Preparatory stage
During the preparation stage, no tools will be required, with the exception of a new windshield wiper. If deformation of the driver is detected due to an impact or collision, then use an open-end wrench set to “17” to unscrew the fastening nut.
To replace the brush:
- We press the latch on the leash.
- We remove the brush body from the hook.
- We put on a new “windshield wiper”.
By analogy, we replace the brush on the right side, at the rear, if the body of the Lada Vesta is a station wagon or hatchback.
How to remove without a puller
Actually, there are a lot of instructions on the Internet on how to do this without any side tools.
The procedure is approximately this:
- Unscrew the nut and remove
- The leash will sit very firmly, especially if the car has a long mileage, say 100,000 kilometers
- We try to remove it, but it won’t come off. I would like to note that it works for some, but judging by the reviews, only 10% of them do.
- WD-40 into the connection so that it acidifies a little. I stood there for about 2 – 3 hours and nothing worked
- We knock on the connection to loosen it a little. This is done with whatever is at hand, I personally get this feeling. Some with a mallet, some with a hammer, others with a wrench and so on. IT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME.
- After all these manipulations, we are trying to pull off the holder, but someone lifts the brush up and pulls it! Some people simply pull the eyelet itself, others put the nut back on and pull the eyelet up and the blade itself down (it turns out like a lever). BUT the damn thing was just sitting there, like it was boiled, and it turned sour, so sour.
- There is one last point. Someone is trying to place a block next to the wiper and pry it with something metal! This is good if you have a body nearby, that is, metal, but I have plastic and it’s almost impossible to do this
Let me say this, some people can remove the leash with their own hands! Others don't. In general, on DRIVE they write that it is better to go to a service station and they will take everything down for you. Now let's move on to the most interesting part.

Conclusion
When choosing and purchasing accessories, check the catalog numbers and sizes.
By default, the machine is equipped with frame-type brushes. This is the simplest and cheapest design. The service life of such wipers is several tens of thousands of kilometers. If you want to get a “quality product,” consider purchasing foreign brands.

1. | Vasily , 38 years old (drive2.ru): the wipers on the Lada Vesta are not bad, enough for 30 - 40 thousand km. It’s a pity that they use a frame type, the design is long outdated. |
2. | Semenovich , 46 years old (prom.ua): I updated the brushes for the first time at around 20,000 km. My comrades advised me to buy foreign analogues. I settled on Bosch, the quality is obvious. |
3. | Alexey , 37 years old (autotoday.com): the original brushes began to rub already at the 8000 km mark, and did not last even a year. I bought similar ones, I hope they last longer. |
4. | Mikhailovich , 48 years old (rozetka.ua): The factory wipers lasted two winters, after which they began to peel off. I believe that the service life is longer than the factory warranty. |
5. | Vladimir , 46 years old, (avtoflit.com): I rarely use the car, mainly on weekends for trips out of town. Two years from the date of purchase, perfect condition, nothing changed. |
6. | Petrovich , 37 years old, (autotoday.com): the frame brushes were worn out for 15,000 km, after which they were replaced with new, similar ones. |
7. | Vasilievich , 43 years old, (drive2.ru): I bought the car second-hand, it’s in good condition, a year and a half old. I haven’t changed anything, all the rubber bands and seals are perfect. |
8. | Mikhalych , 49 years old, (drive2.ru): the car is constantly parked in the sun, there is no garage. The rubber is cracked, they are not cleaned well, I will buy new ones. |

9. | Dmitrievich , 47 years old (prom.ua): The brushes were poorly cleaned from the moment of purchase. I contacted the service station and they refused to replace it because it was not under warranty. I will change it myself. |
10. | Peter , 42 years old, (avtoflit.com): my original windshield wipers lasted six months, then they cracked. I replaced it with a Bosch one, I've been using it for over a year, no complaints. |
11. | Valerievich , 50 years old, (drive2.ru): in order not to suffer with windshield wipers, I immediately bought imported analogues. They serve for the second year, clean well. |
12. | Semenovich , 39 years old, (autotoday.com): I recommend immediately replacing the frame wipers with foreign analogues. The quality of domestic ones is far from perfect and wear out quickly. |

