November 30, 2015 Lada.Online 111 715 5

The manufacturer equips its LADA vehicles with an emergency response system in case of accidents “ERA GLONASS” or (SVEOS). The control unit is built into the navigation light on the ceiling and has several rows of buttons. Let's consider the capabilities of this system in more detail.

↑ Description and purpose of the complex

SVEOS is triggered at the time of a traffic accident. Sensors record how fast the car was moving, the force of the collision, the number of people in the cabin and how many of them were not wearing seat belts. The signal is transmitted via the mobile Internet or mobile communications in the form of SMS. The operator is additionally informed about the VIN, number, type of fuel in the gas tank, license plate and color of the car.

The device receives a call from the SVEOS duty officer to clarify the circumstances of the emergency. If the driver is unable to answer, the operator transmits information about the location of the car to the 112 service. Rescuers, ambulances, and traffic police officers travel to the specified coordinates.

This is how the system works when the engine is running and the ignition is on. If the car is not started, with the ignition turned off, then you can contact the ERA-Glonass center manually to receive assistance in case of an accident, breakdown, attempted theft, or attack.

Attention! To do this, press and hold for 2 seconds. SOS button. After hearing the dispatcher's response, report the problem and wait for help.

What problems does satellite navigation solve? You need to know

How Glonass works is easy to understand by carefully reading the following paragraphs. The device, using navigation and several installed sensors and controllers, allows for optimization of work for a transport corporation or taxi. These special sensors are called counters. So, these meters are installed on the fuel system, interact with the “brains”, as a result, information about the vehicle is displayed before the eyes of the company owner.

It becomes possible to control consumption, but remotely; monitoring allows you to find out whether the driver is driving to the left or not. Fuel control is important for management, because often drivers are not averse to draining a certain amount of gasoline.

Navigation gives management an understanding of where the vehicle is, the time of movement, how the driver works, and so on. Based only on data on consumption, driving schedule, information about movement, it is possible to reduce the subjective factor. Responsibility increases, there are fewer leftists, they don’t break the rules, they don’t speed up the speedometer.

In addition, the vehicle’s condition, service life and operation are monitored. But all this is doable, taking into account the fact that the device itself is working and functioning correctly.

↑ How the rapid response system works

ERA-Glonass is an information and navigation complex that includes:

  • satellites;
  • network for information transmission;
  • device in the car.

Under the lighting hood, a mobile phone, microphone, loudspeaker and sensors are installed in the car.

How exactly does ERA-Glonass work on the Lada Vesta? The car device recognizes and transmits the direction of impact (frontal, side, rear), and its force. Then, through Glonass or GPS satellites, it determines the coordinates and contacts the contact center via an emergency call line. The amount of information transmitted includes information about the car (numbers, color, type of fuel) and the condition of road users (whether the airbag was deployed).

The driver has the ability to make a call manually. The data transfer algorithm remains the same as in automatic mode.

The SVEOS operator calls the victims and clarifies information about the accident. If there is no answer to the call, then it sends a call to services 112, 02, 03.

Is it possible to disable the module?

The system is designed in such a way that it cannot be blocked or disabled. Any interference with the operation of the device will be regarded as changes to the design of the vehicle, which is fraught with penalties.

↑ Control unit of the Era-Glonass system on a Lada Vesta car

In a car, the warning device is built into the interior lighting unit above the driver's head.

The lighting part and the SVEOS are located on opposite sides, which makes it impossible to confuse the keys.

At the top right and left are the microphone and loudspeaker. In the center, between them, there is a button to call SOS in case of an emergency in manual mode.

Under the emergency call button there is a paired lighting button: on the right - to turn on the light in the cabin when the doors are closed, on the left - when the doors are open.

Below, in the center, there are 3 indicators that light up:

  • in red when the seat belt is not fastened (left);
  • yellow when the airbag is not turned on (right);
  • red for a short time when the ignition is turned on, indicating that Era-Glonass is in good condition, or permanently (if there is a malfunction).

Two side buttons next to each other and three buttons below regulate the lighting of the driver's and front passenger's seats.

