There are practically no differences in the rear suspension of the Lada Priora compared to the VAZ 2110. In a more modern car, only new shock absorbers are used. Therefore, all the “sores” of the chassis went to the Lada Priora from the “Ten”. The table shows possible rear suspension problems and how to fix them.

Replacement procedure

To make a replacement, it is not necessary to send your hatchback to a service station. All this is easy to do yourself at home, the main thing is that you have the tools and your hands grow from the right place.

For such an event you will need:

  • “shoe” for blocking the wheel;
  • jack;
  • keys at 6, 19, 22;
  • rust remover;
  • mount.
  1. Lock the front wheel.
  2. Open the trunk and move the trim on any rear “glass” at the top fixation point.
  3. Using a 22 wrench, release the rack mount, holding the rod with a 6 wrench.
  4. Raise the body with a jack on the side where you plan to replace the element.
  5. Once under the car, use the 19th key to unscrew the fastening of the lower part of the rack. There it is attached to the rear beam. If the process does not go well, then you will need a rust remover - the nut has oxidized. Wait until it gets wet for about 20 minutes and continue working.
  6. After unscrewing the nut, remove the freed bolt and remove part of the rack from the fixing bracket. This process may require a pry bar.
  7. Remove the shock absorber completely.
  8. Go back to the trunk and remove the support washer and strut pad.
  9. Remove the spring, bushing, boot and quiet block from the strut in sequence. Check the latter for damage. It is better to replace silent blocks at this moment, so as not to repeat the entire event again later.
  10. Examine the spring for cracks and other signs of deformation. As soon as you find one, rest assured that it’s worth replacing.
  11. Reassembling the rack occurs in the reverse order.
  12. It is worth tightening the connections completely only after the body has lowered.
  13. It is worth tightening the shock absorber mounting nuts 100-200 km after replacement.

As you can see, everything is extremely simple and you don’t need to spend extra money at the service station, just on new parts. Next time you can repeat this procedure faster, but the first time it’s better to slow down and do it right.

Today, the Lada Priora car is one of the most popular models in Russia. This simple, laconic and at the same time elegant, dynamic car has gained widespread respect due to its practicality, endurance, and ease of use. The car, which appeared on the market back in the late nineties, more than once underwent serious reformations, which concerned both the appearance and its technical component, and to an even greater extent.

Noise or knocking in the rear suspension of Lada Priora

The shock absorbers are faulty Replace the shock absorbers The shock absorbers are loose or the shock absorber lug bushings and rubber bushings are worn Tighten the bolts and nuts, replace worn or damaged parts Wear of the rubber bushings of the rear suspension arms Replace the rubber bushings of the rear suspension arms Settlement or breakage of the spring Replace the spring Knock from “breakdown” of the suspension due to the destruction of the buffer compression stroke or rear suspension overload Replace damaged buffers, unload the rear suspension of the car

Analogs

Not only sports stubs can be installed as a replacement for the original racks. There are good analogues for the price of VAZ racks:

They all have about the same price - about 200-300 rubles. And SS20 struts can cost 3-4 times more, because they change the driver’s perception of his car - the car becomes more maneuverable, holds the road better, making it more difficult to resist the temptation not to press the gas pedal to the floor.

But it’s too early to dream about racing until one good measure is taken to prevent chassis failure in the Priora. In addition to the “eggs,” the bushings suffer, crack, and wear out. They make it so that during maneuvers the stabilizer twists in different directions, and when they wear out, play is formed in the stabilizer bar. This can be felt because the car wobbles more during acceleration and braking on turns.

Let us remind you that on modern Lada Priora, extraneous noise can come from the gearbox.

Basic faults

A beam can fail for two reasons:

  1. displacement from place;
  2. mechanical damage (most often a crack).

When a crack occurs in the lever, the torsional rigidity of the body decreases. This parameter determines the degree of safety, as well as the position of the parts. The fact is that with normal body rigidity, which is laid down during design and obtained after the final stage of car assembly, absolutely all components and assemblies (down to the bolts) are in place, they have a maximum permissible vibration amplitude. For example, the suspension “swallows” potholes - the parts actively move, and people in the cabin may not even notice the rolling.

