This type of fuel pump is installed directly into the fuel tank.
Thus, there are two types of fuel pumps: mechanical and electrical.
I Love My Lada
Replacing standard lamps in headlights, DRLs and license plate lights on a Lada Vesta is possible. However, you need to approach the issue extremely carefully so that everything does not end with a burnt electronics unit.

- Problems
- What to buy?
After purchasing a Lada Vesta, many of its owners are seriously thinking about replacing the lamps in the head optics and license plate lights. Many people try to install diodes, because with them the sedan looks much more attractive. But all this usually turns into very unpleasant consequences.
Problems
There is one big problem - the risk of burning out the electronics unit, which, by the way, happened to many Vesta owners. For example, if you put LEDs in the DRL of a sedan, then after a short time they will simply stop shining. As a rule, in such cases, the fuses are replaced, which are marked in the instructions with the symbols F16 and F17.
Replacement must be done carefully
However, there are none under the cover that covers the fuse box. In the end, it all ends with a burnt-out electronics unit, which has to be replaced. It's all about the higher resistance of the diodes, which is why Vesta's electronics unit cannot withstand it.
The most unpleasant thing is that this is not a warranty case, so contacting the dealership for a warranty replacement will not help. You have to buy the unit yourself, and it is quite expensive - it is not always possible to find a part even for 8,000 rubles, and sometimes the price tag for an element reaches 19,000 rubles!
Moreover, such a problem can arise not only because of LEDs. If you thoughtlessly select and install components, it is more than possible to end up with a burnt-out unit.
What to buy?
One of the Drayvovites, who is known in the community under the nickname 22KAZAK, carefully studied this issue before replacing the lamps in all the above components on his Lada Vesta Altai sedan. As a result, he came to the conclusion that it is possible to replace factory lamps with an analogue one, but only if you purchase tested, certified products and proper installation, so this point must be monitored especially carefully.
So, to replace you will need:
- Low beam – LED lamps OPTIMA CL-6 LED HEADLIGHT. Installing such lamps will also require the purchase of universal rubber covers for the headlamp.
- Dimensions and DRLs are MTF W21/5W LEDs. They fully comply with the requirements and match the polarity.
- License plate light – PHILIPS.
During the installation process, questions usually do not arise and you can do everything yourself. The main thing is to correctly calculate the polarity when installing lamps in side lights/DRLs. If you are not confident in your abilities and knowledge, it is strongly recommended to consult an auto electrician or entrust the work to him.
The new Lada Vesta, regardless of the body, received fairly well-designed optics with halogen low and high beam sources. Fortunately, the boom in collective farm xenon is beginning to subside; the guys have played enough and realized that good xenon headlights cost good money. Actually, just like LED light. Neither xenon nor LEDs will provide 100% efficiency when installed in conventional optics designed for halogen light. Therefore, we will figure out how to replace standard halogens with more efficient ones and which lamps are best to pay attention to.
Halogen light sources have not yet sung their swan song. At least on VAZ cars, and on all imported public sector cars as well. With proper adjustment, good care and careful selection of lamps, standard headlights without any modifications can shine quite informatively and no worse than foreign cars. It is important that the engineers took care not only of the visually pleasing modern architecture of the head optics, but also of the possibilities for its configuration and maintenance. For example, in order to replace the low beam, high beam, side lights or daytime running lights, you do not need to completely dismantle the headlight, as was the case with the tenth family or Kalina.
Lamps of the following base standards and power ratings were installed on Vesta from the factory:
- low beam lamp with H7 base , 55 W ;
- for high beams, lamps with an H1 of the same power are used;
- side lights and daytime running lights - W21/5W ;
- PY21W lamps with an orange bulb are used for the direction indicator.
As for the brands of lamps, Osram Bilux, a Mayak lamp or General Electric, as well as Phillips could be installed from the Vesta factory as a source of low or high beam.
The Lada Vesta headlight unit has a complex architecture, but access to replacement lamps from under the hood is quite comfortable. To replace the lamps, no additional tools are needed; however, it is advisable to carry out the work using clean knitted gloves. This is explained by the fact that when you touch the bulb of any halogen lamp with your fingers, microscopic particles of fat remain on it.
At high temperatures, the fat begins to burn out, and the flask at the point of contact darkens and, due to uneven heating, bursts over time. Therefore, if we accidentally touch the flask with our fingers, it must be wiped with a soft cloth soaked in alcohol.
The Vesta headlight unit is designed as follows. The plastic housing contains reflectors and lamp mounts. Under cover 1 there is a high beam lamp, under cover 2 there is a low beam lamp, the direction indicator is in socket 3, and the DRL and clearance lamp is in socket 4.
To replace low and high beam lamps, we use the following procedure:
Which lamps are better for high beam Lada Vesta
As we have already found out, lamps with H1 and H7 sockets for high beam are suitable for the Vesta headlight. According to user reviews, these types of lamps and brands have become the most popular. For low beam lamps with H1 socket:
- Series of Korean MTF lamps. Very good quality at a reasonable price. MTF Light MAGNESIUM H1 100W model is distinguished by a high resource (more than 550 hours), warm white light, and has a two-layer interference coating.
- MTF Light PALLADIUM H1 55W , good lamps from the same Korean company with a bright bluish light. They have one minor drawback - after 400-450 hours of operation they lose brightness.
- Osram H1 Cool Blue 4000K 64150 CB, for those who love xenon light. German quality, a little more expensive than Korean ones, but they work well. Under normal conditions, they work their 500 hours without loss of efficiency. Color temperature: 4000K.
