I connected it as usual, via a relay to the button and to the alarm, I forgot to take a photo.

  • 8mm socket wrench;
  • set of Phillips screwdrivers;
  • marker.

First, remove the tailgate trim. It is installed on 10 plastic clips. Underneath it is the protective casing of the lock itself - unscrew the screws holding it in place and remove the element.

Next, you need to outline the locking mechanism with a marker and unscrew the nuts holding it with a wrench. Later, installing the lock along the marked contours will make it easier to adjust, or even with a successful combination of circumstances will make this procedure completely unnecessary.

In the end, I chose a system that, without any special modifications, turned out to be reliable (I’ve been riding for a year now without any problems). In general, I found these drawings and ordered them from a turner I know.

Dismantling the old castle

The replacement sequence is as follows:

  1. First of all, in order not to damage the interior lining of the trunk, we remove ten plastic fasteners, and then the plastic casing from the lock.
  2. We remove the casing, then unscrew the nut that secures the lock in place.
  3. Unscrew the wires that are in the way.
  4. Next, you need to unscrew the right fastening nut and remove the inner part of the lock from the fastenings.
  5. You can inspect the integrity of the spring and core. If these parts are defective, then the problem is in the mechanism. In any case, everything will have to be changed.

If you prefer the economical option of replacing it with a new mechanical lock, then install it in the reverse order as described.
