The next step for the summer vacation was the purchase of a roof rack - what was ahead was the transportation of things that still wouldn’t fit in the cabin. Initially I wanted something more expensive, like “Atlanta”, but then I freaked out, drove it to the market and bought “EURO DETAIL” for 1500.

In short, a good thing. For 1500 (+50/100 for fasteners) it paid for itself. The main thing is to buy normal slings, otherwise the carpet flew off my roof from the Ashan rubber bands.

Then the date for the third stage of the autosprint suddenly crept up. 6. We place the gaskets from the kit in the seats, aligning them with the mounting holes.

7. We attach the right rail, placing its brackets on the spacers so that they are between the bracket and the body.
8. We secure the roof rail using the screws included in the kit, 3 on each side of the car, without clamping them completely.
9. Pressing the roof rail tightly against the roof, we completely tighten the middle screw, and then the other two, but do not screw it tightly.
10. Along the perimeter of the front and rear railing brackets we glue the protector edgings so that the brackets are inside them.
11. We dismantle the railing.
12. In the resulting “windows”, limited by edgings, we install protectors by gluing them to the roof surface. The arrows on the treads should point forward.
13. We remove the edgings and smooth the protectors.
14. We install the railing according to the algorithm described above. We tighten the bolts all the way.
15. We install the railing on the other side in the same way.

Earlier we said that the platform for creating the Granta liftback was Kalina. This can be seen in the interior as well. You can see what the Granta liftback salon looks like in the photo below.

If the exterior was at least somehow redesigned, then the interior is identical to Kalina-2, with the exception of some points. So, the same plastic with silver inserts, round deflectors, an instrument panel with two wells and a three-spoke steering wheel are used here. The latter is not equipped with buttons even in top trim levels, which causes dissatisfaction. It would be nice to have a speaker volume control and a call button. By the way, this car is equipped with a large multimedia display with Bluetooth only in top versions. The cheapest “Grants” come without any acoustics at all. The instrument panel has a pleasant green backlight. Between the scales there is a small on-board computer display. Reviews say that the dashboard is very informative. Now let's talk about the engine, which comes in mid-range and top-end trim levels. This is also a 1.6-liter unit, but already developing 106 horsepower. This unit features a new 16-valve head. This made it possible to increase torque and power, as well as reduce fuel consumption. If we talk about dynamics, the 16-valve Granta accelerates to hundreds in 10.6 seconds. By the way, both a manual and a robotic gearbox can be used as a gearbox. With the latter, the car reached a hundred one and a half seconds later. And until 2015, an automatic machine from Jatko (Japan) was also available.

But, as noted in the reviews, fuel consumption increased significantly because of it. If with a manual the car spent about 6.7 liters (for a robot the figure is 0.1 liters more), then with an automatic the car spent at least 12 liters in the city. This angered many owners. Due to the decline in popularity, AvtoVAZ had to abandon this gearbox (four-speed automatic transmission).

Full characteristics of the trunk

With the rear seats folded, the trunk size of the Grant is 770 liters, and in normal condition - 440. Among production VAZs, this is the first liftback in history. In terms of luggage compartment volume, the new Granta has left behind even the Volkswagen Golf, one of the most popular hatchbacks in the world. However, on the Golf with the rear seats folded down, the trunk volume increases to 1200 liters, which the Lada designers failed to do due to the desire to maintain the same wheelbase as the sedan.

So, what will real owners say about the size and convenience of the trunk? On the Internet you can find many photos taken by owners of the domestic liftback. Car owners are sometimes quite surprised at how many different things a new car can accommodate. But it turns out that with a large trunk volume, not everything is as rosy as described in the advertisement.

The Grant's rear seats can only be folded when the front seats are pushed all the way forward. In this case, the rear head restraints must first be unscrewed. The top parcel shelf can be easily removed, which is very useful if you need to transport something large. The volume, of course, is not added, but the load does not rest against anything. In the photo the shelf is raised. In the niches on the right and left you can place medium-sized bags, and, if necessary, a strategic set of tools for car repairs on your own.

Above these recesses there are hangers for packages: now there is no need to clutter up the rear seats with them. There is a light above the left niche, but it only works if the driver turns on the low beam headlights. In cloudy weather and in the evening it’s a good addition, but considering that you can forget to turn on the low beam, it’s not very convenient.

The rubber mat in the trunk did not receive flattering reviews. It is no longer possible to attach a “motorist’s bag” to it with Velcro, and the quality of the mat’s material is worse than it could be. And the trunk really needs a rubber mat. A pile covering is not suitable for this role, since, firstly, it can be damaged by the leakage of various liquids, and secondly, it will collect all the dirt and dust from the luggage compartment.

