At the International Moscow Motor Show, held from August 24 to September 4, 2016, the AvtoVAZ concern, among 6 concept cars, presented the Lada X-Ray Sport model - proof of the seriousness of the concern's further intentions to develop the serial line of the LADA family, in particular in sports direction. The presentation of this car is the last step in preparation for mass production of this model, expected for several years.
The price range of the car was not stated by AvtoVAZ representatives, but it was noted that the price of the car will be higher than that of the Lada Vesta Sport, and in a top-end configuration (high-end stereo system, multimedia center, rain and light sensors, climate control, rear view camera) will cross the million ruble mark.
The lack of test drives deprives the evaluation of this car of many parameters, however, by assessing its design and analyzing the technical characteristics, you can form a fairly objective opinion about it.
Exterior
The Lada XRay Sport model is distinguished from the standard Ray modification, first of all, by a lower ground clearance, a sports body kit and a modified radiator grille, which add aggressiveness to the exterior. At the same time, the ground clearance is reduced both structurally and visually - by installing new bumpers in front and behind with diffusers and lower spoilers.
Both bumpers, with their design and design using red and silver trims, emphasize the sporty athleticism of the car. The roof of the Lada XRay Sport, covered with glossy black enamel, makes the car even more ergonomic and squat. Huge 18-inch alloy wheels and two split exhaust tips protruding from below the rear bumper also leave no doubt about the car's power.
The side view impresses with a striking body kit with the same red stripes on the X-elements of the body and exclusive graphics highlighting the relief on the sides. The use of red elements in the exterior focuses attention on the sporty direction of the Lada X-Ray style and will be appropriate on bodies of most colors.
Interior
The interior of the Lada X-Ray Sport combines sporty style with comfort. Semi-sports seats with advanced support and a combination of fabric and leather trim, the model name embossed on the backrests, a front armrest, special linings on the door sills - all this is elegant and appropriate. As with the exterior, the interior is decorated with tasteful use of colored elements, inserts and lighting.
The steering wheel and gear lever are covered in leather using red thread. The instrument numbers on the panel, the lights in the driver's and passenger's feet and in the door niches are also red. But there is no excess of red color in the cabin; the interior is a continuation of the exterior. Even the interior trim of the headliner, A-pillars and sun visors is made of black material - in unison with the black roof.

LADA Sport ROSNEFT eChampionship: results of the Grand Final of the 2022 season
The competition was held in two competitions – based on the results of online and offline tournaments. The main character of the evening was Yegor Sanin. The champion of Russia and winner of the European Rallycross Cup won both races of the Grand Final in a tense battle with rivals. In the offline competition, the main competitor of the pilot from Samara was sim racer from Izhevsk Elmar Kurbanov. The battles were fought until the last turn. Only the circles intervened in the duel between Sanin and Kurbanov, who twice caused incidents with the contenders for victory. Fortunately, these incidents did not affect the positions of the two leaders. Sanin still prevailed, Kurbanov finished second. “Bronze” in the race went to another participant from real motorsport – Mikhail Loboda, who snatched the prize after an exciting fight with Alexey Nazarov and Vsevolod Gagen.
The culmination of the Grand Final was a half-hour race with the participation of the strongest pilots from the online competition. The main favorite before the start was the champion of the last six-stage championship and one of the strongest sim racers in the country, Kirill Antonov. However, after qualifying, he did not even manage to get to the first line of the starting field - it was occupied by the winner of the offline competition, Egor Sanin and Alexander Galakhov.

At the start, Sanin realized the advantage of pole position, but Galakhov fell back to fourth place, letting his two teammates in the factory LADA Sport ROSNEFT eRacing Team – Kirill Antonov and Egor Ogorodnikov – go ahead. For most of the distance, the leading quartet stayed very close, the fight for getting into the TOP 3 was waged throughout the entire race. At the very end of the race, Antonov began to approach Sanin and on the last lap he almost came into attack range. But Sanin, despite problems due to tire wear, managed to hold back the onslaught of his opponent and finished first for the second time that evening! Together with Sanin and Antonov, the top three winners of the online competition were completed by Alexander Galakhov, who won the duel for bronze against Egor Ogorodnikov.

:
«I would like to express my gratitude to the organizers for a great event and the whole season. The grand final turned out just great for me! I expected to compete for victory in the offline competition, but I managed to become the fastest in the online competition. I managed to find a good pace in training and implement it into pole position in both disciplines! In the online competition, the guys from the factory team did not let us relax the entire race, for which we thank them very much! And yet we managed to bring both races to victory, so I am completely satisfied with the work done.”