- Osram H1 Night Breaker + 90% 64150 NBR, the manufacturer claims that the light cone extends 35 m further than analogues, has a bright white light and is popular with dozens of owners.
- Philips H1 Crystal Vision (4300K), another very popular model. Color temperature: 4300K, which makes their light similar to xenon, but the cone of light is more saturated, which makes the readability of signs and markings better.
- Philips H1 NightGuide DoubleLife , a new series, but is steadily in demand in 2017-2018 due to its tri-color lighting technology - bright white, cool white and warm white colors are distributed across zones, increasing the readability of markings and preventing the glare of oncoming traffic.
Optimal lamps for low beam Vesta
The most popular low beam lamps with H7 socket are the following:
OSRAM H7 12V 55W PX26d
One of the leaders among users of second-generation Ford Focus halogen headlights. Excellent quality, German assembly and high lamp life are confirmed by reviews. According to the manufacturer, the lamp life is about five hundred hours, which is very good compared to competitors.
Philips H7 12V 55W PX26d LongeLife Ecovision
This is one of the brightest lamps in the rating. The resource is also good. At least the manufacturer claims a service life of 100,000 km. It’s hard to believe, but quartz glass and resistance to temperature changes put this lamp in second position.
Philips Vision H7
And again Phillips. This lamp promises a brighter and longer beam of light while keeping the price within the budget range. The flask is also made of quartz glass, the spiral is stress-resistant, protected from sunlight by a special coating.
Bosch H7 12V 55W PX26d ECO
New German PX26d lamp with increased luminous flux. This is one example of how a manufacturer should behave with a buyer. The PX26d does not promise a hundred-kilometer beam and the brightness of a borderline spotlight, but it gives good value for its money. Moreover, its service life, according to user reviews, is at least 70,000 km. Only then does the light become dimmer.
MTF Iridium H7
A good budget option with one drawback - the blurred border of the light spot. A filament with improved characteristics, which affected the brightness of the light beam. This figure is approximately 25-30% higher than other lamps in this price category. In addition, the lamp uses space zoning technology. Back to top Sources used:
Which fog lights are better for the VAZ-2110
Outwardly, you may not notice much difference between high-quality headlights and “analogs” of unknown origin.
Making the right choice in this case is very difficult, since a huge number of headlights have appeared on sale, different in shape, light source and color spectrum.
It is also important what material the diffuser is made of - glass or polycarbonate. Since PTFs are installed low, puny plastic cases do not last long
And if we take into account that in the rain we will often have to wipe the diffuser with improvised means, then the low-quality material will rub off and all the work of the lamps will go down the drain.
Regular and similar PTFs
Rectangular fog lights with standard mounts fit into the VAZ-2110 bumper in a standard place without additional modifications. They are produced by a lot of manufacturers, but, again, all these headlights are different both in the quality of the optics and in the light source.
The most common are two types of domestically produced PTFs OSVAR and headlights from the Avtosvet plant from Kirzhach. The latter have two modifications - for a lamp with H3 and H1 sockets. According to user reviews, headlights with H1 lamps provide a denser and more concentrated luminous flux over the entire illumination range. Their price is about 900 rubles apiece. But they are sold without a lamp.
Domestic headlights - OSVAR 2212.3743-04. They are assembled rather roughly and this spoils the appearance. The lampshade is non-removable and is glued in with sealant, which if damaged will affect the cost of replacement. However, with a price of about 700 rubles (with a lamp), they look pretty decent. The illumination is even, but if installed correctly, the near zone is illuminated worse.
Another relatively domestic manufacturer is the Ryazan Bosch plant
The headlights are designed for H3 lamps, the light doesn’t matter, but they also cost about 650 rubles. The most budget option for infrequent use
They are sold without a lamp.

Which fog lights are better to install on a VAZ 2114
We found out which PTFs are best suited for the VAZ 2114. Good road lighting is very important for a smooth ride. Fog lights provide better visibility in bad weather
Even today they are used for a better look as a complement to the high beams. So at some point the question is, which PTF is better for the VAZ 2114?
VA series 1 2114
there was no fog. In the latest modifications, of course, cars that come with PTF and others have plugs for installation.
There are drivers who are satisfied with the regular version of the PTF on the VAZ. Unfortunately, most of them search and communicate to choose the best model for their car.
Types of fog lights
Fogs 4.5 types:
Headlights are made for a specific car model with the same supports and body as the original.
Universal headlights have mounts that allow you to install them on any car in the bumper, radiator grill, or hang the bumper.
Depending on the type of lamp, lights are divided into:
Halogen bulbs are cheaper than other options. However, they tend to burn out and require frequent replacement.
Xenon headlights are better than halogen PTF to illuminate the road
and last longer. But strict light curtains are imposed on oncoming drivers, and they will be fined for being too bright. LED headlights are more energy efficient and don't even have the same battery drain as the latter two headlights. They are durable and provide excellent illumination of the road. If installed incorrectly, in other words, ventilation, LED headlights overheat and become inoperable.
PTF is available in plastic, duralumin and magnesium cases. Duralumin and magnesium options are considered more durable and reliable.
Fog lights are equipped with plastic or glass light lenses. Plastic diffusers wash out over time and let in terrible light, which affects road visibility and traffic safety. If glass diffuser headlights are selected, make sure they are designed for design, you can change them.
If the fog lights
not in use, for greater safety, of course, close them with plastic plugs.
