Good day everyone. I haven’t written a user manual yet, maybe I will write later. Anything happened to the car while he was running.
For some reason, few people put roof rails on grants, but having a sedan body is not a whim, but a necessity. So I decided to write about it, maybe it will be useful to someone.
I purchased LADA GRANTA “E” roof rails from the bagazhniki.pro store (St. Petersburg), arrived without calling, it turned out that what I needed was in stock, but it was just luck, in general I have to call and order. Price 3050 rub. Set with crossbars.
So, the nuances that are either not written about at all or little attention is paid to them:
— the head of the roof rail fastening bolts is too big and you have to bend the rubber sealing fasteners (on the car frame);
— the same fastener of the sealing rubber has to be bent in order to insert the rubber into place, precisely at the place where the roof rails are attached to the roof;
— no matter how hard you try, the rubber seal will be at the fastening point (3 places) higher, and will rub against the top of the door, whether this is bad and what the danger is, I don’t know, time will tell, I sprayed everything generously with silicone;
— I was unable to achieve a perfect fit of the roof rails, the rear is fine, but in the front, since there is only one attachment point, the far edge moves a little away from the fastener (maybe it’s just me who has this problem);
— along with the roof rails there was a hex wrench that was used to tighten everything, and the same key came with the crossbars, both of them were torn off at the first tightening, they weren’t even disposable, you have to have your own tool;
— the crossbars of the roof rails are incredibly long for some reason, this is strange, because this kit is for specific cars, I sawed off the extra length (about 30 cm), since I don’t plan to drive with crossbars all the time, and they didn’t fit into the trunk, and the appearance with such long hanging edges, not so much;
— the crossbars whistle and howl at speeds above 90, it is better to install them only for transporting goods, the rest of the time they will not take up much space in the trunk.
Now for the good stuff. Externally they look good. Everything is made well, of high quality, and looks very durable. Very easy to install. The price is quite reasonable. All mounting bolts included.
The car is dark blue, I chose black roof rails, since silver is generally only on the wheels (and only for now) and on the radiator grille. However, it seems to me that silver ones would also look good on a dark car. The crossbars included in the kit are in any case silver.
In fact, I don’t remove the crossbars; I drive with them all the time. I’ve already carried a lot of different things, and I’m going to install a bike rack on them this summer.
During operation, I noticed the following problems: although the crossbars are tightly tightened, they still squirm a little if you pull them, since with the rails they are attached with only two bolts, one on the left and one on the right; It is inconvenient to clean snow from the roof without removing the crossbars.