LADA Sport ROSNEFT eChampionship 2020
:
«Yesterday one of my most anticipated events of this year took place. The races turned out to be intense, there was a lot of struggle, both with time and with rivals. Moreover, the fight was very clean, for which I am very grateful to the guys. I was able to communicate with almost everyone, which I’m also very happy about. I’m looking forward to the new season so I can compete for the championship again, because I’m definitely not going to give up my position.”
Suspension Lada X-Ray Sport
Due to the installation of stiffer, shorter springs and shock absorbers, the Lada X-Ray Sport received a suspension with characteristics close to sports, which ensures reliable control of the car on the move. At the same time, as mentioned above, the ground clearance was reduced, as a result of which the center of gravity of the car also shifted downwards, and the car became more stable.
The Lada X-Ray Sport has disc brakes on both axles, from Renault, but on more powerful wheel hubs, and therefore is characterized by increased efficiency.
The creation of such a chassis by AvtoVAZ engineers is based on the Lada Group’s experience in world-class auto racing, including the World Touring Car Championship (WTCC).
Engine and transmission
The Lada X-Ray Sport engine is the main advantage of this car. The basis for its development was the 122-horsepower 1.8-liter naturally aspirated engine installed on the Lada X-Ray, in which intake and exhaust manifolds with larger diameter passages and more prominent camshafts were then installed, and engine control electronics got different software. As a result of changes in gas distribution processes, engine power increased to 150 hp. s., but at the same time, naturally, fuel consumption also increased.
A manual transmission from Renault was selected for the resulting engine, and the acceleration time to 100 km/h, which was 10.2 seconds for the Lada X-Ray with a 122-horsepower engine and automatic transmission, was significantly reduced.
Considering that all X Ray Sport configurations will only have front-wheel drive, an increase in fuel consumption for this engine is not expected.
AvtoVAZ is engaged in further development and testing of the X-Ray Sport, the results of which will allow us to have a more complete understanding of this car, the start of sales of which should take place at the end of 2022 - beginning of 2022.
But even the available information allows us to conclude that this machine has many advantages. We can only hope that over time the manufacturing concern will find a way to reduce the costs of its production in order to make the cost of this car from 1.2 million rubles. accessible to a wider range of motorists.
Lada Xray Cross: increased clearance to 215 mm and Sport mode
Note that the Lada Xray Cross did not become an intrigue, since all the details about the new product were revealed earlier, thanks to OTTS. The cross-hatchback has the following dimensions: length - 4,171 mm (+6 mm compared to the standard version), width - 1,810 mm (+46 mm), height - 1,645 mm (+75 mm due to increased ground clearance and installation of roof rails on the roof) and the wheelbase size is 2,592 mm. One of the key parameters for this model is the ground clearance, which is 215 mm, whereas for a regular hatch it is 195 mm. The front track has been increased from 1,492 to 1,503 mm, and the rear from 1,532 to 1,546 mm.
Lada Xray Cross will be offered exclusively with a 122-horsepower 1.8-liter engine in combination with a five-speed manual transmission or “robot”, as well as front-wheel drive. From zero to the first hundred, the cross-hatchback accelerates in 10.9 seconds (manual transmission) or 12.7 seconds (AMT), and the maximum speed is 180 and 176 km/h, respectively.
Another important change for the Xray Cross version was the appearance of rear disc brakes instead of drum brakes. In addition, if for the Xray the maximum wheel size was 205/50 R17, then for the cross version it is 215/50 R17. The vehicle's curb weight has been increased from 1,250 to 1,300 kg, and the maximum unbraked trailer towing weight is now 650 kg, up from 600 kg.

Inside the car, the front seats have been redesigned and more lateral support has been added; the length of the cabin has increased by 25 mm, which has expanded the space in the leg area of the rear passengers. A button for turning on seat heating has appeared on the front panel, as well as a selector for selecting Lada Ride Select driving modes, and the Xray Cross steering wheel can be adjusted for height and reach. The list of equipment of the model includes a system for illuminating turns in the dark, three-level heating of the front seats and separate heating of the rear ones.
The armrest with storage box located between the front seats has a rear USB port for charging mobile devices, buttons for heated rear seats and a 12-volt outlet. Metal linings appeared on the thresholds.

The Lada Xray Cross now has five driving modes: ESC ON - designed to overcome difficult areas with mixed types of surfaces, regulates the rotation speed of each wheel individually in the event of a drift of the front or rear axle; Sport - the influence of the traction control system on the drive wheels is weakened, the sensitivity of the stability control system is reduced and the sensitivity of the accelerator pedal is increased; “Snow, mud” - works at speeds up to 54 km/h, the threshold for slipping of the drive wheels is increased, the sensitivity of the electronic differential is increased, the anti-lock braking system increases wheel slip; “Sand” - settings are changed to improve cross-country ability on loose soils (up to 54 km/h); ESC Off - the traction control and stability control systems are turned off, the anti-lock braking system continues to work (up to 54 km/h).
AVTOVAZ also presented the Lada 4x4 concept, which serves as a prototype of the new Niva. Online broadcast from the Moscow Motor Show.