Selection bias
To determine which fog lights to install on the Vase 2114, you need to know the right aspects of choice.

- Strong business. The situation on Russian roads, the headlight housing must be made of a material that is resistant to damage and temperature fluctuations. It is preferable that the design includes plugs.
- Robust lights and wires, relays and lights included.
- Wide spot light, uniform light distribution and low scattering and refraction losses.
- Adjustment and adjustment of the light spot vertically and horizontally.
- Don't blind oncoming drivers.
- Easy replacement of a burnt out lamp. Look at the purchase instructions for replacing the lamp. The easier and faster this can be changed, the less time it will take for the lamp to suddenly burn out. Ideally, no further replacement is required after replacing the lamp.
- Profitability. When selecting headlights, try to avoid excessive electrical and generator loads. Lamps up to 55 W are almost always enough.
- Thick durable lenses.
- Excellent aerodynamic characteristics.
- Compliance with machine design.
and better. Of the available PTFs, in most cases the following models are installed on the VAZ 2114:

Since the staff bumper does not have seats, they must be made by yourself. To do this you may need:
- Drill with a drill;
- Electric puzzle;
- File;
- Measuring instruments (tape measure, ruler, etc.);
- Marker;

On our channel you will always find a solution to your problems that you have when repairing your steel
Installation of fog lights is carried out with the bumper removed. Marking is first done on a bumper that has been cleaned of dirt. The optimal installation location is at the level of the lower air intake, but at some distance from it. It is advisable that the PTF be located strictly under the headlights.
First determine the distance at which the fog lights will be removed from the air intake. Then we'll figure out what size holes to cut. Decorative “glasses” will help with this. They consist of two halves. external (decorative) and internal (fixes the external part and the headlights themselves).
The outer half of the glasses has tabs on the inside to fit into the hole in the bumper. To determine the size of the hole, the dimensions of this mounting protrusion are measured. After we place the markings with the appropriate dimensions on the bumper.
Once the markings are complete, we will continue cutting the holes with an electric jigsaw. After this, the edges of the holes must be adjusted using a file
It is important to make sure that the outer part of the glass fits tightly into the hole
In these holes we fix the fog lights with bolted connections. All that remains is to fix the “glasses” headlights.
After installing the fog lights, we install the bumper on the car. This completes the first stage.
The base may be different
Depending on what type of fog lights are installed in YOUR car, there may be a different base. There can be two bases in total: H3 and H11.
To be completely sure, I recommend removing the burnt-out lamp and picking up a similar one at an auto store.
If you know for sure that you have original PTFs manufactured by Kirzhach installed, then the base is H11. Non-original fog lamps, for example, Bosch, work with the H3 socket. But there are also H4s.
In this PTF the base is H4
Installing LED lamps in a standard base
Let's say right away that PTF LED lamps shine worse.
My husband still managed to get the xenon in. Now it’s very cool to drive in the dark, just heaven and earth compared to the factory light.
The lamp base depends on the manufacturer, I personally have Bosch fog lights and have bulbs with an H4 base, but they can also be H3. My light bulbs are made in China, the so-called “halogen xenon”, they shine very well, and most importantly, they are not prohibited in our country.
VAZ doesn’t particularly worry about installing base lamps in the factory fog lights of the VAZ-2114; after all, this is not a premium segment car. The cheapest base light bulbs are available. Therefore, I advise all owners of this model to change them to xenon. Believe me, you will immediately notice a huge difference.
As you know, traffic safety is greatly influenced by the quality of road lighting. At the same time, fog lights can provide a noticeable improvement in visibility in difficult weather conditions (rain, fog, etc.)
Drivers also actively use PTF in the dark as a supplement to the head beam or high beam. However, not all cars are equipped with fog lights from the factory. Unfortunately, the popular VAZ 2114 and VAZ 2115 may not have PTF.
Naturally, owners of such cars often install fog lights themselves. Next, we will look at which fog lights for the VAZ 2114 are better to choose, what to look for when purchasing fog lights for the VAZ 2115, etc.

Pros and cons of cars
In Russia, the VAZ 2115 became the most popular. It was believed that the sedan body was more popular. However, with the advent of a large number of foreign cars, hatchbacks began to be in demand. Considering the popularity of cars among the younger generation, I want them to be in great demand. Acceleration up to 100 km. faster than the “tag”, because its weight is less. The choice of model should be determined based on your needs. The hatchback can accommodate more cargo. And if you fold the rear seats, the interior volume turns into a large trunk. It is not possible to load large cargo into the sedan.
The advantages of the 2114 include a smaller rear body. Many drivers note the parking factor - it is easier to park than a sedan
Although experienced car enthusiasts say that it is important to feel the dimensions of the car, and any parking will not be difficult
But the presence of a heavy trunk lid should also be considered a disadvantage. While driving, the fastenings become loose and extraneous sounds appear. Moreover, the “fourteenth” model has problems with rear window contamination, and only a windshield wiper can solve it.
The driving parameters are actually no different, because they belong to the same segment of the automotive industry. The cost of spare parts is low, and there are no problems with the availability of one or another part. Relatively inexpensive and the cost of repairs. In the secondary car market, the cost of VAZ 2114 and 2115 is low, which means it is affordable. With proper care and careful operation, the car will bring a lot of positive emotions.
Replacing halogen lamps with analogues
When traveling long distances, the quality of light from halogen lamps may not suit the driver for various reasons. Usually they are replaced with LED or gas-discharge bulbs in the PTF VAZ 2114. However, there are no strict restrictions on the installation of LED bulbs. Conditions and restrictions must be taken into account when installing xenon.
