Any car owner knows what an important role the sizes of tires and rims play in driving a vehicle. All car brands have individual wheel sizes set by the designers when creating the model.
A car wheel consists of two parts: a disk and a tire mounted on it. For the Lada Vesta brand, the domestic AvtoVAZ has laid down the following wheel parameters:
- R15 – disk radius;
- tire width 185mm;
- profile height 65 percent;
- speed index (H) no more than 210 km per hour;
- maximum permissible weight – no more than 560 kg.
Tires for Vesta are produced under the name Art Motion by Belshina. There are several types of tires for winter and summer use. The rubber is soft, highly wear-resistant, low-noise and has excellent contact with the road surface. The Lada Vesta car is equipped with rims for the specified tires.
The basic version uses stamped models with dimensions 6J15 ET50 4×100 60.1. The manufacturer of the wheels is the Krasnoyarsk K&K plant, which, in addition to stamping, produced light-alloy models called Anna-15 for the domestic Vesta car.
What do these letters and numbers mean?
- 6J indicates the width of the product, in inches
- 15 indicates the diameter of the disk, an inch is also taken as a basis
- ET50 – reach, mm
- 4x100 – bolt pattern (PCD), which gives the driver an understanding of the number of mounting bolts (4) located along a 100mm long circle
- 60.1 – diameter of the central hole of the disk (DIA).
More expensive modifications of Vesta have a tire size of 195/55 R16 with a load index of 91H or 91T. These tires are supplied to AvtoVAZ by the German concern Continental. Alloy wheels for these tires are manufactured by the same K&K. They are called Ptalomey and have dimensions 6Jx16 ET50 4x100 60.1.
A car of the subsequent Lux modification can be equipped with R17 wheels from the same manufacturer for an additional fee.
Dimensions of standard wheels
On the conveyor, Vesta is equipped with wheel rims of dimensions from R15 to R16 with a width of 5.5 to 6.5 inches. The ET offset is in the range of 40 - 50. As for the bolt pattern, it is the same for all modifications of the car - 4x100 mm. The diameter of the central hole for landing on the hub is 60.1 mm.
AvtoVAZ recommends using only original wheel models with standard dimensions for its cars. Otherwise, the plant does not guarantee the performance and safety of using such parts.
Parameters of standard bolts
A distinctive feature of this car is the use of bolts rather than studs with wheel fixing nuts. Sometimes it happens that standard fasteners need to be replaced for some reason. In this case, before purchasing, you need to familiarize yourself with the characteristics of the bolts. Otherwise, serious trouble may arise.
For example, bolts with an inappropriate taper can cause spontaneous unscrewing. As a result, the disk can become disconnected while driving. Which threatens a serious accident. As a result, it is advisable to avoid such situations. Choose the right bolts and tighten them well. Standard parameters of standard elements:
- cone inclination angle, degrees – 60;
- edge width, mm – 17;
- thread length, mm – 28 mm;
- thread pitch, mm – 1.1 mm;
- total length, mm – 56 mm.
What kind of disks can be installed?
Choosing the right wheel size for the Lada Vesta is not difficult at all. The markets offer a huge range of products that can replace domestic original ones, because any spare part has its own service life and sooner or later fails. The simplest and most inexpensive stamped wheels, as well as more improved light-alloy models, are suitable for replacement.
Stamped disks are heavier and their performance characteristics are slightly worse compared to cast and forged models.
There are several positive points:
- the strength of the products is higher, they withstand mechanical stress better;
- have low cost;
- they can be restored and repaired.
Lada Vesta fits 16-inch alloy wheels 175/70 and 205/60, as well as larger sizes 175/55 R17 and 195/50 R18. For Vesta SV Cross, 18-inch ones look better.
Unlike their counterparts, forged models have a higher degree of strength and less wear. These wheels are the lightest, which has a positive effect on driving dynamics and fuel efficiency. Along with all the positive aspects, forged wheels have a high cost and not everyone can afford to purchase such a luxury. Therefore, such wheels are extremely rare on Lada Vesta.
The car manufacturer made sure that the buyer did not have a question about where to get the necessary wheels. AvtoVAZ entered into an agreement with the K&K company, now the products of this plant are unified with the Lada Vesta passenger car. When choosing a disk, you need to pay special attention to its markings. The data must fully comply with the manufacturer's recommended values.
Advice. In winter, it is better to install wheels and tires with a smaller width; this will give the car confidence in handling on slippery roads.
