Lifan X50
- The pseudo-off-road hatchback Lifan X50 has been on sale since the summer of 2015. Built on a common platform with the Lifan Celliya sedan. There is no all-wheel drive version.

Externally, the Lifan X50 is quite good, although there is a bit of plagiarism: you can feel the motifs of the Opel Mokka crossover in it. It's a pity, the dark gray color neutralizes the nuances of the body lines. The interior is also fifty shades of gray. Only the scarlet instrument cluster catches the eye.
A beautiful wrapper does not guarantee a tasty filling. Ergonomics will appeal only to fans of the aforementioned sensational novel who prefer an original pastime. The leatherette-covered driver's seat is set high and does not have a microlift. The side support rollers are too close together and rest unpleasantly on the lower back: after half an hour, the back begs for mercy. For drivers over 170 cm tall, part of the view is blocked by the ceiling falling towards the windshield.
The steering wheel has a good cross-section, but is trimmed with too slippery plastic, and the audio system control buttons are located almost on the rim—I accidentally pressed them a couple of times. Against this background, you forgive other strange decisions. For example, blind seat heating buttons at the end of the cushion or handwheels for adjusting temperature and airflow intensity sitting on a common axis.

In Kalina production, the body is mostly galvanized, like the XRAY hatchback. For both Kalina and X Rey, the same technology was used during painting, and the body itself underwent mandatory processing.

But this masterpiece of the Volga automobile manufacturers is even more interesting and mysterious. Back in 2012, it made a splash at the Moscow Motor Show. And a wave of rumors began, commenting even on its name, future cost and equipment.

Design and interior
The presented concept car has an ultra-modern design, and this is clearly visible in the photo. The color is chosen like most Renault Duster cars, due to the arrival of the French at the plant. We will not describe what is already visible in the picture, so that the reader has the opportunity to form his own opinion about the body design.
The interior is also unusually good for a domestic car and is decorated with the most modern materials. The seats are leather, but there are conflicting data on the finishing of the panel: some claim that it is also covered in leather, others that it is made of high-quality glossy plastic. Which version is clearly closer to reality, you can’t do it right off the bat.
But we can or cannot find out when the price for this car becomes known. After all, its fluctuations in the minds of the masses amount to an amplitude of a million rubles. Some people expect that it will start from 500 thousand rubles, while others have heard that the development cost 1.5 million rubles.
Technical characteristics, engine range and gearbox that will be installed on this car are kept secret. It is planned that mass production will be launched only by the end of 2015. The car arrived at the auto show with an electric motor that accelerated it up to 8 km/h.

Rather, it is a hatchback raised above the roadway. The engine lives up to its stated power—acceleration is brisk. It's a pity that after 4000 rpm his enthusiasm sours. The gears are selected well, the shifting mechanism is quite accurate - no problems. And everything is not bad with the brakes (Lifan was the only one in the test with rear disc mechanisms). The mediocre information content of the drive prevented us from receiving a higher rating.
The X50 is not afraid of broken roads, except that the vibrations transmitted to the steering wheel are too much. But you need to be careful: the engine oil pan and the gearbox housing are not covered with anything. And actively turning the steering wheel is contraindicated - during the test, the front wheels repeatedly clung to the arches.
In general, everything is more or less. With the exception of sound insulation, it seems to be completely absent. At any speed, be it 40 or 140 km/h, you can hear absolutely everything except your own voice. The engine growls, the gearbox shift mechanism clicks. But a pebble flew out from under the wheel into the arch and... I think I heard it plop onto the road.
Conclusion? It is quite possible to consume Chinese cars, seduced by colorful packaging and a pleasant price tag. This might work.
Orange mood
Disadvantage #5: TIGHT PEDAL UNIT
It’s hard to accuse anyone, the author of these lines, of being overly critical of the products of the Volzhsky Automobile Plant, but even he whined here - and now we see that it’s not unreasonable: quite often owners name this feature among the disadvantages of the car. The pedal assembly, as AVTOVAZ designers admit, simply transferred to X-Ray from its French relatives on the platform, is perceived as quite cramped, especially in the area of the gas and brake pedals. In large-sized winter shoes, mixing up the pedals is not particularly difficult. It is especially sad that AVTOVAZ will not finalize the design - unification.

Lada Kalina Cross

What a review! Huge windows, impressive mirrors and a high seating position allow you to effortlessly control the situation around the car and not fork out for parking sensors.