Before upgrading a halogen lamp, it is removed and the base size and brightness are determined. An LED lamp is purchased with a similar base and a brightness of at least 1000 lm. Otherwise, the effect of the replacement will tend to zero.
Installation and connection of front and rear PTFs on VAZ 2113, 2114, 2115
Before you begin installing fog lights, you will need to select a certain list of tools and additional elements. You can purchase a ready-made connection kit or select the necessary spare parts separately. When everything is prepared, you can mark on the front bumper a place for installing future headlights. The VAZ 2115 comes with standard holes from the factory, but in the case of the VAZ 2113 and VAZ 2114 you will need to work with a tool (a jigsaw or a drill). If you don’t want to damage the bumper, you can install the lighting fixtures on special brackets.
To install foglights in the front bumper, you need to make holes using a jigsaw or drill with drill bits, having previously completed the markings
You will need:
- file;
- drill and drill bits;
- electric jigsaw;
- roulette;
- marker.
Installation materials
As a rule, the kit for installing PTF on VAZ 2113, 2114, 2115 includes the following elements:
- headlights with bulbs;
- set of wires;
- electromagnetic relay;
- PTF power button;
- ties and clips for fixing wires;
- PTF connection diagram VAZ 2113, 2114, 2115.
The kit for connecting fog lights should include wires with terminals and connectors, a relay, a button
The installation of the lighting sources in question must be carried out using a button and an electromagnetic relay. The fact is that fog lights consume quite a lot of current and connecting directly to the ignition switch will lead to burning and subsequently burnout of the contacts. All this can contribute to damage to the wire insulation and the occurrence of a short circuit, which may result in failure of the electrical wiring.
Step-by-step installation and connection of PTF
To install fog lights, the following procedure must be followed:
- Installation of the headlight switch button in the cabin. You can choose any location for the element, as long as the driver can easily operate the key. Quite often, the part is installed instead of plugs on the dashboard.
- The grille with the dynamic head is removed from the front panel. Behind it there are two blocks designed to turn on the headlights, indicate the operation of the PTF and illuminate the button.
- Having placed the button in a convenient place, connectors are connected to it. After this, the grate can be put back in place.
- The relay is installed under the hood on the partition of the engine compartment near the mounting block. To remove it, you need to unscrew 2 nuts, lift it and find 2 pads (numbers 7 and 8).
- A block with a harness of four wires with contacts included in the kit is laid to the relay block.
- The connection of the wires that come from the PTF relay is carried out according to the diagram in the following order: the wire from the 30th contact of the relay is connected to block No. 8 of the mounting block at the 8th terminal, the 87th contact of the relay goes to the 1st terminal of the connector, 86 is “ground”, and 85 is connected with the 17th terminal of block No. 7.
- The positive wires are pulled to the PTF, the mass is mainly secured to the nut of the headlights. The “+” voltage is supplied to the fog lights from the 2nd and 3rd contacts of block No. 8.
- After all connections, the connectors are installed in the mounting block and secured.
As for the rear PTFs on VAZ 2113, 2114, 2115, on these modifications of the car such a light source is installed from the factory, i.e. another light bulb is used in the rear light. Control is also carried out from the passenger compartment using a button, but without fixing, since a slightly different relay design (electronic) is used. It’s worth knowing about this and not trying to install a latching key.

Checking the performance of PTF on VAZ 2113, 2114, 2115
After the lighting devices are installed and connected, you need to check how correctly everything works. To do this, just turn on the headlights and press the key that supplies voltage to the PTF relay, after which the headlamp lamps should light up. When the headlights are turned off, the PTF lamps should also go out, regardless of the position of the fog light button. After checking the functionality of the light source, you will need to adjust the light output so that oncoming drivers are not dazzled.
After installation and connection, we check the operation of the PTF: when the lights are turned on and the fog lights are pressed, the lights should light up, when the lights are turned off, the lights should go out
Fog optics are essential lighting equipment for any car. Such devices greatly facilitate travel in poor visibility conditions. If a certain car model does not have PTF installed from the factory, you can carry out the installation yourself. This does not require special tools or special skills and knowledge.
Installation
The PTF installation process can be divided into three main stages:
- Installation of headlights;
- Network connection;
- Functionality check.
So now we will talk about each stage separately.
Installing headlights
We will consider the option of installing PTF on a standard bumper. Therefore, it does not have holes for new optics. You will have to do them yourself.
To work you will need a certain set of tools and materials:
- File;
- Drill and drill bits;
- Electric jigsaw;
- Roulette;
- Marker.
Elements for connection
Now about the work itself.
- First of all, remove the bumper. Work is performed only if it is disconnected from the seat.
- Remove all dirt from the bumper.
- Make markings for the installation of future fog optics.
- It is best to mount the headlights slightly to the side of the lower air intake. Try to place the PTF strictly under the main optics of your car.
- For decorative glasses that have outer and inner halves, make markings. The outer half is decorative, and the inner half is designed to fix the outer part and headlights.
- The outer part of the glasses has a protrusion on the inside. With this mounting protrusion, the element should fit into the hole made in the bumper.
- To determine the optimal dimensions, you should measure the landing protrusion. This way you can make the appropriate markings on your bumper.
- Using an electric jigsaw, holes of the required size and location are cut.
- Use a file to file the cut areas.
- The outer part of the glasses should eventually fit tightly into the hole.
- Fog lights are mounted in the resulting holes. For this purpose, the kit includes special mounting bolts.
