Removing the lock, drive and latch of the trunk lid

To remove the lock, remove the four pistons by prying them off with a screwdriver.

. and remove the lock drive trim.

. disconnect the rod from the lock drive.

Squeezing the clamps, disconnect the lock wire block from the rear wiring harness block. We use a marker to mark the position of the lock relative to the trunk lid.

Using a socket or a 10mm wrench, unscrew the three nuts securing the lock.

Remove the trunk lock with rod and wires. We install the trunk lock in the reverse order according to the previously marked marks. To remove the lock drive, disconnect the lock rod from the drive (see above).

We use a marker to mark the position of the lock drive relative to the trunk lid.

Using a 8-mm socket, unscrew the two nuts securing the lock drive to the trunk lid.

Remove the lock drive.

Using a screwdriver, remove the retaining ring.

Remove the pressure lever.

. and remove the lock.

Remove the pusher with the washer and spring.

We take out the cylinder lock mechanism. We assemble and install the lock drive in the reverse order according to the previously applied marks. To remove the lock retainer.

Electric drive: easy installation

The manipulation algorithm is very simple. Here you will need to make the rotary plate together with the rod yourself. The wiring is laid directly to the lock and connected to a special control unit. When the car is “disarmed”, the electric drive of the luggage lock is activated following the unlocking of the button responsible for opening the rear door of the Lada Kalina.

The whole essence of the action comes down to connecting the electric lock to two cable lines. You can buy the product at a specialized retail outlet. The end of the luggage compartment will need to be hidden in order to prevent the risk of moisture getting into it. If this is neglected, then with the penetration of water a short circuit will be observed in the designated area.

Much attention should be paid to the area near the door hinges, because broken wires are a common occurrence here. To prevent this, it is recommended to regularly monitor this section of the highway.

Before starting the procedure for installing the electric drive in a Lada Kalina car, you will need to remove the plastic trim. Here you need to be careful not to damage the specified protective element.

The choice of a lock for LADA Kalina should mean that there is no subsequent need for modifications before installation. This means drilling additional holes.

An important point in the installation procedure is the laying of electrical lines. For these purposes, you will need about 3.5 m of appropriate cable. You can use standard wiring suitable for the rear door. The power source can be a cigarette lighter socket. It is also important to install the fuse correctly.

Removing the lock and replacing the cylinder

The design of the trunk lock on the Lada Kalina consists of two parts: the cylinder where the key is inserted and the door locking mechanism itself. All this is disconnected separately and will be written about this in more detail below.

  • If you need to replace the larva, it is quite easy to remove it. You can do this using an 8mm socket and a flathead screwdriver. Below is shown which bolts need to be unscrewed to release this part along with the body.

  • Now that the bolts are unscrewed, take a plastic screwdriver and use it to pry off the plastic retainer that secures the rod to the body of the cylinder. For clarity, below is a photograph that clearly shows what needs to be done:

  • Then, carefully take the larva so that its spring, which is located inside, does not jump out. If you need to replace a part, then replace it with a new one and assemble everything in the reverse order.
  • If it is necessary to completely remove the entire mechanism, then you will have to do a little more work. We unscrew the door locking mechanism itself with a large Phillips screwdriver, there are only two bolts:

When everything is done, you need to pull it a little towards yourself and it can be easily removed; all that remains is to disconnect the plug with the power wires from this structure:

That's all the repairs, which will take about half an hour if you have the right tools and this manual. We install all the removed parts, which can be bought at absolutely any auto store, in the reverse order. Install the activator

To get into the luggage compartment on Kalina, you need to turn the key and also press the button. It's not convenient to do this.

In such a situation, it makes sense to install an activator. It's not difficult to do. This can really be done with your own hands.

The activator is attached using a self-tapping screw and a wire holder. Check the device first. To do this, connect the device to the standard car connector and test it.