Another nuance that is worth paying attention to when choosing the disk you like. Many drivers strive to install wider wheels. In this case, the manufacturer does not bear any guarantee for the consequences, since AvtoVAZ only declares certain sizes. Increasing the disk parameters can lead to a loss of comfort and controllability when driving the car. It is important to set your priorities correctly and choose the best.
Lada Vesta allows you to mount wheels of a wide range of sizes. In this case, you need to pay special attention to turning the wheel so that the tread does not touch the car arch. If you want to install a wider rim, you need to reduce the tire profile height. But this reduces the comfort of driving the car.
Installing larger diameter discs
Large rims not only change the appearance of the car, but also affect its dynamics, maneuverability, and stability on the highway, and not always for the better.
When deciding on their installation, you should know the basic principle - the larger the diameter of the disk, the lower the height of the tire profile, because the size of the outer diameter of the wheel is tied to the size of the wheel arch - when turning, the tire should not touch or rest against anything at all steering wheel rotation range.
Testing the Lada Vesta over the course of a year showed acceptable wheel size options:
17-inch wheels were installed on the Concept version of the Lada Vesta. Technically, this sedan can also be equipped with R18 wheels, but the outer diameter of this wheel (669 mm), as well as the tire width (235 mm), differ significantly from the factory values and cannot be considered in the real conditions of Russian roads due to the too low profile as practical - defects in the road surface will quickly damage both tires and wheels, the price of which, due to their size, is several times higher than the cost of standard ones.
The effect of large-diameter wheels and low-profile tires on a car
- increasing the style of the car and the effectiveness of the exterior;
- improvement of driving qualities - dynamics, road stability, steering sensitivity;
- better “absorption” of potholes compared to a smaller radius;
- with a tire profile from 55 – increased durability of the suspension;
- reducing the braking distance;
- increasing the efficiency of ABS and ESP.
- uncomfortable driving due to sensitivity to road surface defects;
- restriction of use on roads with defective surfaces;
- the need for increased pressure control;
- greater need for kinetic energy at the start - higher fuel consumption;
- higher cost.
Low profile tire pressure
This parameter, ignored by novice car enthusiasts, is very important when operating cars with any tires, and especially with low-profile ones. The required tire pressure is always indicated by the vehicle manufacturer in the operating instructions and in an accessible place on the body, for the Lada Vesta - on the B pillar on the driver's side.
Low profile tires require increased attention to pressure, as insufficient pressure will make the wheels and suspension even more vulnerable to potholes and rocks on the road.
As many years of experience have shown, the pressure in low-profile tires must be maintained 15% higher than that specified by the manufacturer for wheels of the recommended size.
Acceptable tire sizes
Wheel diameter | Width height |
R15 | 175/70 |
R15 | 205/60 |
R16 | 185/60 |
R17 | 175/55 |
R17 | 195/50 |
Knowing certain parameters of tires and rims, the problems of replacing wheels on a Lada Vesta car can be avoided. The manufacturer allows the installation of a large number of dimensions within the wheel diameter R 15 - 17. Some even manage to fit 18-inch models into the car.
It all depends on the desires and capabilities of the buyer. Properly selected wheels are the key to safety on the road. It is advisable to avoid mistakes and installation of unsuitable wheels and tires.

Hello, my dear reader!
I decided to protect the wheels from freebie lovers. The most accurate option is “secrets”. Previously, I only dealt with nuts, but suddenly there are bolts! But what kind of bolts are needed for Vesta? M12 x 1.5. They fit perfectly. Detailed parameters in the photo.
It's starting to get warmer outside, and you need to change your tires from winter to summer. As a rule, I change the whole thing - wheels, winter tires on original stamps, summer tires (original Pirelli) on Chinese-made NZ alloy wheels - 15 in diameter. Vesta inherited from Renault 4 bolts M12x1.5, but Renault was equipped with 14 in diameter, and Vesta uses tires from 15 to 17. For such sizes, I think 4 bolts are not enough, or right next to each other - competitors use five fastening points. I rolled summer tires on alloy wheels for 2 seasons using the original bolts, in the fall, when unscrewing them, I counted the number of threads on which they are held, the result did not suit me, the front wheels were held on by about 4.5 turns, the rear wheels by about 8.5. The number of turns on the front ones turned out to be less due to grooves in the brake discs, and I consider it insufficient. It was decided that the bolts should be selected longer - taking into account the thread pitch of 1.5 and the length of the standard ones (24mm), I decided that at least 7 turns would be enough, so I chose a thread length of 28 mm. The Chinese “Wheel Fasteners”, “Matrix” and the Italian “Bimecc” turned out to be available for order, so I settled on it,
its catalog number is C17A28. (I love Italian things). As a result, it turned out that the front wheels are screwed on with at least 7.5 turns, the rear wheels with about 12 turns. I was afraid that the bolts would touch something because of their length, but everything is fine, they don’t interfere with anything or touch anything.