The rubber coating in the Granta's trunk easily fits on top of the usual one. But, if you store something in the spare wheel recess, you need to take into account that one mat will rest against the side niches of the trunk and bend, and if you put some things above the spare wheel, they will fall into the resulting recess.

Features and disadvantages of the luggage compartment

• To fully fold the rear row of seats into a flat platform, you will need to remove the headrests. Otherwise, they will rest against the back of the front seats. The angle of the seat layout will not exceed 160 - 165°;
• To remotely unlock the rear door lock, you need to press the mechanical key fob button twice;
• Lifting the trunk lid requires a lot of effort; the door is moderately heavy;
• A solid rubber mat on a raised shelf is impractical, since with frequent use of a spare wheel or a mechanical jack, the sides touch the fleecy covering, wearing it out.

What kind of oversized cargo will fit into the trunk of a Liftback?

With the rear row seats folded, the trunk can accommodate four tires with a radius of 14 - 15 inches. Plus, there is space on the sides for storing tools, a tow rope, and a foot pump for inflating wheels.

Hatchback LADA Granta: trunk volume and configuration are known

AVTOVAZ is preparing to launch a long-awaited new product – a five-door version of its bestseller.

According to AvtoSreda’s own information, the length of the LADA Granta hatchback will be 4247 mm, width – 1700 mm, height – 1500 mm. Thus, the five-door will be 13 millimeters shorter than the sedan. The width and height of both modifications of the model are the same.

The minimum volume of the hatchback luggage compartment is 440 l, the maximum is 760 l. According to the manufacturer, the trunk volume of the Grant sedan is 520 liters.

Like other Ladas, the Granta hatchback will be available in three versions: “standard”, “norm” and “luxury”. The last two trim levels have a couple more versions. It is likely that the number of equipment options for the five-door Granta will increase in the future.

As AutoSreda learned, buyers will be offered a hatchback with three gasoline engines.

87 hp engine equipped with the cheapest “standard” equipment and one of the “norm” versions; 98-horsepower engine with automatic transmission - only for the top-end luxury version; unit with a power of 106 hp – for “norm” and “luxury”.

The maximum speed of the LADA Granta hatchback is 166-177 km/h, depending on the version.

The basic package of the five-door Granta will include: tilt-adjustable steering column, central locking, driver airbag and audio equipment. The back of the rear sofa is indivisible, but, unlike the “standard” LADA Granta sedan, even the cheapest hatchback has bumpers already painted in body color.

Both “standards”, according to “AutoSreda”, are supplemented by ABS+BAS, a split rear seat, a front suspension with increased caster, electric power steering, an instrument cluster with on-board computer functions, an outside temperature display, front electric windows, an electric tailgate lock with control from the salon.

The difference between the two “normal” configurations is that one has only audio preparation, the other has an audio system with USB, SD card, Bluetooth and Handsfree.

In the “luxury” hatchback LADA Granta, to the main options of the “normal” version, according to AvtoSreda, the following have been added: modernized suspension and additional sound insulation, rear electric windows, passenger airbag, central locking with remote control, electric tailgate lock with remote control and control from interior, electrically adjustable exterior mirrors, electrically heated and side turn indicators, fog lights, climate system, multimedia system with a 7-inch touch screen, USB, SD card, Bluetooth and Handsfree.

One of the luxury versions also has a navigation system, the other has an exchange rate stability system (ESC), parking sensors, rain and light sensors.

Both luxury models have 15-inch wheels, the rest of the trim levels have 14-inch wheels.

Prices, the start date of mass production and the date of appearance of the LADA Granta hatchback in showrooms have not yet been officially announced. As previously reported, IzhAvto will produce a five-door modification of the most popular model in Russia. Perhaps the Izhevsk plant will begin production of the hatchback this spring.

Today, a roof rack for a car is not only a convenient and necessary thing, but also serves a decorative function.

Some car owners install it simply to improve the exterior of their car. We are not talking about the classic basket-shaped trunk made of welded steel rods, but about roof rails. These are two longitudinal rails installed on both sides of the car roof along the body.

There is another type of trunk - transverse arches, but it looks less attractive and, in addition, creates additional resistance to oncoming air flow while moving.

The same cannot be said about the roof rails. Without an attached load, they do not in any way violate the aerodynamic properties of the car.

Roof rails for Lada Grants are produced by two domestic enterprises: Petroil Tuning and APS. They are made from a durable aluminum profile (hollow inside), coated either with a protective and decorative polymer, or with an anodic oxide film and fade-resistant ABS plastic. For different modifications of Grants, roof rails of various sizes, configurations and costs are provided.

The kit for installing roof rails on the Lada Granta includes:
