Dear car owners! The other day I encountered, at first glance, a simple, but for me not obvious problem: the lights on a VAZ 2114 do not light up. The problem bothers me regularly, a year ago the lights and feet stopped lighting up, I cleaned the contacts and ground, it seemed to help for a while. Then it worsens again! Today only the turn lights are on, that's all. Where could the cause of this unpleasant problem for me be hidden?
Hello! I myself recently dealt with side lights, I had to do a lot of work, but in the end I solved my problem. I'll help you too. First check the lamps, perhaps they are simply burnt out, which is why the side lights do not work (corny, but it happens so often!). Another possibility: the fuse has blown. It needs to be replaced if this is exactly what happened. You need to climb into the mounting block and find F10 there. When it burns out, both side lights do not light up, as well as the license plate lights.
Nothing complicated, I hope you can figure it out. Go ahead. We check the contacts. They could have oxidized, which is why the dimensions do not work. We carry out a visual inspection of all the pads, take them out and put them back in. This is exactly how I solved my problem. I cleaned the contacts and everything was fine. If cleaning does not help, then we check the button itself. It may not work, unscrew it and look. Has the wire fallen off? So it doesn't work!
The most serious reason is a short circuit. But even here you can cope on your own. We take a regular light bulb and connect two wires to it: plus and minus. Next, we take out the fuse and connect the wires from the lamp in place of its contacts. If it starts to burn, it means there is definitely a short circuit somewhere. The only way to find the short circuit is to turn off everything connected to the fuse in order.
Possible causes of malfunction
1. The lamp is faulty. The most common reason why the rear lights on a VAZ 2114 do not light up is that the lamp in the lamp has burned out. This diagnostic sign is relevant if only one gauge does not work. In this case, it is enough to replace the burnt out lamp. 2. The fuse has blown In the case when several dimensions fail at the same time, the reason for this may be problems in the mounting block, to be more precise, in fuse F10. The breakdown of this fuse often leads to the fact that the dimensions of the VAZ 2114 do not light up. In this case, there may also be problems with the lighting of the interior and license plate lights, as well as the dashboard. 3. The contacts are faulty or oxidized. To exclude this cause, you will have to check the entire fuse box. In particular, you should carefully inspect the bus terminals leading to the fuse and relay box. It happens that they oxidize or become detached and therefore make poor contact. Here you will need to disconnect the contacts, clean them and connect them. If after this the rear lights of the VAZ 2114 or 2109 still do not light up or if there is a problem with the front lights, you will need to check the contacts on the headlight unit. Maybe the contacts have oxidized there. 4. The power button has stopped working. The reason why the rear lights of a VAZ 2114 or 2109 do not work may be a completely typical problem: a breakdown of the switch (button) itself. If everything is fine with the button, you should check whether the wire is oxidized. Otherwise, the contact will need to be cleaned. 5. The size fuse is on. If the fuse is constantly burning, it is possible that there is a poor contact in the fuse box or a wire is shorted somewhere. In this case, you should check it: connect a 12 Volt light bulb to its contact (via + and -). If the lamp lights up, it means there is a short circuit somewhere. To find it, you will have to turn off all devices operating in conjunction with this fuse one by one. To do this, you will have to check the wires going to the license plate illumination on the trunk roof. Usually these contacts are frayed and shorted. Another weak point, which is why the dimensions of the VAZ 2114 or 2109 do not work, may be in the cable located at the driver’s left foot on the back side of the wing under the mat. By disconnecting this cable, the license plate and interior lamp lighting are also disconnected. If after disconnecting the loop the lamp on the fuse goes out, it means there is a short circuit in this loop. In this case, you will need to inspect the entire wiring circuit in this node.
TECHNICAL DEVICE
In some situations, it happens that the rear lights of a VAZ 2114 do not light up, in other cases only the front ones, but their structure and operating principle are identical. The side lights are located in the turn signal housing, while the front and rear lights find a place in the headlight housing in the same area. There is a special button for the side lights on the dashboard, which allows you to control them; next to it there are headlight switches and other lighting. When the driver touches this button and turns them on, at the same time the corresponding light on the dashboard lights up, which will not allow the driver to forget about the action taken.
The filament in the light bulb has burned out
The first thought that comes to mind if any light source does not turn on is that the light bulb has burned out. Car lamps are designed in such a way that the low beam filament can burn out while the high beam filament is working. That is, in halogen lamps there are two separate filaments, and the breakage of one of them has no effect on the performance of the second.
To replace a light bulb, it is not at all necessary to contact the services of an auto electrician. All you need to do is follow these steps:
- open the car hood;
- remove the protective cover on both sides of the headlight;
- disable contact group;
- remove the spring clips;
- remove the burnt out light bulb;
- insert new one;
- Carry out all preparatory steps in reverse order.
At the same time, we should not forget to follow some rules:
- It is recommended to wipe the surface of the flask with alcohol before installation, otherwise it may immediately burn due to the presence of greasy or dirty stains;
- Do not touch the flask with unprotected hands, as this may lead to contamination of its surface. This is best done with cotton gloves, but you can also use a napkin or rag.
The low beam of the right headlight does not light up
And here you no longer have to blame the quality and reliability of the parts belonging to this or that brand - it’s just that sooner or later all the parts get tired or they simply exhaust their service life. If one low-beam headlight does not light, it is best to contact an experienced auto electrician at a car service center, but this type of problem can be fixed almost easily on your own. Of course, if you have a little free time and basic knowledge about the operation of electrical circuits.