Design of windshield wipers Lada Vesta SV
The windshield wipers are driven by a conventional electric motor, which moves the windshield wipers through a trapezoid.
Vesta is equipped with regular frame windshield wiper blades from the factory. Yes, these are the cheapest options and will most likely have to be changed after the first trip in rainy weather.
Generations of “janitors”: changing the windshield wiper blades on the editorial Lada Vesta
Got my hands on it
The windshield wipers on our Vesta were begging for replacement just as much as the rims , which we finally replaced, but you know how it happens - somehow we never got around to it.
It is unknown when and where our hands would have reached, and how much longer we would have delayed this, if not for the guys from the company representing the RainBlade brand. They suggested that we compare the product they were promoting with several “analogues”, and take such options as to immediately cut off the average and outsiders. The parties agreed that we will not advertise anything and will evaluate the brushes as objectively as possible. In short, we finally decided to do a small test of windshield wiper blades, which we present to your attention today. Frankly, from the very beginning we doubted that we would be able to get an absolutely objective picture and competently build a methodology, even taking as a basis what we had already worked out once - after all, we had already carried out one test of “windshield wipers” . But the results of this test turned out to be very revealing: different brushes from the very beginning of their work (not to mention the later periods of operation) really behave completely differently! So what do we have?
Methodology
At the very beginning of the tests, one of the favorites left them for technical reasons: the Champion brushes provided for the test did not have the required adapter in the kit - surprisingly, they cannot be attached to the common “hook” type mount. We must make a reservation: this is not a drawback - we just accidentally got the wrong model. We will definitely return to the “Champion”, but now there are four contenders left in the frame: Trico Flex FX, Valeo Silencio X-TRM, Bosch Aerotwin and RainBlade Advanced. All frameless, which are considered by many to be the “windshield wipers” of the next generation. And although we cannot fully agree with this - there are still a lot of frame models on the market - it is frameless options that have been seriously gaining popularity in recent years.
We decided in general terms to repeat the method that we tested the brushes a couple of years ago, but for clarity, to make the conditions a little more difficult: in the first test, kefir with a fat content of 2.5% will also be removed in one pass of the brushes, and in the second, the brushes will work without interruption for 30 seconds , but not on glass cleaned with washer, as before, but completely “dry”. We will be tracking two things. Radial strokes - remain in places where the brush does not fully adhere to the glass. Fan strokes - they appear when the brush, while moving, jumps over rather than slides along the surface of the glass. In addition, we will take into account the noise that the brushes make when moving, and a couple of additional factors: the number of adapters in the kit and, of course, the price for a set of brushes 600 and 450 mm long.
To get some kind of initial level from which we can build on, we conducted tests on the “original” brushes that have been on our Vesta for almost a year - and we realized, excuse the frankness, how low we had fallen. Drama aside, it was monstrous. In one single stroke, the brushes somehow smeared the kefir on the glass, and over the next 30 seconds they simply made the fermented milk film more uniform. However, there were several completely unrefined white spots left on the glass, most of them directly in front of the driver's face. Take it off immediately!
Trico Flex FX
1,570 rubles
These brushes, right after the standard ones, seemed like a breath of fresh air to us, although it could hardly have been otherwise - they are, at least, new. And besides, the brushes come with three adapters. I had to tinker a little with attaching them to the standard “hook,” but in general it was not difficult. After a single pass, the brushes did their job very well, but still left a few radius strokes - both on the left and on the right.
And after 30 seconds of continuous “whack”, a thin but clearly visible layer of “dirt” remained on the left side of the glass, dotted with both semicircular radial strokes and small notches - the driver’s brush jumps across the surface, leaving fan-shaped strokes. It is not surprising that the picture is far from optimal in terms of noise. As a result, the situation with deteriorating visibility for the driver is saved only by the washer, while for the passenger the picture as a whole is a little better - the short and elastic right brush, due to good pressure, annihilates most of the abuse that falls on it. Should you pay that kind of money for such a set of qualities? Let's look at the rest.
Valeo Silencio X-TRM
1,640 rubles