- Attach decorative glasses to the top of the headlights. The bumper can then be returned to its place.

Connection
Together with the PTF, a diagram for connecting the devices must be attached. It is not complicated, so even a beginner will be able to understand all the nuances of connecting the components to each other.
You will need to embed the wiring from the foglights into the mounting block, which is located in the engine compartment to the right of the windshield. To do this, just unscrew the bolts from the block, lift it and find the pads marked Ш7 and Ш8.
These blocks are used to connect fog lights, although these lighting devices are not installed standard at the factory. Wiring from the headlights and from the fog lamp relay, which is provided in the purchased PTF kit, is connected to these blocks.
Your job is to make the correct connection. This is done according to the following scheme:
- The output wire from pin 87 is ground, so you need to connect it to the car body;
- Pin number 85 goes to the block marked Ш7 and is connected to connector number 17;
- Pins numbered 30 and 86 go to block Ш8. In this case, connect pin 30 to connector 8, and lead 86 to connector number 1;
- Having installed the headlights, stretch the positive wire through the engine compartment, as they are connected to the Ш8 block. But these wires need to be inserted into connectors numbered 2 and 3;
- Now connect the block to the mounting block, and return the block to its place;
- Select an area near the block where the fog light relay will be installed.
Connection result
Button
Now all you have to do is connect the control system for your PTFs. Included with the fog lights is a corresponding button, which will stand on the panel in the seat provided by the manufacturer.
PTF button
The manufacturer, that is, AvtoVAZ, provided for this. Therefore, under the panel you will find a control block. The panel is removed, the corresponding block is located and the button is connected to it. That's it, the controls are ready.
Examination
The last stage is to check the functionality of your PTFs.
To check the efficiency of the lighting devices, turn on the headlights on your VAZ 2114, then press the button to turn on the fog lights. When the lights are turned off, even if the fog lights button is pressed, they should still go out.
The importance of PTF is difficult to overestimate. They help you see the road better during fog, rain, and snow. Moreover, fog lights are designed to improve the visibility of your car to oncoming and behind vehicles. Therefore, we strongly recommend installing PTF not only in front, but also in the rear.

The best bulbs for fog lights
Here are the TOP 5 best lamps from different manufacturers.
LYNX H11
Japanese halogen lamps are characterized by low energy consumption and an average price of about 400 rubles. The rich yellow light illuminates the road well at night in any weather.
You should be careful with LYNX light bulbs - there have been defective products.
KOITO WHITEBEAM III H8
The brightness of KOITO halogens is as close as possible to standard xenon. The Japanese manufacturer combines increased brightness and a natural yellowish tint. The disadvantages include the high price (two thousand for a pair of lamps) and cases of fakes.
These lamps are installed in both foglights and headlights.
PHILIPS H27W STANDARD
The use of quartz glass and a special filter helped manufacturers increase the service life of the consumable. At a really low price - about 200 rubles - halogens have a good luminous flux with a yellowish tint. The color temperature of the lamp is 3200K.
OSRAM ORIGINAL LINE H27
Permanent sales leader in the automotive lamp market. Average price, excellent quality and long service life. Such lamps are installed as standard in Audi, Mercedes, and Toyota cars.
Recently, many fakes of poor quality have appeared on the Russian market.
CATZ H8 CB802
Japanese engineers came up with a special glow. A special filament and gas filling the bulb provide the lamp with a very bright glow and a long service life. The main disadvantage of these Japanese consumables is the very high price, more than five thousand rubles. Perhaps later the manufacturing technology will become more widespread, and lighting devices will become more accessible.
Every driver of a motorcycle, car, or truck feels discomfort when driving in foggy weather. Since visibility is low, you can end up in a ditch, collide with an oncoming vehicle, or hit a pedestrian. In such cases, fog lights come to the rescue, illuminating the road and roadsides low and widely. After studying the rating, drivers can choose some of the best PTFs for their car, which in the long run will save a lot of nerve cells, and maybe even someone’s life.
What's the result?
Taking into account the above information, it becomes clear that the decision to install fog lights on a VAZ 2114 or VAZ 2115 allows you to improve road lighting at night, in difficult weather conditions, etc. As practice shows, the presence of fog lights allows for better illumination of the roadside; when driving in conditions of insufficient natural or artificial lighting, the strain on the driver’s eyes and overall fatigue while driving are noticeably reduced.
High-quality fog lights significantly help the driver in poor visibility, in particular when, due to fog, the light from the main optics is completely reflected, forming a “white wall”. And their correct operation depends on what kind of bulbs you installed in the VAZ 2114 foglights.
The VAZ 2114 is not equipped with standard fog lights. But the market now offers a very wide selection of different options that can help solve this problem:
- Ready tuning bumper with PTF.
- The bumper is from the older model 2115 with sockets for fog lights.
- Installation of ready-made PTF and facing elements.
Installation of ready-made PTF with facing elements is extremely popular. When choosing PTFs, pay attention to their power and the types of lamps that can be installed.
Product change process
Anyone can replace a failed component of the low or high beam system. You will need the following tools:
- awl (thin screwdriver);
- magnet equipped with a long handle (optional).
After this, follow the instructions:
- Open the hood with the car's ignition off. Find the headlight units on both sides of the car.
- Unscrew the protective box of the light source on the headlamp from both sides. After removing the box cover, you will see under it a block with three contacts that are responsible for powering the lighting system, as well as a spring-type holder.
