The manufacturer equips its LADA vehicles with an emergency response system in case of accidents “ERA GLONASS” or (SVEOS). The control unit is built into the navigation light on the ceiling and has several rows of buttons. Let's consider the capabilities of this system in more detail.
SOS button and how to disable Glonass on Lada Vesta
Disable Era Glonass, such questions are in your head? Whether we need to do this or not - let's figure it out! What is Era Glonass, how does the system work? Now it’s a help button, but initially Glonass was a control system. The device was intended not so much for assistance as for control, from the outside, of taxi fleets and transport companies. With the help of such a system, they, without additional devices, track the route of the attached vehicle. The information is analyzed for consistency, fuel consumed and corresponding mileage.
“Our” drivers are not averse to making money as a “leftist”, draining gasoline or driving on “leftist” orders. The path is tracked using satellites, as well as special sensors that send data - equipment damage, trip maps. In view of this, many drivers want to know how to block Glonass in a car so that the “travel” map does not reach the management. After reading the article you will find out why Glonass is on Vesta. We will reveal the tricks - how bad guys want to fool the “uncle” whose gasoline is being drained. Let's give some small examples of how to do this on a Lada Vesta.

Disabling the Glonass Era on Vesta - the treasured SOS button
Is it possible to get rid of Glonass tracking? Let’s try to give an accurate and reasoned answer. But understand that you will carry out this work only at your own peril and risk. Lada Vesta is one of the first Russian cars that received such a system already in the “base”; all trim levels are equipped with it from the factory. You can argue for a long time about the benefits or harm of the option. The mission of this option is as follows:
In the event of an accident, the device sends geolocation data to the control room, from where the information is transmitted to emergency services.
When you press the button, the operator is dialed; the device has a SIM card. This is manual mode. In automatic mode the pump will work:
- From airbag deployment;
- Triggering of the accelerometer sensor;
- Automatic mode recognizes several types of accidents:
- Side impact - if the car was hit from the side;
- Rear collision - a car coming from behind hit you;
- Car overturn - if the car has turned over.
After an accident or after pressing a button, the sos-system will connect with the operator and send additional information about the vehicle and the accident:
- car vin code,
- the speed at which it moved;
- impact damage: where the car is damaged, the color of the car;
- What kind of gasoline is it filled with?
If after an accident no one is able to press the button, then everything will go away on its own. Then the dispatcher will call the car and if no one answers, he will send help.
In addition to the sos button itself, the device has the following components:
- Microphone for communication;
- Speaker - to hear the operator;
- SIM card and modem - for communication with the Internet and operator;
- Accelerometer and gyroscope;
- GNSS/GSM antenna - communication amplifier;
- Module for GLONASS navigation.
It is clear that the whole sos button project has good intentions and can save lives.
Suspicious Lada Vesta drivers are worried that they are being followed. You can simply turn off the SOS on the Lada Vesta by removing the power supply connector. However, be aware that the system has backup batteries, so to turn off Glonass completely, you will need to wait at least 48 hours.

What problems does satellite navigation solve? You need to know
How Glonass works is easy to understand by carefully reading the following paragraphs. The device, using navigation and several installed sensors and controllers, allows for optimization of work for a transport corporation or taxi. These special sensors are called counters. So, these meters are installed on the fuel system, interact with the “brains”, as a result, information about the vehicle is displayed before the eyes of the company owner.
It becomes possible to control consumption, but remotely; monitoring allows you to find out whether the driver is driving to the left or not. Fuel control is important for management, because often drivers are not averse to draining a certain amount of gasoline.
Navigation gives management an understanding of where the vehicle is, the time of movement, how the driver works, and so on. Based only on data on consumption, driving schedule, information about movement, it is possible to reduce the subjective factor. Responsibility increases, there are fewer leftists, they don’t break the rules, they don’t speed up the speedometer.
In addition, the vehicle’s condition, service life and operation are monitored. But all this is doable, taking into account the fact that the device itself is working and functioning correctly.
Guide to using the “ERA GLONASS” system
The LADA vehicle is equipped with an in-vehicle emergency call system (SVES). Calling the system operator can occur automatically (in case of an emergency), as well as manually. A microphone and speaker are used to communicate with the operator.
SOS – button to call the operator of the “ERA GLONASS” system. This is a push-button type switch with a non-fixed “on” position. The key press time to initiate an emergency call is 2 seconds.
In standby mode (with the ignition on), the system performs:
- carrying out self-diagnosis;
- reception of signals from GLONASS and GPS navigation satellite systems;
- constant time calculation;
- constant speed calculation;
- constant calculation of the direction of movement;
- constant calculation of the coordinates of the vehicle's location.
Automatic emergency call
- ERA-GLONASS system on a car: should it be installed in 2020? Principle of operation and legal advice
If airbags are deployed at the time of an accident, the system generates a minimum set of data (coordinates, vehicle movement parameters, time, vehicle VIN code and other information) that is necessary for emergency response, and transmits it to the operator of the ERA GLONASS system.
After the data is transferred, the operator is dialed for voice communication (the sound of the radio is muted automatically).
- During a call, the SOS key backlight flashes red.
- When transmitting a minimum set of data and during voice communication with the operator, the backlight of the “SOS” key lights up continuously in red.
Dialing is carried out only when the ignition is on.
Manual emergency call (SOS key)
Unlike the automatic mode, the manual mode is available not only when the ignition is on, but also for 72 hours after the ignition is turned off. To make an emergency call manually, press the “SOS” button on the interior lighting unit and hold it pressed for at least 2 seconds.
The system operation algorithm for a manual emergency call is similar (see automatic mode). To cancel a call, during a call (while the “SOS” button backlight is flashing red), press the “SOS” button again and hold for at least 2 seconds (the “SOS” button backlight will turn off).
You can see how this happens in the video:
It was also possible to test the ERA-GLONASS system in real conditions. After the Vesta crash test, the system automatically sent an accident signal to the dispatcher with the exact coordinates of the car:
Off mode
- We teach the immobilizer key for the Lada Priora with our own hands (video inside)
If the ignition is turned off and at least 72 hours have passed since it was turned off, the system switches to the “Off” mode. In this mode, the SOS button is not backlit and the system status indicator is off. When you press the “SOS” button, the system does not respond. To turn on the SVEOS, you must turn on the ignition.
Test mode
The testing mode is intended to check the functionality of the SVES components:
- SVEOS status indicator;
- microphone and speaker in the interior lighting unit;
- backup battery;
- other internal system components.
To start testing mode yourself you need to:
- make sure the engine is turned off;
- turn the key in the ignition switch (ЗЗ) to the “Ignition on” position and wait 1 minute;
- From the “Ignition on” position, switch the ignition switch 6 times between the “Ignition on” and “+ ACC” positions according to the algorithm described below for no more than 5 seconds:
№ | Initial position of the 3Z | Action to be performed | Final position of the 3Z |
1 | Ignition on | +ACC | |
2 | +ACC | Turning on the ignition (1) | Ignition on |
3 | Ignition on | +ACC | |
4 | +ACC | Turning on the ignition (2) | Ignition on |
5 | Ignition on | +ACC | |
6 | +ACC | Turning on the ignition (3) | Ignition on |
After the 3rd ignition switch (switching ZZ No. 6), the system goes into test mode if the engine did not start during the entry procedure. You should hear "Test procedure started." After the phrase “Say the control phrase,” you will need to say any phrase lasting no more than 5 seconds. Immediately after this, you will hear “Check Phrase Playing,” followed by the phrase you spoke.
The audio prompt “Enter your verification result” will then play. If testing of the microphone and speaker was successful, then it is necessary to switch 33 2 times according to the algorithm described below within no more than 3 seconds:
№ | Starting position 33 | Action to be performed | End position 33 |
1 | Ignition on | +ACC | |
2 | +ACC | Turning on the ignition | Ignition on |
If there were errors during testing (the spoken phrase was not reproduced, it was played back too quietly or with distortions, etc.), then after the words “Enter the test result,” no switches 33 need to be made for 7 seconds. In this case, contact your dealer to resolve the problem.
Backup battery
The SVEOS control unit contains a backup battery, which ensures the system’s functionality in the event of damage to the vehicle’s battery during an accident. When the ignition is turned on, the charge level of the backup battery is monitored, as well as recharging it if necessary. The service life of the backup battery is 3 years. The backup battery can only be replaced at certified service stations.

How to jam Glonass on a car using artificial interference?
Satellite signal jammers are not difficult to find - there are many of them, but understand here that by jamming the signal, the map of your movements will not go anywhere. After the connection is restored, the data will be automatically sent.
The same goes for shielding. When the sensors are covered with special materials, the signal disappears, although only distant satellites are jammed. Even if there is no connection, the data is saved and sent as soon as a connection appears.
There are such ways to bypass control, but one cannot expect a significant and expected result from them. Keep in mind that actions aimed at causing damage or circumventing control are subject to administrative violation. Therefore, think before you deceive Glonass.

How to take the test
Testing is easy. There are 4 ignition key positions. In position 1, the multimedia is turned on, 2 - the socket, 3 - the fuel pump, stove, dashboard and Glonass system are turned on.
- Leave the key in position 3 for 1 minute.
- Next, quickly turn the ignition off and on 3 times.
- The system will start up automatically and notify about the malfunction: “The testing procedure has been started, self-diagnosis is running.”
- After a few seconds, a message appears: “No errors found,” or indicates errors.
- The operator then says, “Microphone and speaker check in progress.” You are asked to say a control phrase.
- You must say some phrase of your choice.
- After a couple of seconds, this phrase should be heard in the speaker.
- The operator will ask you to confirm the successful completion of the test by turning the ignition switch to the “accessories” position and back.
- It further states that no errors were found and a test call is being made.
After this, the call rings a few times and the operator says that the test was successful and the call is ending. This completes the procedure for checking the operation of Era Glonass.