I cover the bolt caps with caps with catalog number 321601173A, which were purchased inexpensively on AliExpress (the search engine finds them in AliExpress by number), and the emblem of the central wheel cap NZ was also replaced using a Lada sticker.

Lada Vesta rolled off the assembly line in 2015. Belongs to the class of domestically produced sedans. This is where the general ends, and the specific features begin.
How was it before at AvtoVAZ?
Previously, the standard for passenger car tires at AvtoVAZ was within the range of 13–14 inches, rarely going beyond this range.
Wheels are 17 radius.
With the advent of Vesta, a lot has changed. At first we were talking about the fifteenth size, and after some time, the wheel size parameters reached the designations R16 and even R17. Most of all at the start there were attempts to change the car into 15-inch “shoes”, but AvtoVAZ quickly saw the future prospect.
The delights of big wheels
The model fulfilled one important immutable truth.
The larger the diameter, the higher the stability of the vehicle, its handling on the road, and other driving characteristics.
For this reason, an interesting version of Vesta appeared called “Concept”, which had R18 .
Since the wheels are of three sizes and so impressive, the driving characteristics of all are quite decent. Together with Belshina, the Russian Tolyatti manufacturer has worked hard to create special tires for its brainchild. Thanks to its special characteristics, improved driving capabilities are achieved.
Tire sizes
Wheel with standard tire size for Lada Vesta. The arrow indicates the tire size.
- 175/70/R15;
- 205/60/R15;
- 185/60/R16;
- 195/55/R16;
- 175/55/R17;
- 195/50/R17.
At first glance, it may seem difficult to understand such a set of numbers. It must be taken into account that we are talking about common tire sizes provided for the Lada Vesta. Not everything is so hopeless. Let's try to get to the heart of the matter.
Tire sizes
The first digit, for example, in the fourth position is “195”. This means that the width of the tire itself is 195 millimeters, or 19.5 centimeters. The next combination “55” informs about the tire profile and says that we can’t get around without a calculator. To calculate the profile or height of the rubber, you need to calculate 55% from 195 millimeters. 195x55% = 120.25 - the rubber profile is a little more than 12 centimeters.
Everything is clear with the last number - the diameter of the tire rims is in inches. 2.54x16=40.64 – the diameter will be almost 40 and a half centimeters. To be sure, you can measure it with a tape measure. In addition, there are additional notations after the above encodings. It can be written like this: 195/55/R16 88N or 195/55/R16 88T.
Calculation of additional parameters
In this combination, “88” is a special load capacity index equal to 560 kilograms. Provided that we have four wheels, the load capacity will be 2,240 kilograms. So we calculated the optimal load weight on the tires.
The letter “H” after the numbers means that the tire is designed to travel at a speed of no more than 210 kilometers per hour, and “T” indicates that trouble may occur if the speed exceeds 190 kilometers.
Tires with the indicators that we reviewed are produced at the Belshina plant specifically for Vesta. They are distinguished by their moderate softness, are quite wear-resistant, do not make noise, and simply hold the road well. Winter tire models are called ArtMotion Snow.
How to choose wheels for Lada Vesta
In addition to the main sizes of tires and wheels, which clearly indicate their suitability or unsuitability for the Lada Vesta, there are other parameters and nuances, ignoring which when choosing is fraught with subsequent troubles.
Disc offset
This parameter (ET) is a critical characteristic, and when purchasing, it is better to be guided by the ET value specified by the car manufacturer.
Installing wide wheels with a reduced ET value increases the vehicle's stability, but at the same time increases the load on the wheel bearings, the consequences of their destruction on the move are unpredictable.
Reducing the offset is allowed by no more than 5-7 mm.
PCD parameter
This value (bolt pattern) must be observed absolutely when choosing new discs. If the PCD marking is different from the value specified in the machine's operating instructions, it will not be possible to install the discs.
Hub hole diameter (D)
Some manufacturers produce wheels with an oversized hole diameter for the hub - this circumstance allows them to be used using special inserts - centering rings on many car models. Therefore, a larger hole diameter for the hub is an easily solvable problem, in contrast to the opposite situation, when the hole is small.
And yet, there is a common situation when bolted fastening seems sufficient to the car enthusiast, and the use of centering rings is neglected. In this case, at speeds above 100 km/h, wheel runout begins, which can be difficult to diagnose, and pointless balancing costs follow.
