First of all, most likely, for unification, because producing one model but in different bodies is easier and more profitable than different ones.

At first glance, there are minimal changes in the interior, but let's look at everything in order. In addition to the new upholstery, the manufacturer installed completely new seats of a different shape and with different headrests. The driver's seat has the ability to change its height, and lateral support has increased. The seats have become much more comfortable, albeit a small step forward. The new front panel was created from the old one. The stereo system with a monochrome display has been updated. Even there, if you wish, you can consider the general X-style of Lada.

But AvtoVAZ engineers created something from scratch. This instrument panel has a bright orange backlight. Technical equipment

The 2022 Lada Vesta Cross differs from the previous modification in that the sedan is now equipped with a continuously variable transmission. However, such a gearbox is available only in the maximum configuration. In the initial version, Vesta Cross is produced with a 1.6-liter “aspirated” engine, the maximum output of which is limited to 106 hp, and the torque reaches 148 N*m. This engine is complemented by an electronic control system for direct fuel injection. In combination with a 5-speed manual transmission, the sedan develops the first 100 km/h in 11.9 seconds, while consuming about 7.1 liters of fuel. The maximum speed is 178 km/h.

The next 1.8-liter engine on the list produces 122 hp. useful power, and its thrust reaches 170 N*m. This engine also features electronic fuel injection control. Vesta Cross, in modification with a manual transmission and a top-end unit, accelerates to the first “hundred” in 10.5 seconds and consumes about 7.7 liters. The maximum speed has been increased to 180 km/h. The introduction of a continuously variable variator means that the sedan takes 12.7 seconds to accelerate to “hundreds”, but fuel consumption decreases by 0.2 liters.

Lada Vesta Cross has a standard design for cars of this class. At the front of the car there are MacPherson struts. At the rear, the manufacturer placed a semi-independent suspension. Due to the fact that the cross-sedan's ground clearance has been increased to 203 mm, AvtoVAZ engineers had to replace shock absorbers and springs.

