The paint is specially designed for painting the dashboard in a matte black color (It turns out one-on-one like on a BMW. Experts point out that you should not cut off the protruding parts yourself or build up additional walls. This is due to the fact that when developing a factory panel, certain calculations are carried out to make it safe for both the driver and passengers.

Motor modification

Tuning the VAZ-2114 engine can consist of both partial improvements and fundamental modifications. If we consider the first option, then it is the one that is most popular among car owners. There are relatively few opportunities to increase the power of the VAZ engine, since there is no turbocharging.

The most that can be achieved is the regulation of fuel supply and ignition timing (the gain in performance is no more than 8%). Chip tuning of the VAZ-2115 gives slightly better results. As practice shows, its fastening scheme does not differ from the original. The easiest thing is with the gearbox: you can either not change it at all, or limit yourself to changing a few parts. It is somewhat more difficult with the clutch, which should preferably be turned on a lathe. The ideal fuel line is from the 12th model. When you install the engine removed from the Lada Priora car, start by installing the receiver (you will need a jack). Install longer wiring for the injectors and install high voltage wires from the 12th model. This completes the installation of the new motor.

However, something else can and should be done. Namely: adjust the injector. It is undesirable to invent something or experiment again. Find a ready-made program for the mode you need, upload it to the car’s electronic system and stop there. More subtle settings are also possible, but they should be done by professionals.

The price of vinyl film ranges from 300–600 rubles, depending on the type and quality. As for Alcantara, its cost is comparable to genuine leather, so you won’t be able to save on artificial suede.

High-quality high-temperature glue will cost you 1.5 thousand rubles per jar. We do not recommend using cheap superglue or Moment glue: you will be bothered by an intrusive smell, and the coating itself will deteriorate if the car heats up too much. Threads for leather products are sold at a price of 400 rubles per spool. Let's assume that you already have a hair dryer and a sewing machine at home, which means there will be no additional expenses for equipment.

Thus, we receive from 1.5 to 7 thousand rubles for the material, plus 2 thousand for consumables. As you can see, even when choosing expensive leather, you can spend 10 thousand rubles. In the salon, the price tag for this procedure starts from 50 thousand rubles.

How to easily update the “tidy” of a VAZ 2114

Upgrading the 2114's dashboard is actually not as complicated as it might seem at first. Buying such a “device” is quite simple. You should consider what options owners can use to update their VAZ 2114 wardrobe (examples in photos and videos).

Tuning options for the VAZ 2106 torpedo

There are several options for tuning a torpedo:

You can replace the standard torpedo with a new one from domestic or imported cars. It is installed entirely with devices. Since the parts in the “classic” are interchangeable, panels from the VAZ 2105, VAZ 2107 are suitable for the “six”;
cover the torpedo with liquid rubber. This option is labor-intensive, and such a coating is short-lived and will begin to crack over time. It will need to be updated periodically. The big advantage of this method is its low cost;
reupholstering the dashboard with vinyl film, flock, automotive leather or leatherette. This method of improvement is the most effective, but scrupulous and time-consuming. To carry out the work, it is necessary to dismantle the torpedo and take measurements from it. It is best to make a pattern from non-woven fabric. Using the pattern, cut out the component parts. Sew all the pattern pieces together with strong threads. It is advisable to work carefully so that folds do not form on the material, which will spoil the appearance. Then treat the surface of the console with hot glue and pull on the cover. And, using a hair dryer, glue the cover.

If the folds of leather formed on the cover after putting it on the dashboard cannot be smoothed out with your hands, you should use a rag soaked in hot water. To avoid burning your hands, this operation should be performed only with thick rubber gloves;

Care should be taken to ensure that drops of glue do not fall on the front side of the leather. If this happens, you need to let the drop dry and carefully cut it off with a knife. And the stain remaining on the skin can be erased with a regular eraser.

Step-by-step instruction

Now you can start working directly on the old and worn-out dashboard, turning it into a new and nice panel in the interior of your vehicle.

Since each machine has its own nuances, I will not focus on some of the subtleties of dismantling. Just look at the manual and do everything according to the manufacturer's recommendations.

The step-by-step process for re-stretching a torpedo can be described something like this:

First, the torpedo itself is removed. It will need to be cleaned using fine-grained sandpaper;
After cleaning, you need to cover the dismantled element with masking tape;
Next, a layer of paper intended for the pattern is applied. Outline it with a marker. In all directions there should be a margin of about 15 mm in the length of the material;
If you use leather, then remove the created pattern from the torpedo, apply it to a piece of material, and outline the borders with a marker;
Appropriate pieces of leather are cut out to the desired shapes and sizes;
The 15 mm left as a reserve needs to be folded, after which the cover is sewn with a machine;
The panel that you previously cleaned now needs to be degreased. Once the degreaser has dried, go over a coat of primer;
After the primer has dried, apply a thin layer of glue to the panel;
Another layer is applied to the back of the leather workpiece;
The cover is carefully pulled onto the panel. Using a hair dryer, straighten out all the resulting wrinkles;
Now you can use a hairdryer to go over all the surfaces of the dashboard so that the glue is fully distributed and set.

Wait for it to dry completely, cut off all excess, after which you can safely return the torpedo to its place, following the reverse sequence of dismantling.

Before you apply any adhesive, primer or degreaser, make sure it is safe for the trim material and panel you are using.

I can’t say that it’s incredibly difficult to pull a torpedo. Much depends on how complex the shape of the panel is. Sometimes you can just pull it over with a solid piece, cutting out all the excess. In more complex situations, patterns are made, and blanks are created from them.

Some use rubber material, others prefer natural leather, while others believe that the future belongs to Alcantara and eco-leather. When choosing a material, be sure to take into account its performance characteristics, possibilities of use, as well as ease of further maintenance and use. Nobody bothers you to use ordinary fabric as a basis. But in the case of a dashboard, practicality will be at an extremely low level. Something more universal and adapted to active use is better.

But at the same time, carpet is positioned as an effective thermal insulation material. It also does an excellent job of suppressing noise. It is not surprising that carpet has gained the greatest popularity among owners of domestic cars. A good autocarpet is not subject to shedding, it does not fade, and its operation is extremely simple and straightforward. If you are re-stretching a torpedo for the first time, it is better to start with the carpet. The material forgives mistakes and inaccuracies.

Leather substitute ranks second in popularity for upholstery materials for car interiors and panels. It is cheaper than genuine leather, but superior to vinyl and velor.

Only genuine leather and Alcantara can beat leatherette in price. If the quality is good, leatherette is in no way inferior to leather in appearance and performance characteristics. But in terms of mechanical stability, it is not the best example. The material will not absorb noise and its thermal insulation properties are low.

Next up is vinyl film. For some reason, some old-school motorists still think that this is a new, unique and exotic material. Vinyl should be used when there are no problems with sound insulation and thermal insulation in the cabin. The vinyl used in the interior is much softer than body vinyl. It is extremely simple to process and easy to work with. The service life is quite low. I strongly do not recommend buying cheap films.