Rim width
This parameter is important when choosing rims for existing tires - the use of excessively narrow or, conversely, wide rims distorts the geometry of the plane of contact of the tire with the road surface and worsens the dynamic characteristics of the car. In addition, when driving on snow or dirt, wide tires slip due to low specific pressure on the road, so when choosing the size of tires and wheels, you should take this factor into account.
Popular about chatter
The bolt pattern is not visible; the bolts are hidden behind a decorative plug.
16 6x16'' 4x100 DIA - wheel bolt pattern on Lada Vesta.
Now we've reached the most interesting part. What kind of word is this incomprehensible babble? We are talking about the principle of fastening wheels, in this case, stamped steel or light alloy wheels with dimensions 4x100.
Here “4” is the number of fasteners and bolts. “100” is the diameter of the circle along which the fastening elements are located. The bolt pattern is exactly the same as that of the Renault Logan, which also uses 4x100.
Matching alloy wheels
On the basic configurations of the Lada Vesta, as an additional option, wheels with the following markings 16 6x16'' 4x100 DIA from K&K are installed; in the Lux configuration, alloy wheels from the same manufacturer can be installed.
We are talking about a leader in today's Russian market, which manufactures its products using high-pressure casting. Installing wheels of a different non-standard size will not be difficult, and this method is used quite often.
Wheels from other Lada models, even if the diameters match, will not fit at all , since they have two significant differences:
- the holes for the wheel hubs of Vesta are 1.6 mm larger;
- the diameter of the bolt circle will be 4x98, not 4x100.
Some Kulibins try to bore holes and re-drill. Such manipulations lead to incorrect alignment and runout of the disk during rotation.
Selecting alternative drives
What might be suitable? As has probably already become clear, the best choice is standard wheels and tires, which are fitted, designed, and adapted for this model. If you want exclusivity, then responsibility for the consequences falls on the owner of the car. With such a decision, it is important to carefully calculate everything.
Disc offset
ET=ab/2, where a is the distance between the inner plane of the disk and the plane of application of the disk to the hub, b is the total width of the disk
When purchasing, you need to take into account the width of the element itself, as well as how much it will protrude beyond the dimensions of the car.
If the value is less than the standard value, while maintaining the required width, then stability will be better, but the load on the hub bearings will increase greatly. They will quickly fail and can cause serious damage.
Acceptable values for reducing this indicator are allowed by 5–7 millimeters . Our bolt pattern will be critical, it must be exactly the same, otherwise installation will also be impossible. It will be a waste of time and money.
Unsuitability of disks of other Lada models
Wheel rims of size 185/55/R15 from the AvtoVAZ Grant, Priora and Kalina models cannot be installed on the Lada Vesta, even though at first glance they seem suitable. The diameter of the hole for the wheel hub of these cars is 58.5 mm, that is, 1.6 mm less.
But, even if this hole is bored on a lathe to the required size, the bolt pattern (PCD) of these products is 4x98, not 4x100, and 3 of the four mounting bolts will not be centered relative to the mounting holes, accordingly, the disk will not be aligned with the hub, and its rotation will be accompanied by beating.
conclusions
Installing non-standard tires and replacing wheels for Vesta is quite a difficult issue. If an alternative is found, then it is better to “measure everything seven times” before “cutting it off.” Arguments about the need to improve the style and performance of the car are not decisive. Safety and good road stability are the most correct selection criteria.

About tire and wheel compatibility
If you decide to replace standard wheels and tires on a Lada Vesta, then rely on the full diameter of the wheel. How to do this, using 185/60 R14 as an example:
- A disk with a diameter of 14″ is equal to 14 * 25.4 (1 inch = 2.54 cm) = 355.6 mm.
- The height of the tire profile is calculated as follows: 185*60/100=111 mm. Add up the rim diameter and two tire profile heights: 355.6 + 111 * 2 = 577.6 mm.
In order not to perform such calculations, we post a table of compatibility of tires and wheels for Lada Vesta (left for 195/55 R16, right for 185/65 R15):
Green indicates the minimum deviation of the wheel diameter (up to 3 mm); Orange indicates a diameter deviation from 3 to 6 mm.
Let's summarize which tires are suitable :
- Factory tire sizes: 185/65 R15 and 195/55 R16.
- Recommended tire sizes for R15 wheels: 175/70 R15 and 205/60 R15.
- Recommendations for R16 wheels: 185/60 R16.
- Choose R17 wheels for Vesta to match the tires: 175/55 R17 and 195/50 R17.