• Vitaly, Tyumen. I've been driving a Lada Granta since 2014. It turned out to be a decent car. At least this car is much better than the Samara that I have ever driven. My car has traveled 44 thousand kilometers. I am convinced of the merits of the car every time I get behind the wheel of a Granta. Firstly, I will note the comfortable fit, the presence of all the necessary options, a spacious five-seater interior and a large trunk. There is also a full-size spare tire. I have a version with a 1.6 liter engine. A car with such an engine accelerates vigorously up to 140 km/h, and then turns sour. In urban conditions, the dynamics are excellent, there is nothing to undermine directly. Fuel consumption is no more than 10 liters, taking into account city traffic jams. Ground clearance of 160 mm is enough for comfortable and safe driving on broken roads and rough terrain.
• Nikita, Tyumen. Lada Granta is my first car that I bought after graduating from driving school. I quickly adapted to the car, as I took driving courses on the Lada Kalina. Both cars are similar in handling and behavior, so there was no need to get used to them. But I noticed that the Granta handles a little better, it is more stable in turns and on a straight line, it needs less steering than in the Granta. Version with a 1.6 engine with 87 hp. With. – a basic modification, but still has a groovy character. In terms of acceleration dynamics, this car somewhat reminded me of the VAZ-2110, which I used to drive with a friend. With a ground clearance of 160 mm, you don’t have to worry about damage to the chassis, for example, when driving along country roads.
• Alexey, St. Petersburg. I used to drive a VAZ-2114, so I will only compare the Grant with this car. The Granta is clearly more powerful than the “fourteenth” - the power reserve is clearly felt. The ventilation system works as expected, but is noticeably noisy in the summer. The design of the car is simple and original, without any frills. It’s immediately obvious that this is a man’s car, not like my wife’s glamorous Nissan Juke. I am completely satisfied with the car - it is fast and comfortable, designed for active driving even on country roads. The suspension does not break through at all, the chassis is very durable. Fuel consumption for the version with a 1.6-liter engine is 10 liters per 100 km. The electrics work as expected, as do the brakes. Over 38 thousand kilometers, no major problems arose.
• Vova, Cheboksary. The car was purchased in 2012 to replace the 105th Volga of 2006, with a Chrysler engine. With the Volga, at first I hoped that the car would serve me for at least ten years, as was the case with my VAZ-2101, which served me faithfully for 20 long years. It didn’t work out that way with Vloga – she was always plagued by constant breakdowns. Apparently, the Chrysler engine put so much stress on domestic parts that they could not stand it and quickly fell apart. I hope this won't happen to Grant. The machine has been in use for six years now and nothing bad has happened to it. It suits me in terms of handling and even cross-country ability, despite the fact that it is an ordinary passenger car. Comfortable and energy-intensive suspension, tenacious brakes and adequate handling, a spacious interior and additional options - thanks to this we can hope that I have a truly modern car, similar to a foreign car. Its ground clearance is 160 mm – a very good indicator for both the city and country roads.
• Stepan, Moscow. I bought Granta immediately after passing the test drive. I don't know why, but I liked the car. I immediately realized that it was mine. Maybe I have such impressions because I previously drove a VAZ-2105 and GAZ 3110. The Granta is perceived as a well-built and well-built car, in which it is comfortable to be on any road. High cross-country ability (by passenger standards) is facilitated by a ground clearance of 160 mm, as well as high body overhangs, a soft and energy-intensive suspension, and a high-torque engine. Gasoline consumption is 8 liters in the city and on the highway. The build quality is a C grade, and there is always something creaking and rattling in the cabin. I hope that the car will work properly for at least another two years, and then I will sell it and buy a second generation Grant.
• Semyon, Stavropol. The car was purchased in 2015 in a liftback body. A model with such a body was needed - it is more practical, and it is more convenient to load things into it - due to the lower loading height. At the same time, in profile the car looks almost like a Grant sedan. The car is in top-end configuration, with a manual transmission. In my opinion, the version with a 1.6 engine and manual transmission is considered the most successful. The body of the liftback is quite narrow and high, which causes lateral rocking, as well as roll in corners. The car is not suitable for active driving, due to the soft suspension and ground clearance of 160 mm. The car is ideal for city driving. The cabin is spacious for all four passengers, including me, the driver. The car turned out to be very economical, and consumes within 9-10 liters per 100 km. The Granta's body is very original and unlike its competitors, for which special thanks - this is not a Daewoo Lanos.

It is too early to talk about detailed technical characteristics, however, given that in general the model is far from new, certain assumptions can be made. So, it is obvious that the same variants of gasoline engines will be installed as power units on the Grant station wagon - 8 and 16 valves, developing power of 87 and 106 hp. respectively. It is worth noting that there are practically no complaints about these engines; they are quite reliable, unpretentious and repairable.

The base gearbox will be the same 5-speed manual, which several years ago began to be equipped with a cable drive. The gears on it are engaged quite clearly, but a serious drawback is the hum at certain speeds, but it is possible that the plant will be able to solve this problem. As an automatic transmission, the branded VAZ “Robot” will probably be offered, which has been installed on many models for several years, including Grant, Kalina and even Vesta. It is quite comfortable, simply reliable, but takes some getting used to. Whether there will be a full-fledged automatic transmission, at least a 4-speed Jatko, is still unknown, although given the low demand for such a modification, it is possible that it will be abandoned.

As for the dimensions of the station wagon based on the Lada Granta, most likely they will be similar to the sedans, since the platform is the same.

Will there be new engines on Grant in 2022?

For a long time there were rumors on the Internet about new engines for all Lada models, there was even talk about turbocharged engines. However, not so long ago the company’s representative office stated that they planned to abandon the development of new power units. However, this does not mean that there will be no modernization of existing ones.

The main problem of the family is the outdated platform, which has long been in need of updating. With modernization, the entire Kalina family will be included in the Grants line, and the name “Kalina” itself will go down in history. All Grants received interiors from Kalina. There are minor changes such as a new instrument cluster or decorative inserts in the front panel. Granta of all modifications received a new handle for the parking brake lever, a different cladding for the lower part of the center console and modified seat upholstery. For Granta, this is definitely a benefit, because its front panel was overly simplified and cheapened.

