Russian manufacturer AvtoVAZ has finally presented its latest Lada Vesta SW 2017-2018 station wagon in a new body (photos, configurations, technical specifications, prices, video and test drive). The car will be produced in two versions: basic and Cross. It is worth noting that the Vesta model has been recognized for some time as the most popular among other domestically produced cars.
The station wagon will be assembled at a prepared production site, which is located in the city of Izhevsk. The Lada Vesta SV 2017-2018 will go on sale no earlier than the fall. Prices for the basic configuration will be set at 570,000 rubles. The Cross version will cost from 800,000 rubles. It must be admitted that such a price tag cannot be called very budgetary for AvtoVAZ.
Options and prices
The Lada Vesta 2022 sedan has a new body configuration and photo prices have not yet become public. But for now you can see how much the cars that are already in dealer showrooms cost.
The “base” is called Classic and is offered only with a 106-horsepower engine and a “handle”. The price tag is 630 thousand rubles, with air conditioning – 37 thousand more, and with a “reno engine” and a CVT – 752 thousand.

Engines
The main power plant is a 16-valve 1.6-liter engine. and a power of 106 hp. under the index 21129. It has 4 cylinders arranged in a row, as well as an electronic fuel injection system. Maximum torque is 148 Nm at 4,200 rpm.

The more powerful engine 21179 was also developed at AVTOVAZ. This power unit has a volume of 1.8 liters and its power is 122 hp. Maximum torque is 170 Nm at 3,750 rpm.

Both engines from AVTOVAZ can run on both AI95 and AI92 gasoline, which sets them apart from their competitors, which manufacturers recommend using only AI95.
Previously, it was assumed that the new product would receive a power plant from the Renault-Nissan Alliance as another engine, but in the wake of import substitution, as well as due to the high cost of the HR16DE-H4M engine, it was abandoned.

Motors and gearboxes
About the Lada Vesta 2022, the latest news does not indicate what specific engine sizes will be installed on this car, and what gearboxes they will be combined with. Now the motors are:
- 1600 “cubes” (106 forces of our own design and 113 forces from Renault);
- 8 liters (122 horsepower, developed by VAZ, country of assembly – also Russia).
An alternative to the five-speed “mechanics” (only for the 113-horsepower engine) is a CVT, which was replaced by a “robot”. By the way, CVT cars began to be produced only last fall.
Gas cars have been discontinued. And fuel consumption has nothing to do with it. It’s just that the state stopped providing subsidies (115 thousand), and without it, the car became, in fact, useless to anyone.

Looking inside the car, you can understand that the interior of the new product has become more ergonomic in comparison with other salons from AvtoVAZ representatives.

Specifications
It is expected that the technical characteristics of the Lada Vesta 2022 will change significantly. This is due to the family moving to the Renault platform. There is logic, and it is one hundred percent. Why keep a separate “trolley” if the concern already has a suitable one at its disposal?
The new Lada Vesta 2022 model year is not the first VAZ car based on someone else. A similar scheme was tested on the XRAY hatchback - it has a lot in common with the Renault Sandero Stepway, including similar dimensions. Even the suspension system is the same, although the settings are, of course, different.
However, the wheelbase is unlikely to increase (the investment in rework would be too large) and the ground clearance will be approximately the same as it is now (17.8 cm). This is more than that of the “Europeans,” but visually it does not turn the car into a crossover.

- a 1.6-liter naturally-aspirated unit with an output of 106 horses;
- 1.8 liter engine with a power of 122 hp.
The transmissions are also familiar. This is a manual transmission or 5-speed automatic transmission.
The all-terrain Cross model differs from the regular version in its suspension and wheel diameter (the higher version has wheels with a diameter of 17 inches). Also, the rear wheels will be equipped with modern disc mechanisms. True, it is expected that this innovation will be available exclusively in expensive versions of the station wagon.
Exterior
Lada Vesta 2022 in a new body, what will it be like? Details of the appearance have not yet been revealed. There aren't even any spy shots! Either the spies are not trying hard, or VAZ is good at keeping secrets, but the fact remains a fact.
Therefore, one can only speculate. The optics will definitely be different. After all, this is one of those elements that catches the eye perfectly. And at the same time, its development and implementation into production is inexpensive relative to the “bodywork”.

It is worth recognizing that recently the Russian company AvtoVAZ has stepped far forward. And we are not just talking about the technical part of cars. All new products of the brand began to look harmonious, high-quality and modern. This model is no exception.
The letters SW stand for Station Wagon class. Typically, representatives of this class are a little boring in appearance, but the Russian station wagon will give a head start not only to domestic, but also to imported competitors. There are sporty features, original stampings on the sides, and modern design.
Of course, the interesting exterior is the merit of the chief designer of the Russian company, Steve Mattin, who previously developed cars for Volvo. This is noticeable, because the Swedish brand is famous for its original and stylish station wagons, which are especially loved in this European country.
Looking at the appearance of the Vesta SW, one immediately notices the elegant roof, smooth lines and neat rear part of the body. The C-pillars slope slightly towards the windshield and there is a darkened area nearby. It looks very stylish and original.
The stern is long with a sloping roof. At the end there is a small spoiler, which, of course, serves more of a decorative function, although at high speeds it restrains air flows.
In conclusion, it is worth saying that the regular version of the Lada Vesta SW 2017-2018 in the new body is a typical representative of its class, but the Cross model is more reminiscent of a crossover.
Exterior appearance of the sedan
The same features are certainly present in the four-wheel drive unit, but they are emphasized by adjustments and updates. The sloping hood with relief stamping on its sides, as well as the bumper, reminiscent of an X-shape, deserves attention. Great promise lies precisely in the spectacular headlights, which have acquired a narrowed appearance. Below in the bumper, under a simple but strict radiator grille, there is a wide air intake. Fog lighting is installed along the lower edges of the front bumper, based on point diodes.
The rear bumper does not particularly attract attention, but fits harmoniously into the overall exterior design of the new Lada. The window openings are made in a neat style and have virtually no protrusions, which does not interfere with the lateral view of the roadway from the driver and front passenger. I would like to say a special thank you to the manufacturer for the sufficiently high ground clearance, which did not play a bad role on the beauty of the vehicle.

The estimated cost of transport starts at 560 thousand rubles and becomes more expensive depending on the configuration. A distinctive feature is that the car is produced exclusively with gasoline power units. Their power in the Lada model year will be only 106 hp, which differs from the previous version. Manufacturers believe that the car will be equipped with a five-speed manual transmission and an automatic transmission. It is worth noting that in the review and in reality, fuel consumption data differs by more than two liters, so it is very difficult to understand whether this car is beneficial for driving in different modes. In total, three trim levels are offered for a beginner: Classic, Luxury and Comfort.

It is immediately worth noticing some defects in the interior design.
Despite the aesthetics of all the finishing, the interior space suffered greatly. The rear seats can comfortably accommodate only two passengers, let alone a third. What will happen if child safety seats are installed there? Of course, the material of the seats is very attractive and does not stain, but the armrests and headrests seem completely uncomfortable. The plastic used to decorate the doors remains as rigid as before, but some places have changed the design. There is something to be said for the dashboard and dash. Thanks to the updates, now all the important parts (speedometer, tachometer, gasoline gauge) are placed in one hole under the sloping visor.
