Unlike rear brake pads, front brake pads are replaced more often. This is due to the fact that they bear the main load during braking. Not only the braking efficiency, but also whether they will creak during operation depends on the quality of the brake pads. Do you know which pads are best for Vesta?

The brake pad consists of a metal plate and a special lining made of friction materials. The quality of this material determines the wear resistance, rigidity and friction coefficient of the brake pad. The higher these important parameters, the better.

Features of original LADA Granta brake pads
The supply of pads to the AvtoVAZ conveyor is carried out by JSC TIIR, Russia’s leading manufacturer of friction products for cars and trucks.
21100-3501800-83
The peculiarity of the markings of brake pads from “TIIR” is that the pads themselves have an internal factory number, and are supplied to the market with “VAZ” numbers. For example, components intended for the retail market under the Lada Sport brand are marked 21100-3501800-83, while the serial number 2108-3501080-05 is stamped on the pads themselves.
It is important to note that since 2012, TIIR JSC began producing front brake pads 1118-3501090 from the TIIR-295 composite material for Grant, Priora and Kalina cars. These pads, as mentioned above, do not have anti-squeak plates; a special mastic is applied to the back of the pads, designed to level out noise and vibration during braking.
Many car enthusiasts note that such “cheapening” of products does not bring the desired result; moreover, with frequent intense braking, the surface of the lining “glazes over”. This leads to an excessive increase in the coefficient of friction in the disc/pad pair and, accordingly, to accelerated wear of the brake disc.
But in 2013, the company improved the technology and began producing front brake pads 2192-3501090-10 from the TIIR-299 composite material with multilayer Nulok anti-squeak plates, for Lada Granta 2192/2194 and their modifications.

Review by Plisov A.:
"Good afternoon! In 2014 I wrote to you: Good health, Natalya! The pads are installed and rolled in. I can say that I did not even expect such improvements. The brakes really work! Thank you very much!!! I wish your company, by supplying only high-quality and effective pads to the assembly line and (very important) the secondary market, to push all imported trash out of the market! So that car owners can say with confidence: - If there are pads, then only TIIR! And today on our forum I read the following words:
Sincerely, A. Plisov.
Feedback from Mospanyuk I.S.:
"Good afternoon. I leave a comment about the use of disc brake brake pads part. 2192-3501090-11 made of TIIR-299 composite. When installing the pads, I had regular standard brake discs without serrations, and with such brake discs, the pads served very well. Afterwards Alnas Euro Sport 14 brake discs were installed, and after that the pads began to wear out very quickly. After installation on such discs, the pads began to wear out very quickly, and the dark coating on the wheel rims from the pads also increased. In terms of braking quality, I really liked these pads, they are much better than the 260 model. No extraneous sounds or creaks were detected over 8 months. I will definitely install the same pads for the next ones. Thank you for the opportunity to participate in pad testing. "
Review by Sergei Titov:
"Hello! Front brake pads TIIR-505 were installed on a LADA GRANT car, model 1, 2013. (sedan, automatic transmission, brake system with ABS) at the beginning of October 2022. The pads traveled ~2200 km. (70% of the mileage is on the highway). The car is equipped with ventilated brake discs 14" transmaster professional 2112-3501070 (their mileage before installing the TIIR pads was 5600 km), the brake system is fully operational, the brake fluid is fresh. Lubricant PFG110 LUCAS/TRW - used only for brake caliper guide pins. Alloy wheels R14 (with the exact parameters permitted by the manufacturer), studded winter tires 175/65R14. The brake system has not been subjected to any modification or tuning. Pads that were installed before: Factory TIIR-295 1118-3501090 manufacturing date 13/03/11 (indicated on the pad) - replacement due to a strong grinding noise when braking. hankook frixa fpe103 manufacturing date 08.2014 (indicated on the block) - replacement due to severe wear of the brake discs and the brake discs themselves. There was a lot of dust. ferodo premier fdb527 - replacement due to a strong persistent squeak when braking (but the pads were manufactured a long time ago ~ 2007-2008) Impressions from TIIR-505: 1. The pads do not generate dust (the rims remain clean). The calipers fit tightly into the brake caliper, there is no click when releasing the brake pedal (present on the hankook frixa fpe103 pads) 2. After ~500 km, at the end of braking (when coasting in a traffic jam), a creaking (tolerable, but almost constant) and a slight grinding sound appeared (appears periodically). The creaking of the pads does not depend on the ambient temperature and the presence/absence of precipitation; it appears as the brake system warms up. 3. After a run of 1200 km, traces were noticeable on the brake discs, as if the brake pad material had been “smeared” onto the brake disc. After 2000 km this phenomenon disappeared. 4. Rating of the TIIR-505 product is good. Braking is quite predictable, I will monitor the wear of the brake discs (there is none yet).”