The SVEOS unit operates from a car battery and has its own battery, which is used when the car device fails. While the vehicle is moving, the state of the battery is determined and it is recharged. The battery must be replaced after 3 years at a service station certified by AvtoVAZ.

How to get and install a button in your car

Many drivers currently do not properly understand what the Glonass button is for. After all, there is a mobile phone on which you can call for help. But to call on their own, the victims must be conscious. And you don’t always have to rely on help from those passing by. The inability to call for help may also be due to a lack of cellular signal.

Moreover, half of the deaths in road accidents are associated with late provision of assistance. Therefore, installing a button is necessary for timely assistance in the event of an accident, because the signal is sent to the system automatically, without human intervention. The signal about an accident to the Glonass system and the response speed of services is 30% higher than when calling 112. Additionally, the 112 service dispatcher must explain where the injured vehicle is located. Whereas GLONASS determines the location automatically, and no time is wasted on explaining and searching for victims.

Therefore, many drivers install a panic button on their own car on a voluntary basis. Installation is possible on any type of transport. Qualified installation can be carried out by contacting a certified center. In the Russian Federation there is only one operator of the Glonass system, with which specialized centers enter into contracts. You can only get a certified set of equipment from them. The equipment is mounted discreetly and connected to the vehicle's on-board network or battery.

The wizard performs the following actions:

  • Selects a place in the vehicle to mount the control unit: inside the cabin, under the hood, in the luggage compartment.
  • Installs GPS and GSM antennas. The antenna is mounted with the active part parallel to the ground on any unshielded area of the car body. The GSM antenna is located at a distance of 1 meter from the GPS antenna.
  • Connects power: black drive - to the negative of the car, red - to the positive (through a special fuse.

The connection process is simple and takes little time. If necessary, you can connect additional sensors that will monitor the ignition, fuel level, etc.

↑ Guide to using the ERA-Glonass system

The system for calling emergency services in emergency situations, installed on the Lada Vesta, operates in two modes: automatic and manual.

Attention! Automatic configuration and data transmission in an emergency occurs when the ignition is on or the engine is running.

In the first seconds, the device carries out the following operations sequentially: conducts self-testing, picks up satellite signals, determines the real-time mode, and records the speed and direction. Based on the data received, it determines the coordinates of the vehicle's location.

The operator is provided with a minimum sufficient amount of information necessary to make a decision. He receives information: about the location of the car, the nature of its damage, possible injuries to road users, VIN, number, driving parameters before and after the collision. During the transmission of information to the contact center, the backlight of the emergency call button flashes.

When calling the operator:

  • The sound of the radio is automatically reduced;
  • the SOS key lights up intermittently red in standby mode;
  • During a conversation, the light is constantly on.

The operation of the system can be determined by the interaction of the SOS button and the antenna pointer. When the ignition is turned on, the white backlight on the request button lights up and the indicator lights up intermittently red for 5 seconds. In the mode of waiting for a call from the dispatcher, SOS blinks red, the indicator is off. During a conversation with the operator, the SOS key lights up, the indicator does not turn on.

Repair of additional Lada Vesta body electronics unit

In some configurations of the Lada Vesta (for example, Lux), an additional body electronics unit (EMM or comfort unit) is installed inside the panel, which is responsible for the operation of the dimensions, daytime running lights (DRL), and wipers. Under some circumstances, the external output circuits of the EMM may short circuit, causing the light sources to not operate. Let's figure out what can be done in this case.

Where the central body electronics unit (CBKE or BCM) and the additional body electronics unit (EMM) are located is shown in the photo:

↑ Manual emergency call of the operator on Lada Vesta

A manual request can be performed with the engine running, ignition on and off. During the autonomous period, its own battery is used. The system is operational for 3 days in the absence of ignition.

The driver must press the emergency call button and not release it for at least 2 seconds. The backlight turns white and then starts flashing red. The emergency warning system is launched: communication with satellite navigators is carried out, the nature of the vehicle’s movement, the position of the driver and passengers in the cabin (the condition of seat belts and airbags) are determined.

Then the coordinates of the vehicle's location are determined. The received data, as well as information about the VIN, number, color of the car, availability and type of fuel are transmitted to the operator via the Internet or mobile phone.