After the first participant, it became clear that today would not be easy for anyone, but Valeo as a whole showed themselves very worthy. There are no adapters included, but the brushes are quite easily attached to the “hook” and do not make any noise during operation. However, during a single pass of the brushes, both the left and the right brushes smeared a lot of radius strokes, and some of them remained after half a minute of work.
And besides, after 30 seconds, a lot of fan-shaped strokes appeared - they are so small that the jumping of the brush is indistinguishable to the ear, but these microscopic nicks are visible to the eye quite well. The summary here is this: far from ideal and at the same time the most expensive of the brushes presented, but in terms of the sum of their qualities they are well balanced.
Bosch Aerotwin
1,540 rubles
Some online stores list as many as four adapters included with these wipers, but we didn’t have any in our packages with brushes. However, preparation for installation is simple: the brushes are put on the “hook” mount without any problems, and the quality of the plastic even visually distinguishes Bosch products from competitors. And the brushes work well: just a few radial splashes (namely splashes that fell from above, and did not appear under the brush) after a single pass, which completely disappear after a 30-second “session”, and no “fans”, not the slightest noise.
However, the favorite recognized by many is by no means sinless - after half a minute of dry work, the right brush in the area of its lower tip “rolls” a dense radius stroke and several fan strokes, which are not erased by the left brush and still get into the driver’s eyes. But the problem can be solved quite simply - with a few grams of washer fluid. Because the kefir layer after Boshev brushes remains very thin. Good job.
RainBlade Advanced
970 rubles per set
And finally – RainBlade. Let us note that we have already installed the Select model on Vesta as a “test balloon”, and overall we liked it – the left brush turned out to be a little noisy (at the same time, it threw a certain amount of “working fluid” into the working area of the right one), but the quality of surface cleaning was It turned out to be quite ok. Now we install Advanced and see a very similar, but seemingly optimized picture - just a couple of radius marks (they are visible on the trajectory of the upper part of the left brush), almost no “fans” and at the same time – almost complete silent operation. The brushes also cope well with 30-second dry work. The brushes come with six adapters.
The brand has appeared on the market relatively recently and has already gained a reputation – not a bad one, I must say. You don’t need to be a rocket scientist to understand why: at a price much lower than that of competitors, the brushes provide very similar characteristics - and yet the competitors are from the so-called top segment.
An additional convenience for users is the RainBlade mobile application. It seems like a simple step towards the consumer - help you choose brushes by size and not fool your head with converting inches to centimeters, but only Bosch can boast of such a service. The Android application is available on Google Play by searching for "RainBlade".
Therefore, for now, RainBlade Advanced seems to us to be an excellent option - you can buy brushes comparable in quality to products from famous brands, and pay a lower price than for an “average” one. If the quality is stable, RainBlade can impose a very serious fight on some of the favorites - it’s not for nothing that we noted them back in 2014, when we did a life test of brushes .
We are glad that these brushes remain in our use and will go on our further journey with the Lada Vesta 100 project. Of course, pouring kefir on glass while the car is standing is a nice indulgence, although not useless. Ahead of us are real resource tests of speed, dust, dirt, rain and snow. We will have time to clarify a number of controversial issues. We’ll return to the topic of windshield wiper blades later – it’s the season, you know.

Winter wipers Lada Vesta
For residents of cold regions, there is an opportunity to slightly improve the performance characteristics of factory wipers. This can be done by installing so-called winter wiper blades.
They differ from ordinary ones in the presence of a special cover made of thin frost-resistant rubber and a higher wiper rubber. Due to this, the frame of the wipers does not get cold in the cold, and snow and ice do not stick to the rubber band so much. Such wipers can only be used in winter, since in summer the cover can be damaged by the sun.
I'm stuck - will it help?
Honestly, I had doubts that he would help. The leash really sits so tight, JUST KICK! I unscrewed the nut, connected the puller and began to rotate the bolt (you can put a cloth under the legs so as not to scratch it). AND OH MIRACLE! Everything came off very easily and simply (maybe because WD-40 also helped).
The whole problem is that there is a splined connection between the wiper holder and the rod (of the motor). That is, they sit very firmly. If a little water gets in there, as I think, the whole thing will turn sour.
What is the conclusion - IT'S SIMPLE. DO NOT save only 159 rubles, you will still need this tool (you never know how many cars you will have, and you can also help your friends). YES and if you break something, it will cost BIG MONEY, there is no comparison.