If you increase the torsional rigidity of the body by adding lateral and longitudinal stability beams to the car, nothing bad will happen - the amplitude of vibrations will decrease, a pleasant plus will be the fact that the vehicle will become quieter, there will be less rattling. When the torsional rigidity of the body decreases, there may not even be any talk about comfort.

In addition to the fact that you will most likely have to get used to unpleasant sounds, there will be increased wear and tear on small parts. When a lever cracks, everything that is attached to it begins to move with greater amplitude. The problem is temporarily solved by welding, but this only postpones the solution to the problem for some time. Craftsmen recommend changing the beam.

Mechanical damage manifests itself in the connection of metal with rubber in the Priora levers - when wear reaches its climax, the rubber cracks and peels off. Because of this, a knock occurs in the front and rear suspension, and the car wobbles along the road.

The displacement of the beam on the Priora is manifested in the fact that the mounting points of the suspension parts, brake system, and wheels also shift, and the transmission of any force - acceleration or braking, passing through bumps, holes - will be unusual and noticeable. The car's controllability will decrease.

Displacement of the lever can occur after an accident or falling into a hole - in this case, the wheel alignment may be disrupted, the steering linkage may be knocked down, and other serious damage to the suspension may occur. It is prohibited to drive a car with such damage. For your safety and the safety of other road users, it is recommended to call a tow truck to deliver the car to the repair site.

Why change silent blocks

Before you begin replacing the silent blocks of the rear beam on the VAZ 2110, you need to figure out why a similar procedure is being carried out in general.

In reality, it is not always silent blocks that cause car problems. But there are situations in which repairs should be performed immediately.

  1. When traveling, the tires begin to squeak. If the silent blocks are out of order, they cannot move at once with the wheels, they are inferior in rotation speed, which is why noise appears.
  2. Knocks are heard from the rear of the car.
  3. The car is difficult to control, the rear end constantly wobbles, and it is difficult to take turns.
  4. There is uneven wear on the rear tires; they lose their quality faster than the front tires.
  5. In some cases, tires are deflated, although there is no damage.

Standard bushings and struts

Everywhere you can hear the words that the standard stabilizer struts on the Priora are almost instantly replaced. But are they as bad as they actually say? The suspension of cars of the Prior family was modified after the “tenth” family - its service life has increased, and it allows it to go through bumps and holes more smoothly. The survivability of the suspension is reflected in the reviews of the owners - the Priora is more praised because it performs well in rural areas with original spare parts.

The stabilizer in the Priora is very different in size from the same part in the “tens”. But you won’t even be able to damage your car unintentionally. They may not be distinguishable visually, but the article number for the stabilizer link for the Priora 2170 contains the numbers 1118 or 0118, so it will not be easy to confuse them. The set for the “tenth” family is cheaper, but “the miser pays twice”!

The new generation, Priora, is a collection of the best tested developments of AvtoVAZ. Of course, compared to the SS20, the standard bushings and struts for the Priora have a shorter service life, but they cost “like originals.” They are stiffer than SS20, but over a period of multiple strut and bushing replacements, they will cost less to replace than SS20. Original parts are suitable for Priora. With their purchase, there will be no fear that instead of good lubrication of the joint there will be technical Vaseline.

Repair of the Priora suspension should always be carried out on time so as not to aggravate the condition of the car. Remember that stabilizer bushings are just a consumable item that can be replaced, but a total repair of the car’s chassis is already a big expense and a larger amount of work. Don't be lazy and take care of your Priora, check the suspension on time!

Selecting New Items

To replace and ensure reliable operation of the car, you need to purchase excellent silent blocks. It’s easy to choose them if you know certain aspects:

  • For the VAZ 2110 model, elements with catalog number 2110 2914054 are suitable. They have the required external diameter corresponding to this specific VAZ model;
  • Do not try to purchase a silent block from a 9 and install it on your 10. Nothing will come of similar events, no matter what anyone says;
  • Make sure of the quality of the products. Low-grade silent blocks have flooded the market, but their service life leaves much to be desired. Excellent parts made from quality materials that can withstand extreme loads and temperatures.