If your headlights are not on and your low beam lighting is not working, then driving at night with a faulty car is not only prohibited by traffic regulations, but also extremely dangerous. However, sometimes situations arise when the headlights go out during a trip. It is not always possible to spend the night in the car and finish the trip in the morning. We will tell you how to repair the exterior lighting of a car and how to get to the repair.
The right low beam headlight does not light up
The defect is well known to owners of VAZ cars, who sometimes encounter the problem even after purchasing a new vehicle. In this case, most often the headlight on the right side of the car does not light up. In turn, the head light source on the left suffers from a similar problem to a lesser extent.
What to do if the low beam does not light up? The car owner has two solutions - contact qualified specialists to fix the problem, or do the work yourself. When choosing the second option, you must have the necessary tools and knowledge of the car’s design, as well as the features of the electrical circuit. If the high beam lights up normally, but there are problems with the low beam, there may be several reasons:
Car headlights - a guarantee of your safety
Safety behind the wheel plays an important role for every motorist.
In this regard, drivers should remember some factors that ensure their safety. However, the most important thing is that, while driving, you need to clearly see the road along which the car is moving. This is why driving lights are so important. They provide the driver with good visibility in cloudy weather or at night.
Today, the auto parts market offers several types of headlights.
All of them can be divided into several categories.
- Of course, something needs to be said about the fog lights. As the name suggests, fog lights are designed to provide additional illumination of the road during thick fog. Most cars come with a set of fog lights from the factory. Typically, this type of headlight is installed on the front bumper. However, to increase the illumination area, you can purchase an additional set of headlights yourself. Some car brands provide wide lighting angles initially.
- When traveling on unfamiliar roads, the driver must have good visibility in front of him. For this you need a powerful high beam. Here, car spotlights produced by some companies come to the driver's aid. But it is necessary to keep in mind that such headlights are not intended for city roads, since their light can blind other drivers. But for country roads this type of lighting will come in handy.
- On the one hand, we can talk about the uniqueness of high beam headlights. They are typically placed lower than off-road headlights. However, their purpose is to improve road illumination in addition to low-beam headlights. For natural reasons, their light is directed forward, unlike fog lights. Before using high beam headlights, you need to remember that its brightness can blind drivers of cars in front. Therefore, it is better to turn it on when the track is empty.
- An auxiliary lighting system offers several benefits. First of all, it's a great way to stand out. Also, auxiliary lights will help others easily spot your vehicle at night. And finally, they help the driver to navigate well in the dark.
There are other types of headlights on a car. For example, xenon headlights or high intensity discharge lamps. The most important thing is to have a proper headlight leveling and cleaning system to get the most out of your vehicle.
Why may one low beam headlight not light?
Knowing why such a malfunction can occur and how it can be eliminated is useful for every driver, because this can also happen during a long trip, when there are no service stations nearby. Let's try to deal with this problem in all possible ways.
Sometimes the abnormal operation of headlights lies in very unusual reasons. Thus, there is a known case when the owner of a Niva turned off the low beam after he dismantled the headlight cleaners, which had long ceased to function. As a result, for a long time he could not understand why the low beam on both headlights turned off. Only through experimentation did he manage to discover that for the headlights to work normally, the presence of any motor, be it left or right, is necessary. Ultimately, it was necessary to create an imitation of the presence of these elements by closing the contacts going to them.
The low beam headlights don't come on, but the high beams do? Ways to solve the problem
A little subtlety:
The flask should be wiped with alcohol before installation, otherwise it will burn instantly. It is also not recommended to handle the bulb with unprotected hands: there is always some greasy and damp secretions on them, which can damage the light bulb. The best way to do this (replace the lighting) is with a dry cloth or rag.
By the way, if fuses blow with unenviable regularity, it means there is a breakdown somewhere in the wiring. Either wire the entire circuit yourself, or visit a professional electrician - problems with the wires can lead to all sorts of troubles, including a fire.
The right low beam headlight does not light up
Driving with one headlight at night is a violation, as it creates a danger to traffic. Clause 1.5 of the traffic rules. But if you took all precautions (emergency signal) and proceed to the place of parking or repair, then this is no longer a violation. You act accordingly. c clause 2.3.1. Traffic rules As a conclusion, the violation in this case is failure to act to eliminate the source of danger to traffic.
In theory, paragraph 2.3.1. The traffic rules allow you to move, taking precautions, only if OTHER malfunctions occur, indicated in the Basic Provisions. That is, the faults noted at the beginning of this paragraph do not allow you to move at all! This question is even included in the tickets (during the dispute they were even raised, albeit old ones): “When you can’t even move to the parking lot or repair site?”
The left tail light did not work
I already wrote about the problem with the rear left marker. The new relay did not solve the problem. There were two options for a possible problem: - The mounting block is faulty; — The lighting lamp control relay is faulty; I rule out problems with the wire, since I checked the wire - everything is ok. It was possible to solve the problem: - Buy a new mounting block (price ranges from 1500 - 2000 rubles on the Internet.) - Go through the relay, looking for a working one, or find out later that the mounting block is still faulty and look at a bunch of relays and buy a mounting block (1 relay - 150 rubles). — Transfer the wire from the left to the right, but in this case the light control lamp may start to light up. The best option for me was
— Find out which plug on the relay is responsible for what and connect a jumper to it (price 0 rub.). So I took a copper wire and put it on the plug number 9 and 10 (connecting them). Dimensions have arrived. The control lamp does not light up - i.e. there is no error. And everything is good)))))