Within a few seconds after the call, a call is received from the ERA-GLONASS contact center. The operator clarifies whether the call is false, what problems have arisen, gives instructions on further actions and, if necessary, transmits data to the line “112”, 02, 03. During the entire voice communication, the key backlight glows without interruption.

Attention! To cancel a call, press the key again for 2 seconds until it goes out.

When calling the operator, report a false call.

AVTOVAZ instructions (unlocking circuits in EMM)

The EMM unit goes into defense. To unblock channels:

  1. Without removing the block from the EMM block, connect the connector with the wire to the white block, pin 3 (free).
  2. Connect the other end of the wire to the glove box illumination block (green wire).
  3. Turn on the ignition for 2-3 seconds.
  4. After turning off the ignition, remove the wire connection.
  5. Use Grade-X to clear errors in the EMM block.
  6. Check the functioning of the previously blocked circuit in the EMM unit.

Apparently, to unblock the circuits in the EMM block, you should apply 12 V to the 3rd pin of the EMM block for 2-3 seconds. Then reset the errors using a scanner, and this can be not only a Grade-X scanner. The order was posted by one of the users of www.lada-vesta.net.

The EMM unlocking process is also shown in the video:

↑ Disabling ERA Glonass on Vesta

The system turns off automatically if the car does not start for more than 72 hours. During this period, the battery's own battery discharges. ERA-Glonass goes into the “off” state. In this case, you will not be able to make an emergency call: when you press the SOS button, its backlight and indicator will not light up.

To independently turn off Era-Glonass, the driver needs to disconnect the power connector of the control unit. After 72 hours, the battery will run out and the system will no longer function. For temporary suspension, a radio wave suppressor is inserted into the cigarette lighter. Communication with navigation satellites will be interrupted, but will remain with the call center operator. In the event of an accident, it will be impossible to determine the exact location of the car.

Backup battery

The SVEOS control unit contains a backup battery, which is necessary to ensure the operation of the SVEOS in the event of damage to the vehicle battery during an accident.
When the ignition is turned on, the charge level of the backup battery is monitored, as well as recharging it if necessary. The service life of the backup battery is 3 years.

The backup battery can only be replaced by authorized dealers.

If faults are detected with the SVEOS, you should contact certified dealers to eliminate the fault.

↑ ERA-Glonass diagnostic system and its malfunctions

The complex runs a self-testing procedure that determines its functionality. The operation of the microphone, speaker, indicator, and communication with the operator must be checked. Before starting diagnostics, you must turn off the engine. Then the ignition is turned on and remains in this position for at least 60 seconds. This is followed by a three-time switch back and forth from the “on” to “accessories” position with an interval of 5 seconds.

After 15 sec. The phrase will sound: “The testing system has been launched.” The indicator indicating the antenna lights up red. A few moments later, the phrase is heard from the speaker: “No errors detected. The microphone and speaker are being checked." You will then be prompted to “Say the passphrase.” The duration of the control message should not exceed 5 seconds. You will hear: “Playing passphrase.” The spoken phrase will be heard from the loudspeaker.

The end of testing is recorded after the words: “Enter the test result.” After which you will be prompted to re-switch the ignition switch “on” - “accessories” back and forth (interval no more than 3 seconds). If diagnosing the microphone and loudspeaker is successful, the phrase sounds: “No errors found. Test call in progress." The call is made, after which the driver is informed that the terminal testing was successful, the call and procedure are completed.

The indicator, which had been glowing red all this time, goes out. During diagnostics, the call key flashes red during a call, and is constantly lit during a call. The multimedia system is switched off when there is a voice message.

Important! Malfunctions are determined by the operation of the key and indicator lamps.

To determine the performance of ERA-Glonass, you must wait 60 seconds. after turning on the ignition.

If there is no connection with satellites, the backlight of the call button first lights up in white in standby mode, and during dialing and voice communication it lights up in red. The indicator does not respond when turned on.

When the battery is low and there is no ignition, the key lights up first white and then red. The indicator does not turn on.

If there is no connection with the operator, the key and indicator light red.

A malfunction of system components can be indicated by the red illumination of the SOS button and the blinking of the indicator in the red range.