The main problem with the activator's operation is that the back door may not be picked up in time. When the current stops flowing to the activator, the trunk closes with the first latch, but the compartment may not be completely closed. To get into the trunk, you will have to pick up the key again.

Connection options

Making a lock that opens the trunk with a button is not difficult. A special circuit is assembled, and wires are also pulled. One of the programmable alarm channels is used to operate the lock.

There are 2 connection options.

  • First
    . The button connects to +12V and also bypasses the relay. The advantage of the method is its simplicity and the absence of additional components. But there is a drawback. You'll have to pull the wires;
  • Second
    . More labor-intensive method. You need diodes and ground. A lot of wires are used. That's a plus.

Experts, as well as experienced motorists, prefer the second option. It's easier to implement.

It is better to use copper PV3 wires with a square cross-section.

In Lada Kalina, it is better to run the wiring on the left side and along the sills. Switching is done using crimping and electrical tape.

To control the activator, use a standard pink-red wire. It is connected to the relay, wrapped and hidden under the BUS mounting frame.

All procedures are carried out with the negative terminal of the battery removed.

Such simple steps allow you to install an electric drive on Kalina to open the luggage compartment. An actuator is also needed. It can be purchased assembled. This is better than collecting from scrap materials.

Installation of the activator: preparatory work

Since there is space for a trunk lock activator in Kalina, it makes sense to use it. Absolutely any activator will do. Of course, for those who are interested in the quality and long service life of the entire device, it is better not to stop at extremely cheap options. Experienced car owners still advise choosing domestic Kalina electric lock drives, regardless of body type. They are somewhat more expensive than similar products made in China or Taiwan, but still more reliable. Main parameters of the activator:

  • 12 volts;
  • two-pin;
  • lock-unlock functions.

In order for the system to open doors by pressing a button to work fully, one activator will not be enough. You will also need such a thing as a rotary washer. According to many car owners, the easiest way is to grind it yourself. You will need a steel plate and a machine. There are quite enough drawings with dimensions that will show what kind of rotary washer for the Kalina activator should be on various auto forums.

Dismantling the rear and other door trim on the Lada Kalina

When removing the trim, the division into front and rear doors is not accidental. Although at first the process is identical for them, then some differences begin to appear.

What tools will you need?

To unscrew the fasteners and remove the door trim, simple tools are required in the form of:

  • Phillips screwdriver;
  • flat and long screwdriver;
  • sharp awl.

Step-by-step description of the process

The first three stages are similar for both front and rear doors:

  1. Use your fingers to unscrew and remove the latch that locks the door lock from the inside.
  2. Using a Phillips screwdriver, you need to unscrew the 4 screws that secure the audio speaker.
  3. Then it should be removed and the wires disconnected from it.

To dismantle the trim on the front right door, it is necessary to free the decorative panel from 8 clips, 2 mounting screws holding the inner handle, and 2 screws located under the plastic pocket. Then follows:

  1. Using an awl, pry off the plastic plug under which there is a screw in the door handle. In a similar way, remove the second plug and unscrew both screws (3).
  2. Pull the handle that opens the doors towards you, then unscrew the fastening screw, remove the lever and then the entire handle.
  3. Under the plastic pocket at the bottom of the door, unscrew the 2 screws (2).
  4. Using a flat-head screwdriver, pry the lower right part of the decorative panel (5) to disengage the first latch. Holding the panel in your hand, use your other hand to release the remaining latches.
  5. Separating the panel from the door, disconnect the wiring connecting the electric lift button and its mechanism. To do this, use a screwdriver to pry up the detachable tongue and remove the block from the button block.

The decorative panel from the driver's door is removed in the same way as from the passenger door. However, there are some minor differences:

  1. To facilitate removal of the trim, it is necessary to remove the plastic panel that covers the rear view mirror adjustment lever.