- Disconnect the block, and then, using a squeezing movement of the product fasteners, release the lighting element. You can remove it from the standard mounting location.
To replace and replace with another bright light product, follow the instructions in reverse order.
PTF adjustment
Standard adjustment is not provided even on cars equipped with PTF. If several years of operation of a car equipped with PTF have passed, or you installed the headlights yourself, the headlights need to be adjusted, because the direction of the light spot will not comply with the rules.
If changing the angles of inclination in the headlight itself is impossible, use gaskets, linings and other devices. A special stand is required to carry out the work. If you wish, you can draw the same grid on the garage as on the stand and adjust the low, high beam and PTF yourself.
Buying what you need
You can, in principle, buy a ready-made set along with wires, but many believe that if you buy everything separately, the number of installation options increases, and it will all cost less. So, we buy:
- Set of headlights (2 pieces);
- Plastic pads;
- Headlight frames;
- A key and a yellow indicator for it;
- Relay;
- Wires. It is better to purchase ones from an electrical equipment store, so that there are two copper conductors with double insulation (ShVVP-2 is suitable). A cross section of 0.5 mm will also be normal, but if you want to install lamps of higher power, take 0.75 mm;
- Terminal for installation to ground;
- Wide as well as narrow terminals, called mother/father. When purchasing them, it is advisable not to take them complete with wires. Installation will be more convenient if these terminals are crimped with pliers already on the connections of the installed wires.
None You can, of course, vary it, but we are talking about the convenience of the location of the buttons. Regarding the power of the lamps, 55 W is enough, no more is needed. Also keep in mind that very cheap fog lights will not last long.
How to replace a lamp
Before replacing the light bulb, you need to buy a new one with the same parameters. It is better to choose reliable brands from well-known manufacturers. Before replacing, it is better to lift the car on a lift or jack, or place it over a hole.
Sequencing:
- Remove the negative terminal from the battery.
- We find the fog lamp power supply.
- Slide the rubber protection along the headlight.
- Disconnect the connector and block.
- We move the spring clips away from the headlight reflector (we remove the loops of the clips from the hooks).
- We take out a light bulb with a wire.
- We connect and install a new lamp.
- We assemble the headlight.
- Checking the operation of the new light bulb.
Replacing lamps in PTF VAZ 2114
The old light bulb is removed along with the wire. The new bulb should have exactly the same wire as the old one.
Possible malfunctions and ways to eliminate them
And finally, let’s look at typical faults that can cause PTF failure:
- Burnout of lamps. We replace them with new ones (see section above).
- The fuses have failed. We open the mounting block and check fuses F8 and F9. If necessary, replace with inserts of the same rating (10 A).
- There is no minus power supply to the lamp. We crawl under the bumper and check the wire connecting the PTF lamp to the car body. Either it is torn, or the place where it is clamped under the headlight bolt has simply oxidized.
- There is no minus power to the relay. We open the engine compartment and check the wire coming from the 86th contact of the relay to the body. Either it is torn, or the place where it is clamped under the bolt has simply oxidized.
- A break or short circuit to the body of the wires supplying the PTF bulbs. In the second case, when replacing the fuse with a working one, the latter immediately burns out. We inspect the PTF power wires, find them, and fix them.
- The headlight relay is faulty. We exchange it for a rented one and check it. If everything works, we buy a new relay.
- The PTF switch is faulty. We remove it, call a tester, change it.
- There is no voltage at the 85th relay contact. We turn on the PTF and measure the voltage with a tester relative to the body. If it is not there, we look for a fault in the mounting block.
On this, perhaps, the conversation about the fog lights of the VAZ 2114 can be completed. Now we know how to install them ourselves, and, if necessary, repair them.

VAZ 2115 - new version of the 99th model
A small number of VAZ 2115 were manufactured by the AvtoVAZ plant in early 1997. The new product was a re-release of the previously existing 99 model. The changes affected the rear, as well as the front, interior, and increased trunk volume. The driving characteristics remained unchanged, a 1.5-liter engine with a carburetor system and a power of 72 hp.
Starting in 2000, the production of the model was redirected to the main conveyor. The technical characteristics were changed: fuel injection became distributed, and the number of horsepower increased to 78. Subsequently, in 2007, the engine was replaced - from a volume of 1.5 to 1.6 and the power increased to 81 hp.
The main causes of PTF malfunction
The most common reasons why the VAZ 2114 fog lights do not work are as follows:
- fuse is blown;
- burnt out light bulb(s);
- oxidation of contacts occurred;
- lost contact with the “mass”;
- the button is faulty;
- the relay has failed.
In addition, some other, rarer reasons are possible, which we will also consider below.
And so, the very first and most common reason is a blown fuse.
Each of the fog lights has its own fuse, namely F9 and F8 in the block, each of which is designed for a maximum current of 7.5 Amperes. In some cases, it happens that there are no fuses responsible for protecting the fog lights in the common block.
This happens when a car is purchased second-hand, and the PTFs were installed independently by its previous owner. In this case, you should inspect the entrance and the board on which the headlights themselves are located. Very often, during self-installation, the fuse is attached in this place.
When replacing, you should use a fuse exclusively for a current of 7.5 A. A fuse designed for a higher current simply will not be able to protect the headlights from a voltage surge, and one designed for a lower one will often burn out.
If both fog lights do not light up at once, then the problem is most likely not in the fuse, since the failure of two protective elements at once is quite rare.
The next reason why the fog lights on the VAZ 2114 do not light up may be the usual burnout of the light bulbs. In order to check this, just unscrew the old lamps and screw in new ones in their place.