Driving does not evoke any vivid emotions. One hundred and six forces are almost completely dissolved in the transmission - the VAZ robot is thoughtful during shifts. However, this is a characteristic feature of all transmissions of this type. A modern automatic or dual-clutch transmission would solve the problem, but it is fantastically expensive.
And in terms of acoustic comfort, the Cross is far from ideal: the engine is well insulated, but the “noise” of the arches and bottom is unimportant, and extraneous sounds are heard through the door seals.
In general, you won’t get any fervent drive from Kalina. But how good it is in our “directions”, be it broken asphalt or a primer! Easily “smoothes out” small irregularities and allows you to confidently rush through the pits. I wish I could “untie” the steering wheel from the road! He, like Lifan, receives noticeable shocks.
As you understand, Kalina is also not without its shortcomings, but it leaves a slightly more subtle aftertaste, which is well worth the additional payment of 20 thousand rubles. And if you take a car with a manual transmission, then the price difference with Lifan will completely disappear.

Experience in operating cars: my father’s IZH-412, still with an iron torpedo, and he already has his own car, Kalina, for more than 5 years.
I took Kalina to the next maintenance and decided at the same time to see what the dealer had.
I looked closely at the news and took the robot for a test drive. There was also a minimally equipped hrey in the cabin, I sat in it and almost had an attack of claustrophobia, all the surfaces were vertical, black, the glazing line was high, as if I had climbed into a closet. The tidy, compared to the West one, also seemed frivolous. But at the same time, the quality of the plastic in the cabin is good, reminiscent of a SLR camera, and overall the car makes a good impression.
After a couple of months I decided to update my car.
I was waiting for the release of Chevy Niva 2, but it didn’t happen.
I was waiting for the West station wagon 1.8 by the fall, but that didn’t happen either.
I took a ride on the rapid, the machine was ok. But in an acceptable configuration it cost more, and that’s with 90 hp. engine,
besides, the dealer could not clearly say about the delivery time, and in stock there were either maximum saucepans with a machine gun, or completely empty ones, there weren’t even provisions for pots (and you look on the street, people actually take these pans).
I haven’t looked at a used one, I can’t drag it from an auction, and I have no desire to deal with hucksters.
I also happened to take a ride in a new Logan taxi, which I liked more than the Ford Focus in the same taxi, and the platform, as you know, is one with a yardarm.
In general, the choice finally fell on the yard. I also rode it. At maximum speed, the interior was no longer dull, plus the plant threatened to release the 1.8 version with fur.
I looked and read reviews and comments, they were drug-fuelled - like “Porskaen is better”, “why is it more expensive than 300 thousand”, but mostly positive.
I was aiming for the maximum, but such cars were not expected in the next 1-2 months, and since I was going to buy with a trade-in + credit, I wanted to close the deal before the end of the year. I also wanted a beige interior, but they only had those since 1.6.
The suite was supposed to arrive in 1-2 weeks. I came, looked, liked everything, made an advance payment. A few days later I went to register. It cost about 700 with a trade discount.

On the way from the salon, I saw everyone in the traffic somehow driving slowly, even the Markovnik trudged along sadly - I thought there was some kind of accident ahead, looked at the speedometer and realized what was what)).
Driving around the city in 3rd gear it goes from 40 to 70, you don’t need to quickly tuck in 2nd or twist until it rings before 4th. I got used to the gearshift lever instantly, the moves are short but clear - I never missed a beat in speed.
The handle is comfortable, allowing both a regular overhand grip and a joystick grip. The clutch picks up smoothly, almost like an automatic. If you don’t specifically set yourself such a goal, then moving off with a jerk or slipping will not work. The gap itself during which the clutch engages is long, you let go, it seems that everything is off, you drop the pedal, and it still makes a jerk, i.e. Before this, it was not completely released. When starting uphill, the anti-rollback is activated and holds the brake in both forward and reverse gears.
I tried handsfree, it attaches easily, shows contacts and calls on the radio (NOT multimedia).
I installed an alarm with auto start, it shows the temperature in the cabin and the engine.
The engine cools down slowly; on Kalina, after an hour of parking, it showed the street temperature. I don’t know what this is due to, better thermal insulation or a different location for installing the sensor. The lack of a temperature indicator on the dashboard is annoying!
The electrics are well made; when the starter is turned on, other consumers are turned off - music, stove.