Review by Vasin A.N.
“A year has passed since the use of TIIR-299 front brake pads.
The mileage was about 14,500 km. Highway-city is about 50/50.
For me, an ordinary driver, the pads do their job well in everyday use. I don't have any complaints about the braking system as a whole. I was not involved in an accident, the car brakes as expected and adequately. True, I drive very carefully and keep my distance from the car in front. There were no skids or jamming of the brakes. Everything is great in terms of driving and braking performance.
I did not notice any noticeable eating of the brake discs by the pads. I also did not notice any significant wear on the pads. I think they can easily travel for another two years by car.
The only complaints I have about the pads are that sometimes there are squeaking sounds. About once every couple of weeks. Moreover, the event is completely random. Whether it is dirty, wet, dry, cold or hot is not important for the manifestation of sound. Considering the rarity of this event, you can close your eyes to it. TIIR-295 - previous pads - squeaked more often. Moreover, the sounds from them were the first 5,000 km of the new car, then they died down, and the sounds continued to appear after 25,000 kilometers.
So if a set of front brake pads TIIR-299 costs around 700-1000 rubles, then I think that you can buy them. The pads are ideal for everyday use.
Thank you!
Sincerely, Vasin A.N.”
We invite you to read the review by A. Plisov based on the results of testing pads with ceramic linings in the disc brake assembly part. 2195-3501090 made of composite material TIIR-505 (NAO):
“Since the installation of the TIIR-505 pads, their mileage has been 7,000 km. We can already draw conclusions. And the conclusions were formed from the very moment of installation and never changed.
The pads are very grippy. There is no discomfort either when pressing the pedal lightly or when pressing hard. The deceleration of the car is easily measured.
Naturally, after the previous pads, from which all the discs were covered in black dust, these pads were simply clean.
According to the “sound” accompaniment. Some unobtrusive voice sometimes still wakes up at the very end of braking. This does not create any discomfort.
By wear. Pads and discs wear evenly. There are few specifics regarding the progress of grinding the friction linings, because I did not measure the thickness of the new and partially worn linings. Visually there is minimal wear.
Thank you very much for the copies provided! These are worthwhile products with excellent performance even on a 2008 car. I think that on modern Ladas, where the more efficient VUT is already used, the braking performance will be even better with these pads.
TRW GDB 469M, ATE 13.0460-2965.2 cannot be compared with your products. The main disappointment with them is braking from high speeds. After the friction material warms up, the brakes simply float - the pressure on the pedal is incredible, and the deceleration of the car is very low - it continues to roll without ABS triggering.
With TIIR everything is logical - you press the pedal at any speed and the car slows down (the ABS is activated). It would be nice to write down your feelings right away. which are then simply forgotten, but there seems to be a difference in efficiency depending on the degree of heating of the pads. It seems that with warming up, the efficiency even increases.”
Rear pads for Grants
Lada Granta rear brake pads with number 2108-3502090 are also equipped on VAZ 2110, Kalina, Priora and Samara cars that do not have an ABS system.
Rear brake pads on Grants with ABS are numbered 21920-3502090-10. For retail, product code 21920-3502090-55 is used.
They differ from the previous ones by the presence of a hole for the wheel rotation sensor. Identical components are used on VAZ 2110, second generation Kalina, Priora, Samara cars with an anti-lock brake system.
These clutches are supplied to the AvtoVAZ conveyor by JSC TIIR. The TIIR-444 composite overlay itself is marked with article number 2192-3502105. The improved composition of the linings is designed to increase the tenacity of the rear brakes especially for cars with ABS.