Another, no less common reason (especially in the middle climate) is the oxidation of the contact connectors of the headlights themselves. Very often this causes blinking or intermittent operation of the light bulbs. In order to eliminate this nuisance, it is enough to remove oxides by cleaning the headlight contacts with fine-grain sandpaper or wiping well with WD-40, White Spirit or kerosene.
Also, the contact running from the battery negative to the housing (to ground) often oxidizes. If this happens, the joint should be thoroughly cleaned, as described above.
Another reason why the fog lights may not turn on is the failure of the button located on the front panel of the car, which is used to turn on the PTF. You can check its functionality in two ways: connect a new button (if you have one) and try to turn on the headlights, or ring the button with a multimeter. If the button turns out to be damaged, it should be replaced with a new one, since it is practically not repairable.
Failure of the relay may also be the reason why the rear fog lights of the VAZ 2114 do not work. It is checked in the same way as a button - by testing the contact legs or replacing the relay with a new one. If it turns out that it has become unusable, it should also be replaced.
Often the cause of headlight failure can be the headlights themselves. During long-term use, the reflective layer can be destroyed, chipped and fall on electrical elements, thereby interfering with their proper operation. That is why it is worth periodically checking the internal condition of all headlights (not just PTF).
If all of the above reasons have been checked, and none of them have been identified, then the problem is in the wiring itself. In this case, you should ring all the wires used in the fog lamp connection circuit, and also check the correctness of the connection itself.
This can be done using the diagram given at the beginning
In this case, special attention should be paid to the correct connection (to the correct connectors) of the button and relay

Types of light bulbs in PTF
Several types of light bulbs are used for lighting:
- LED;
- halogen;
- gas-discharge.
Halogen light bulbs are the most common. They are considered quite effective and do not blind oncoming traffic. At the same time, such bulbs in the fog lamps of the VAZ 2114 have a short resource and become very hot. Sudden cooling of heated glass can lead to cracks and chips. If, in pursuit of illumination, the driver has installed lamps that are too strong compared to the standard power, this leads to the control unit overheating and the headlights automatically turning off.
LED light bulbs are becoming increasingly popular. They are distinguished by a wide color range, sufficient brightness and efficient power consumption. LEDs heat up slightly and do not overheat the working area of the headlight. Therefore, during long-term operation of the PTF, the headlights do not melt and do not fail. Headlights with such bulbs do not blind oncoming cars. But LED lamps are more expensive than halogen lamps. Careful selection of lamps is also necessary: they are not suitable for all types of headlights.
LED lamps for PTF
High power LEDs require a special cooling system.
Gas discharge or xenon lamps are considered the most powerful and efficient. The regulations have strict restrictions on the use of HID lamps. By law, these lamps are used only in headlights marked “D”, equipped with automatic leveling. Their installation and replacement is more complex than the installation of halogen and LED options. If installed correctly, their service life will be about 3 years.
Significant disadvantages of xenon lamps are the high price and the fact that if one of the bulbs burns out, both lamps will need to be replaced.
If both lamps burn out at once, the reason may be that the lamp power is too high. It happens that fuses blow if you drive into the water and the PTF suddenly cools down. Therefore, first check the fuses, the condition of the lamps, and only if they are really burned out, replace them with new ones.
Fog lights VAZ 2114
We find out which PTFs are best suited for the VAZ 2114
Good road lighting is very important for accident-free driving. Fog lights provide better visibility in poor weather conditions. In addition, at night they can be used for better visibility as a complement to the high beams. So sooner or later the question arises, which PTFs are better for the VAZ 2114?
The first series of VAZ 2114 did not have fog lights. In the latest modifications, there are cars that have PTFs included in the kit, while others have bumper plugs for installation.
There are drivers who are satisfied with the standard VAZ version of the PTF. But most people search and compare to choose the most suitable model for their car.
WHY DO YOU NEED ALL-WEATHER MODELS
There are several types of lamps, one of which is all-weather. The key feature of this type is that during manufacturing a special coating is applied to the inner wall of the bulb, which has interference properties, which gives the light a yellowish tint. This is done to improve the contrast of the illuminated area, especially during bad weather. For example, the light of an ordinary H4 light bulb is strongly reflected from falling raindrops, which often blinds the driver, interfering with visibility. Yellowish light has a lower degree of reflectivity and is less irritating to the eye when reflected, which is more beneficial for driving in bad weather.
In addition, a car with all-weather h4 lamps is more visible on the road, both in fog and in pouring rain, which significantly reduces the likelihood of a traffic accident.
Safety is a top priority for all-weather models.
The most common types, as shown by the h4 lamp test, are:
- IPF H4 Superbeam,
- GENERAL ELECTRIC H4 AllDay,
- PHILIPS H4 Weather Vision,
- NARVA H4 Azzurro.
The brightest h4 lamps listed are PHILIPS H4 Weather Vision and GENERAL ELECTRIC H4 AllDay. They show the best results among all-weather ones, however they are much more expensive. All of them are bright enough, but it’s up to you to decide which h4 bulbs are best. It all depends on individual requirements.
Which ones are better?
Typically, standard optics have halogen elements; replacing them with the same ones, but more powerful, makes no sense. It is better to install LED lamps in fog lights; a good option is to replace the fog lamp with xenon (author of the video - Learning to drive a car. All the secrets for beginners.).