Removing the trim from the rear doors, which is secured with 10 plastic clips and 2 mounting screws, proceeds as follows:

  1. First of all, the handle of the mechanical window lifter (7) is dismantled, for which the plastic half-ring (5) is pryed off with an awl, which fixes the lever on the axis. After removing the half ring, the handle can be easily removed.
  2. 2 plastic plugs are removed from the door handle (3) and the fastening screws (1) are unscrewed.
  3. Using a flat-head screwdriver, the lower far part of the decorative panel is pulled out, after which the first latch is snapped out.
  4. Then the remaining clips are released from the panel supported by one hand with the other.

And in order to remove the door card from the trunk lid of the Lada Kalina on a station wagon and hatchback, which is held on by 4 clips, 2 special clamps, 2 fastening screws on the handle and 2 brackets hooked onto a metal protrusion, you need to:

  1. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the 2 screws and disconnect the handle.
  2. From the glass side, insert a flat-head screwdriver under the panel and unlock the lock.
  3. Use your fingers to disengage the clips, pulling the panel around the perimeter.
  4. Remove the trim, releasing the staples near the luggage lock last.
  5. It should be taken into account that the panel is detached from the glass side, since if this is done from the lock side, the clips can be damaged.

Trunk lock on VAZ 2109 from Kalina - can it be installed?

Having entered a similar request into the search, I found scant information that people really put Kalina locks on their nines, after which they forget about all the problems. It seemed to me that I could forget about them too, so I made a list like this in my head:

  1. The lock is from Kalina (as it turned out during the search, you need it from a sedan, not from a hatchback, they are different in design).
  2. The mating part, which is attached to the body. By the way, it fits perfectly on the nine; you don’t have to drill any extra holes. But there are minor nuances that will be discussed further.
  3. Installing a Kalina lock means that the trunk will open only by electric drive (or by a lever from the inside). Therefore, you need to take a kit for the central locking - one gear motor, all the accessories come with it (screws, bar).
  4. For electrical wiring you need a button; it is not necessary to install a relay, since this will only load the entire circuit. But a fuse of 16 A maximum is worth installing. But 8 A is enough.

Then it turned out that you still needed two plastic or rubber plugs - you can pick them up by visiting any auto parts store.

I put it all together, skimped, and only one important detail remained – the mounting bracket. Judging by people's reviews, you need to use a 30X30 mm corner. I can’t find anything suitable, so I make a corner out of the plank and open the door to try everything.

Owners of the Lada Kalina car are almost unanimously surprised: with all the bias towards Europe, the trunk lock of the Kalina hatchback in the basic configuration for some reason can only be opened with a key. For many, the situation immediately became quite common: the driver gets into the car, starts the engine, and then remembers that he needs to put something from the passenger compartment into the trunk. Further actions are similar to a joke.

Then another interesting detail became clear: the craftsmen who climbed under the trunk trim to understand the internal structure realized that there was still a place for the lock activator and even a standard electrical connector for wires. And then the same craftsmen began to solve the problem of how to modify Kalina to increase the comfort of use.

Egnition lock

The ignition switch is a complex device designed to control the supply of power to vehicle systems, prevent battery discharge and ensure that the engine starts from the starter system. The castle includes two components:

  • mechanical, represented by a lock cylinder;
  • electrical, which is a set of contacts that close electrical impulses when the key is turned in one way or another.

The ignition switch on the Lada Kalina has three modes:

  1. Mode "0". In this position, the key can be easily removed, and the lighting, emergency lights, and audio system work.
  2. Mode "1", fixed. It is no longer possible to remove the key from this position; when it turns on, the ignition system is turned on and power is supplied to all systems except the starter. But it is worth considering that keeping the key in mode “1” for a long time can lead to battery discharge. This position is used when turning on the starter, so that the running fuel pump pumps up the required pressure to ensure further ideal operation of the starter.
  3. Mode “2”—activation of the starter system.

The Lada Kalina ignition switch kit contains a key for the lock, which serves not only in its straight profile, but also as a key for the doors and trunk.