Analogues of brake pads for Lada Granta
The products of the German company ATE enjoy the greatest popularity and positive reviews among analogues. These front pads under article number 13.0460-2965.2 work well in tandem with the original brake disc in all operating modes.
In second place in popularity and quality are Lucas/TRW products. Front brake pads with article number GDB 1446 have a built-in electronic wear sensor for vehicles in the Luxury configuration. Their price is slightly higher than that of TRW GDB 469 pads, which are also an analogue for replacement. It is important to note that there are lower quality TRW GDB 469M pads available for sale, produced at a factory in China using cheaper technology.
Prices and articles of other popular analogues are presented in the table:

Which brake pads to choose
About a month ago I wrote a topic in which I shared the problem I had with the front brake pads. The essence of this malfunction was as follows: when braking, even not sharply, a terrible creaking began to appear. Since I changed the linings quite recently, I thought that they were either rusty, since my Kalina practically did not drive in winter, or some kind of pebble hit, which was the source of this sound.
DETAILS: How diesel injectors are diagnosed and repaired
But after looking more closely at the pads and discs, it became clear that there was no rust at all, and no foreign bodies either. Meanwhile, the creaking became stronger and stronger. I decided to remove the front wheel and take a closer look at what was wrong.
Ferodo
After reading a lot of reviews about this brand on the Internet, especially on Drive, I was already thinking about purchasing spare parts from this company. Everyone praised them, both the green and the red packaging, but there were also some owners who were very dissatisfied with these details.
Fake production, such as AvtoVAZ
As you probably already guessed, I drove just 8,000 kilometers on these pads, after which they turned into black dust left on the disks of my Kalina. I remember I picked them up at the car market for a price of about 230 rubles. And as the seller assured me, it was exactly the original from AvtoVAZ, which I, of course, later doubted, because my factory ones went about 30,000 km and weren’t even half worn out, but I’ll tell you why I replaced them a little later.
Factory pads produced by AvtoVAZ
As for the service life, I have no complaints here at all, in this they completely suit me. Judge for yourself, they spent 30 thousand and could have served just as long. But there are huge complaints about the quality of braking; to put it mildly, there was none at all.
I remember there were several cases when it was difficult to avoid a collision in city traffic. While I pressed the brake pedal with all my might, the car continued to float without noticeable slowdown. It was after several such cases that I decided to change it, but as it turned out, I ended up with a fake.

When the above options disappeared for reasons already known to you, I decided to wander through the forums of foreign car owners, and since I am a fan of the Volvo brand, I went to their club and read what kind of pads were on these cars from the factory. And according to many owners, their front and rear brake pads came from the factory from ATE.
Well, I decided that if the safest cars in the world have such brakes, then they would also be an ideal option for Kalina. And now a few words about the impressions after installation. The first few kilometers, of course, there were no special changes, since they were still new and had not gotten used to it, but then everything became just super.
Now, just before the speed bump, I brake and the car stops dead in its tracks, there are no sounds even close. As for efficiency, everything is just perfect here; I have not yet seen better brakes. But I can’t say anything about their service life yet, since I’ve only driven them a little over a thousand kilometers.
And one more plus after installing them - the discs again became perfectly smooth, like new, otherwise they were corrugated from old defective parts, all in grooves. As soon as I drive the first 10,000 km on the ATE, I will definitely write about the results, subscribe and follow the blog updates. Thank you for your attention!
What brake pads are best for the Lada Granta?
Independent tests of TIIR-299 pads paired with original Autoreal ventilated brake discs show the optimal friction coefficient ratio = 0.49, in contrast to the “green” Ferodo with a friction coefficient of = 0.20 and Allien Nippon pads with a coefficient of = 0.23.
The only not very pleasant nuance with these original pads is the “burning” of the top layer of the lining during heating cycles up to 650 degrees Celsius. Because of this, the effectiveness of “cold” braking is slightly reduced and the load on the brake disc increases, but your brakes will not “leak” during frequent emergency braking from high speeds, which can happen with “softer” analogues of brake pads on the Lada Granta!