LEDs can be installed in PTF without restrictions, unlike xenon. Replacing a light bulb in a fog lamp does not require special equipment or specific knowledge, so you can replace it yourself. It is better to buy products from trusted brands, since cheap Chinese samples are often of poor quality and quickly fail.
When purchasing LEDs, you need to select a lamp with a base similar to the halogen counterpart. An important parameter for fog lights is brightness, measured in Lumens (Lm). Fog lights with xenon must have a brightness of at least 1000 lm.
The lineup
Having decided on the criteria, you can choose fog lights for the VAZ 2114, which ones are better and of higher quality. Of the existing PTFs, the following models are most often installed on the VAZ 2114:
- VAZ;
- Autosvet (Kirzhach);
- Bosch;
- Hella;
- Chinese PTF.
None Avtosvet (Kirzhach) headlights are considered optimal in terms of quality and cost, but when purchasing they need to be checked so that the headlights do not turn out to be fake.
If you install Bosch headlights, they must be additionally sealed in the area of the bolts under the glass, otherwise water may get under the headlights. Hella headlights are considered to have the best performance, but they are expensive.
Chinese headlights are cheaper than all analogues. They are mainly used as a replacement for low beams to indicate navigation lights during daylight hours.
What kind of bulbs are best for headlights?
Headlights are an integral part of the car, which help you see the road at night and in different weather conditions. After purchasing a car, many drivers think about what lamps to put in the headlights, since the available options do not meet the emerging requirements. According to existing statistics, every fifth accident at night occurs due to poor performance of the lighting system. Studies have also shown that almost every third car has problems with headlights.
What kind of bulbs are best for headlights?
When designing optics in modern cars, the basic laws of lighting engineering are used. The car owner cannot influence the design of the headlights, but replacing light bulbs and improving the quality of light is within the power of everyone.
What kind of lamps can be installed in the headlights:
- Standard H4. These lamps have a power of 60/55 W. Given the presence of two filaments, they can operate in two modes, that is, show high and low beam. When choosing branded light bulbs, you can count on a long service life and stable glow. Manufacturers are working to improve this type of lamp.
- All-weather. Thanks to the use of unique technology, you can count on contrasting lighting during adverse weather conditions. They differ primarily in the presence of a special coating on the bulb, which gives the light flux a yellowish tint.
- Lamps with enhanced luminous flux. Considering the use of a unique light bulb arrangement, the emission power is increased by 30-60% than that of conventional lamps. There is one significant drawback - short service life.
- Lamps for increased comfort. Using unique technology, the headlights generate a bright white stream of light. This lighting option is very similar to daylight, which is more familiar to human eyes. Disadvantage: light rays are reflected from drops of rain, snow and fog, which impairs road visibility.
- Increased power lamps. They can only be used off-road, as they dazzle oncoming traffic too much.
To begin with, it is important to find out what kind of light bulbs are originally installed in the car, or rather their type and power, since this is the value you should rely on. The most popular is white simple halogen
When purchasing, experts recommend paying special attention to the markings, since each model is designed for a specific type of optics. You should not save on light bulbs, since their quality depends on this indicator
What lamps are best for fog lights?
To provide drivers with more comfortable driving during bad weather, special bulbs called fog lights were invented.
What lamps to put in the fog lights:
There are options designed for installation on the bumper, in which special holes are cut. Light bulbs can also be mounted below the bumper on brackets, but experts consider this option to be unsuccessful. Fog lights can be integrated into the overall optics system
They are placed below the main headlights. It is important to have adjustable light output, which allows you to customize the light beam to suit your own car. In fog lamps, the color of the light output is of great importance. The most acceptable option is the yellow color of the PF
The worst choice is blue light bulbs. Many people are interested in whether it is possible to install LED lamps in headlights, but in the case of fog lamps this is quite the right decision. Thanks to their use, it is possible to obtain normally directional light.
Features of PTF: difference from headlights
So, the main task of fog lights is to illuminate the road in poor visibility conditions (rain, snow, fog, etc.). However, unlike the head light, there are features.
First of all, PTFs must have the clearest possible upper cut-off line, and the beam of light must be strictly below and be as wide as possible. If these conditions are not met, this can become a problem both for the driver of the vehicle and for other road users driving in the oncoming lane.
We also note that even if the headlights have the most powerful lamp, the features, purpose and installation location of such headlights do not allow them to effectively illuminate the road in fog or rain.
The fact is that the head light should illuminate the road as far as possible, not blind oncoming drivers and cover the side of the road. However, in conditions of limited visibility, neither high nor low beam can cope with this task. The reason is that a powerful luminous flux is reflected from moisture particles, causing a cloudy “wall” to appear in front of the driver. This is especially noticeable when the high beams are turned on.
In turn, high-quality PTFs are characterized by lower power, and the optics themselves are made and installed so that the light from the fogs literally “breaks through” moisture and fog. The main secret is that usually the fog does not touch the ground, and the fog lights are as low as possible. On the one hand, fog lights do not shine as brightly and far as the headlights, but in poor visibility conditions they illuminate several meters of the road in front of the car. The main thing is to follow the rules for installing PTF and setting up such optics.
In a nutshell, there are clear norms and standards that must be adhered to during installation. Additional adjustments allow you to set the fog lights so that the light flux falls on the road, does not blind the driver, does not form a “wall” in the fog in front of the car, etc.
At the same time, it is important to understand that cheap and low-quality PTFs, as well as incorrectly installed fog lights of a VAZ or any other car, will blind oncoming cars, but are not able to fully illuminate the road
For this reason, when selecting fogs, first of all, you need to pay special attention to this optics