In the cabin there is a new design instrument cluster with radial digitization and a black and white on-board computer display (it was green and black). The model received wider headrests, and the rear sofa now has pronounced lateral support. The driver's seat in expensive trim levels will now be equipped with a height adjustment function (adjustment range - 40 mm). For the first time, the basic equipment of the Lada Granta included the ERA-GLONASS SOS system (on Grants of the outgoing model it was offered as an additional option).

Engines and gearboxes have not changed. Three variants of the 1.6 liter petrol engine and three transmission options are available. The basic eight-valve engine (87 hp) is combined with a 5-speed manual transmission. 16-valve engine with 98 hp. is combined with a 4-band Japanese “automatic” Jatco, and for the engine the output is 106 hp. “mechanics” or domestic “robot” are available. For cars with “mechanics” and “robots,” the gear ratio of the main pair has been increased from 3.7:1 to 3.9:1. 1. The rear part will be completely copied from Kalina in the same body (this is most likely the simplest option);
2. The design of the sedan will still be taken as a basis, in which case it is quite difficult to make the car beautiful in appearance, since the lights do not suit the new design at all;
3. Partially repeat the design of the liftback, in particular the rear lights. This will look more interesting.

The Lada Granta, in a completely new version for 2022, received a rather original bumper on the front, which perfectly combines inserts in the shape of the letter “X”. Design

After restyling, the car received a modified front end, characteristic of all AvtoVAZ cars of the latest generation. At the same time, the model has retained completely classic forms, in which there is no sports component at all, and directional relief lines that characterize high aerodynamic characteristics. In general, the car looks quite harmonious, and every detail of the body is a logical continuation of the previous element. The rear end with original lights and relief curves of the trunk lid somewhat enlivens the overall perception. The wheel arches do not stand out against the general background and do not weigh down the exterior of the model.

The interior looks comfortable and laconic. Despite the limited size of the cabin, the car enthusiast has convenient access to the main controls located on the front panel. The first row seats have little lateral support and cannot provide a high level of comfort when driving long distances. There's room for three adults in the back, but the protruding transmission tunnel creates some leg discomfort for the middle passenger.

Among the advantages of the car is the large volume of the luggage compartment, which, if necessary, can be increased by folding the row of rear seats.

Advantages and disadvantages of Lada Granta

The VAZ-2190 model is one of the most popular and best-selling passenger cars in Russia, despite a considerable number of shortcomings, it is of interest to many potential buyers. Reviews from Lada Granta owners are both positive and negative, and the list of the most frequently noted advantages of the car includes:

Handling and off-road performance

Despite the fact that the developers from AvtoVAZ did not reward the model with any extraordinary solutions when releasing the Granta Cross, we can say that the domestic all-terrain station wagon turned out to be of very high quality, especially considering the cost of this model. In city conditions, the car behaves quite calmly and has good maneuverability, and the high level of ground clearance will easily allow you to overcome various bumps and small holes, as well as calmly park near curbs.

As for the off-road properties of the model, then, of course, drifting on a snowy track in such a car is not the best idea, but you can overcome a dirt road full of bumps and holes in a domestic station wagon without any difficulties, even taking into account the fact that The manufacturer did not equip the car with a stability control system.

In addition, a decent level of ground clearance and 15-grade tires allow the driver to move in off-road conditions without much fear, not forgetting that the car is not equipped with an all-wheel drive system.

Interior

The new product boasts decent quality interior decorating and finishing materials, ergonomic layout of instrumentation and on-board electronics. Fabric and leatherette interior trim is available in several tones and colors. The interior is complemented by bright and expressive decorative accents.

• In the new generation, the 2021 Lada Granta hatchback is characterized by a block layout of the console, consisting of a pair of air deflectors, a two-channel audio system setup panel and a remote control with three adjustable washers for the standard air conditioner.