- R18 wheels were on the Concept version of the sedan, tires were 235/45. The total diameter of such a wheel is 668.7 mm, which is very different from the factory ones.
Based on the tire sizes selected for Vesta, we determine which wheels are suitable for the rim width:
Standard wheels
A car wheel consists of a disk and a tire, which have individual characteristics.
The AvtoVAZ concern indicates the standard tire size for the Lada Vesta car in the basic configuration - 185/65/R15 88 N (the manufacturer allows the use of T). It means:
- width – 185 mm;
- profile – 65% of 185 mm (120.25 mm);
- The tire must be mounted on a rim with a diameter of 15 inches;
- 88 – load capacity index 560 kg;
- H – speed index, up to 210 km/h (for T – up to 190 km/h).
Such tires under the name ArtMotion for AvtoVAZ are manufactured at Belshina OJSC; the products are characterized by moderate softness and good rubber wear resistance, low noise and excellent road holding. Belshina OJSC also produces tires with identical characteristics in a winter version - the ArtMotion Snow model.
In the basic configurations of the Lada Vesta, these tires are mounted on stamped steel rims of size 6J 15 ET 50 4x100 60.1 (as an option - light alloy models of the same dimensions ANNA-15 from the manufacturer K&K), which means:
- 6J – disk rim width (6 inches);
- 15 – mounting diameter in inches;
- ET 50 – offset 50 mm;
- 4x100 (PCD, bolt pattern) – the disk is secured with 4 bolts located around a circle with a diameter of 100 mm;
- 60.1(DIA) – size of the central (hub) hole.
For top-end configurations of Lada Vesta, the factory installs wheels with dimensions 195/55 R16 91 N (T allowed):
- width – 195 mm;
- profile height – 107.25 mm (55% of 195);
- R16 (mounting diameter of the disk) – 16 inches;
- 91 (load capacity index) – 615 kg;
- H (speed index) - up to 210 km/h (T is allowed - up to 190 km/h).
These EcoContact tires are supplied to AvtoVAZ by the German company Continental. They are mounted on light alloy wheels of the K&K company model Ptalomey-16 with dimensions 6Jx16 ET50 4x100 60.1, the geometric characteristics of which differ only in the mounting diameter - 16 inches.
For basic versions of Lada Vesta, installation of wheels of these dimensions on K&K alloy wheels is also possible as an additional option.
In the Luxe configuration of the Lada Vesta, for an additional fee, it is possible to install wheels even with 17-inch rims of the same model - Ptalomey-17.
For clarity, let’s summarize the correspondence between the sizes of tires and wheels of the Lada Vesta in a table.

If you are going to buy winter tires for Lada Vesta , then try to choose narrower tires. These tires will create more pressure on the road surface and improve traction. Remember that wide tires are more sensitive to ruts in winter. And low-profile tires make the ride less comfortable, because... transfer even the smallest holes to the body.
The smaller the unsprung masses
(this includes a lot of tires and wheels), the better the car will hold the road and accelerate faster. For example, if you put wheels on a car that are 2 kg lighter each, then acceleration to 100 km/h will be reduced by 0.2 seconds.
Attention! Installing larger wheels may lead to problems with ABS and ESP calibration (the systems may not work correctly).

Maximum and minimum possible parameters of non-standard disks
The use of 15 and 17 inch wheels is allowed. It is only important to be careful when choosing tires. It should be noted that the remaining parameters, excluding the width, must be strictly observed (central hole, number of holes for bolts and the distance between them, etc.). Only the width of the disks differs. It is also possible to install the disk at 16.
It is theoretically possible to install larger wheels, but this is not advisable. It is allowed to temporarily install wheels with a diameter of 14 inches. But the use of wheels whose parameters differ significantly from the standard ones for which the vehicle is designed can lead to decreased handling and other problems.
In addition to standard tires, it is allowed to use others recommended by the manufacturer:
for sedan and station wagon:
The installation process does not have any differences. You can use tires with different speed ratings - both T, designed for 190 km/h, and H, designed for 210 km/h.
Before purchasing new disks, it is advisable to familiarize yourself with all the intricacies of selection and installation. If the purchase is made via the Internet, it is worth studying the photo. This way you can determine whether a particular type of wheels is suitable for your car.
The list of the main characteristics of the car also includes the tire size, since this parameter is not only an element of the exterior, but also a factor influencing the handling, dynamics and cross-country ability of the car. Let's consider the size of the wheels of the Lada Vesta sedan, which is increasingly found on the roads.
