The headlights of the serial Lada Vesta sedan have more than once become the subject of controversy and discussion. Even at the early stages, the presence of LED optics on the new car was stipulated. However, as the management of the Russian auto company subsequently stated, the use of innovative technologies could significantly affect the prices of the LADA Vesta, which, of course, was not part of the overall plans to create a budget car.

LED technology has found its application only in daytime running lights. This gave the car some style, but did not satisfy the desires of fans of a good domestic sedan. Vesta received standard head optics, which caused a significant number of not entirely flattering reviews.

The “Big Test Drive” program, represented by its presenters Rustam Vakhidov and Sergei Stillavin, continues to surprise its viewers with new information. In Barnaul, the optics of the Lada Vesta were tuned. It is worth recalling that the former head of AvtoVAZ, Bo Andersson, was an ardent opponent of all modifications to new AvtoVAZ cars. But as they say, there is no limit to perfection.

Two guys Alexander and Pavel, who represent a small design bureau “KUB”, set out to use LEDs on new domestic cars. The design bureau has been working with these elements for many years and has many projects. One of them is an LED zebra crossing for pedestrian crossings.

To create lighting fixtures for Vesta, the guys purchased standard block headlights that are installed on serial sedans. Using their own know-how, they managed to achieve what was beyond the power of Avtosvet, which works on AvtoVAZ optics.

Vesta front optics tuning

The front block contains the following lighting elements:

turning lights PY21W;
daytime running lights 5W;
low beam - H7;
long-range lighting - H1;
marker lamps - W21.

To replace the front light, the algorithm is as follows:

Open the hood of the car.
Unscrew the cover on the rear and front lights.
Disconnect the wires.
Take out the cartridges; they are in the spring retainer.
Replace the light element and reassemble the headlight.

The creators of the new optics did not tell all the intricacies of their work. But the effect is amazing. The car is equipped with fifth generation optics. Option 5.4.6 has been developed for mass production. The headlights of the tuning Lada Vesta sedan provide illumination no worse than the best foreign manufacturers.

It should be recalled that to simplify production and reduce financial costs, standard units of serial machines are used. You just need to install the LED devices themselves. They resemble ordinary lamps, only a lens is placed in the front part, and a radiator is placed in the back, which absorbs heat from the semiconductor elements. The luminous flux distribution is approaching ideal.

If on standard optics it is 30 by 20, then new devices show 30 by 25. And this is not the limit. So far, there are problems with beam adjustment, but this is due to the high pace of development and the lack of bureau capacity. However, this problem is easily solved.

“CUBE” took an original approach to the daytime running lights. Now the VESTA inscription glows above them. The decision came unexpectedly. A piece of plexiglass with a milled logo was placed above the diodes. Lada Vesta, whose optics have been so transformed, has received another “trick” of its own.

The optics themselves deserve high praise. As the test drive showed, the brightness is quite enough. At the same time, visibility during poor visibility has improved. The headlights of the Lada Vesta easily penetrate rain and fog. This indicator is one of the problems with the standard optics of domestic cars. Alternative optics of the Lada Vesta do not create the glare that is inherent in xenon lamps. This is a significant advantage that any motorist on a night trip will appreciate.

The new headlights come with another nice option. This is side lighting. It illuminates the road on the sides of the car and is useful when parking or turning around in the dark. The turn signals have remained unchanged for now, but it's a matter of time.

Do Lada Vesta headlights need tuning?

There is a variety of tuning for Lada Vesta headlights, but each driver decides for himself whether the quality of lighting needs to be improved. The car's original halogen lamps have a service life of up to 1000 hours and an illumination level of about 1500 lumens.

But there were some downsides:

the lamp gets very hot;
Do not touch halogen lamps;
optics are susceptible to voltage surges.

Financial issues regarding LED optics on LADA Vesta

The answer to the question about the cost of the LED version of the optics of the new VAZ sedan was unexpected. As it turned out, standard block headlights for Vesta cost about 15,000 rubles. According to preliminary estimates, the LED version will cost 20–25 thousand rubles.

In this case, practically no changes will be required in the car itself. For comparison, LED optics on a Lexus cost 240 thousand rubles. As the test drive presenter joked, two of these headlights will make Vesta.

At the moment, the creators of the Lada Vesta LED optics are negotiating with representatives of the Russian auto giant. "CUBE" does not have the same advertising as HELLA and other giants of lighting technology. Nevertheless, things are moving forward, reviews are being prepared, etc. It is quite possible that soon all Ladas will switch to a new standard of lighting technology, which will further increase their competitiveness.
