I’ll show you the example of the Lada Granta FL “Classic Optima” configuration. This is one of the cheapest cars. Let's see how it changes and what it looks like after 4 thousand km. It is better to install a new filter that is not carbon, since with it the air pressure will be weaker and it will cost more.
To replace the cabin filter, you need to raise the wipers. But after this you will not be able to open the hood. That is, you need to remove the right wiper, then open the hood. Then you can raise the wiper arm up.
The filter is located on the right side as the car moves. It’s worse than using a Grant to replace it only with a Lada Vesta. It’s more convenient to change it on the “Korean” ones - open the glove compartment and get access to the cabin filter. It is inconvenient to change it here; if it is raining, snowing or frosty outside, then it is better to work in the garage.
First, remove the plastic casing. It is slightly modified when compared to the updated Grant. Before restyling there were no plugs that needed to be picked out. But with them the car looks more beautiful.
There are updated plastic linings, and the splash guards have been moved from the hood. The old Grants did not have injectors on the pads. The wiper still interferes with removing the cover, but it can be removed. Now we get access to the casing behind which the cabin filter is installed. To remove the casing, you need to unscrew two screws.
This is what the filter looks like; some drivers change it every 15 thousand km.
If you go to a dealer who doesn't particularly like to work, you'll be driving around with such garbage for a long time. He won't have to worry about removing the lining. After this, car owners say that for some reason the heater is not blowing. Why will she blow normally? The filter is completely clogged.
I bought the original filter in original packaging. But why does AvtoVAZ put a completely different type of it there? Without a plastic frame it will not fit well.

They have one advantage - they are cheap. We reassemble in reverse order. After checking the pressure of the stove, it is clear that it has become stronger. When you put your hand near the deflector, it is carried to the side. The difference is really noticeable. You will definitely need: a stationery knife, a spray bottle, an electric hair dryer, an alcohol solution (one hundred grams of pure alcohol for half a liter of water), a flexible scraper with a felt pad. We wash the headlight, wipe it with alcohol, and measure. Cut out the film with an overlap.
We treat with a water-alcohol solution using a spray bottle, direct the hair dryer and apply the film. Smooth the surface with a squeegee, expelling any remaining liquid and air. Cut off the excess part with a knife. The film will protect the surface from scratches, damage and decorate the appearance of the car. Technical nuances of tuning Grants
However, there is a certain audience that will choose the Lada Granta. Do-it-yourself modifications will not stand in the way of those who have been fans of the brand for many years or for those who simply do not yet have the money for a more advanced car. We are not inclined to think that instant technical tuning of a new car can bring any positive results. The car must be run in and get used to both the owner and the conditions, and after that it can be modified as necessary.
If we talk about the Granta engine, then there is no need to isolate it. Absolutely the entire AvtoVAZ model range uses engines of a similar design, originally from the twentieth century, and they, naturally, require modifications. It is useless to want enormous power from the imperfect engines of Tolyatti small cars. All we can do is make life easier for the engine, and it, in turn, will give us several horsepower, noticeable, however, only on bench measurements.
Replacing the cabin filter
I’ll show you what the cabin filter looks like on a Lada Granta. I drove 4000 km in six months, winter came. It is better to change the cabin filter every 6 months, taking into account the condition of the roads, dirt, and leaves. You will need: remove and disassemble the instrument cluster, SMD LEDs (unsoldered from LED strip or LED lamp), soldering iron.
The process of replacing LEDs on the instrument panel board consists of unsoldering the standard SMD LED and soldering a new one in its place. During such tuning, there are several important points to consider:
- take your time so as not to damage the conductive traces of the board;
- observe the polarity (SMD LEDs have a bevel on one side, install a new LED in the same position);
- do not overheat the LEDs; high temperatures may cause them to fail;
After soldering the required LEDs, it is recommended to check the backlight. To connect the instrument cluster at home, you need to apply +12V to pins 19 and 21, and ground to 17. The modern Nissan engine is equipped with many sensors, information from which is sent to the electronic control unit. He, in turn, based on the received information, makes adjustments to the operation of the engine systems.
Changes made to the operation of this unit at the software level are called chip tuning or “brain firmware”.
2 What does chip tuning give to Nissan Navara?
Today, you can find a Nissan Navara SUV on sale, equipped with two types of diesel power units.
YD25 Kai3:

Chip tuning for Nissan Navara allows you to remove the maximum speed limit and optimize the operation of the turbine. Thanks to a little modification, you can get rid of the “turbo pit” phenomenon.
In addition, tuning the car makes it possible to increase power and torque (within the limits set by the manufacturer) and stabilize the engine in idle mode.

Engine chip tuning
During chip tuning, the security systems installed by the manufacturer remain active. The engine load limit is not exceeded.

3 Chip tuning box
In the engine modification market they offer the installation of a tuning box. This proposal is especially attractive because such installation can often be done independently. The tuning box connects to the pressure sensor and lowers its readings. Before installing the box, Nissan Navara owners need to take into account that such a modification is not capable of:
- limit the maximum engine torque;
- remove the maximum speed limit;
- turn off the particulate filter;
- control the operation of the turbine;
- turn off the EGR system.
To maintain the factory warranty on the Nissan Navara, it is necessary to carry out licensed chip tuning.
The software for the control unit in these cases was developed by the manufacturer's engineers. Such services are provided by official Nissan dealers.

Adjustment
This is a required step. Lenses in xenon headlights require adjustment after installation - this is the only way to achieve efficiency from these devices and not dazzle oncoming drivers. To set up, you need a flat vertical surface, a tape measure and something to mark the wall.
The machine is placed as close to the wall as possible. What happens next? A line is drawn on the wall surface that corresponds to the vertical axis of the machine. Then you need to drive away to a distance of 7.5 meters.
Using a tape measure, measure the distance from the ground to the center of the lens. Next, measure the distance from the lens to the vertical axis of the machine. Then a point is found on the wall, which is located at the level of the headlights. From this point, another horizontal line is drawn 3.5 centimeters downward. Two lines are lowered onto it perpendicularly - they must correspond to the centers of both lenses. The headlights are adjusted using a corrector so that the light beam is clearly at the intersection of the horizontal and vertical marks. This is how the lenses in headlights are adjusted for xenon.
Instrument panel testing
You can find out the version of the instrument panel by self-testing, during which all instrument panel systems will be automatically tested, indicating its model and firmware version.
We test the instrument panel as follows:
1. With the ignition off, press the daily mileage reset button (small pin on the dashboard);
2. Turn on the ignition while holding the daily mileage reset button;
3. While the arrows are moving up and down, release the daily mileage reset button and briefly press it again.
How to read data:
1. The first line is the firmware version of the instrument panel.
2. The second line is the model of the instrument panel.