TIIR 299 pads
If you do not have the opportunity to buy original non-counterfeit TIIR pads, or you want to purchase the best brake pads for the Lada Granta, then you should pay attention to clutches produced by ATE, Lucas/TRW, Brembo, Finwhale, Valeo, Pilenga.
Many car enthusiasts note that a large number of TRW brake pads and brake discs for AvtoVAZ cars are of Chinese origin, not to mention products from other brands. Therefore, it is better to buy original spare parts or analogues from trusted suppliers, be sure to check the product for counterfeit.
If you believe the reviews of Lada Grant owners on PartReview, then TIIR pads are not the best choice - there are more negative and neutral reviews than positive ones. In the [rating](https://partreview.ru/auto/vaz-60/granta-1140/tormoznye-kolodki-40/ “reviews of brake pads for Lada Granta”) they take last place, as of 30.0320.
Replacing front brake pads in Lada Kalina
The choice of front brake pads should be treated carefully, since the spare parts market is saturated with low-quality and counterfeit goods. Thus, it is necessary to check the presence of holograms and branded packaging. Inside the box there is always an instruction manual that states who made it and the composition of the friction part.
So, let's look at what front pads are best to use on the Lada Kalina.
Original spare parts
Let's start with the original part from AvtoVAZ. The catalog number of the part by which the search is performed looks like this - 2110-3501080. These are the same pads that are installed on the VAZ 2110 and Priora. The factory decided not to change the structure of the front brakes. Their cost is 400 rubles per set.
Analogs
Now, let's look at possible analogues that can be installed instead of the original brake pads on the Lada Kalina.
Based on the experience of motorists and the recommendations of experts, there are several manufacturers that deserve special attention. They make high-quality pads, and their service life, as practice shows, is 30,000 km.
Tuning kits
It is worth considering an alternative option for choosing pads - tuning. Only a few manufacturers produce spare parts for Kalina, which do not require alteration of the chassis. The most famous are: Brembo, Delphi and Feredo. The pads are mounted on standard seats.
For lovers of complete tuning, it offers a complete set of brake systems, which includes: brake discs, calipers and pads. Of course, for full efficiency, it is worth installing everything in one set.
One of the first things that it is advisable to do after purchasing a Lada Kalina is replacing the front brake pads. And the sooner the better, since standard ones installed at the factory wear out the brake disc a lot.
To work we need the following tool:
- Jack;
- Balloon wrench;
- Flat head screwdriver;
- Pliers;
- Open-end wrench 17;
- Socket or open-end wrench 13;
- A pipe clamp or barb (preferably, but not required);
- A couple of bricks)).
Time to complete all operations for replacing pads: from 30 minutes.
At the plant, “TIIR” pads are installed on Lada Kalina.
I chose Lucas TRW pads as they have proven themselves among car enthusiasts.
Let's start replacing the pads on the left wheel.
While the wheel is on the ground, loosen the four bolts, otherwise in a suspended state, when you try to unscrew the bolts, the wheel will rotate.
DETAILS: How to clean the stove radiator without removing it? Cleaning, washing
Do not press the brake pedal while performing work!
Considering that new pads are thicker than worn ones, when replacing the brake system, fluid will be forced out of the brake system into the storage tank, therefore, if the brake fluid level is at the MAX mark and if the old pads are pretty worn out, it is necessary to temporarily remove some of the fluid using syringe.
Before lifting the left front wheel with a jack, you need to place two bricks under the rear right wheel in order to prevent the machine from rolling away during work and subsequent tipping over from the jack.
The jack must be rested on a special platform “1″ (see photo) or “2″. Pressing in other places may cause damage to the vehicle body.
The photo shows that the disc, even after a short run, has grooves. Rust on the disc is normal.
To raise the caliper, you need to unscrew the bolt “1” with a 13 wrench. Bend the locking plate with a screwdriver and pliers and hold the nut “2” (with a 17 open-end wrench) from turning. Since the pads being removed are a little worn, you need to recess the brake piston (indicated in the photo by a red rectangle).
The hand force may not be enough to press the piston. To do this, you can use a clamp or pipe wrench.
Another option: leave one block on the inside, and insert a large flat-head screwdriver into the place indicated by the red arrow in the photo. We rest the blade of the screwdriver against the non-working part of the brake disc (closer to the axis) and, acting with the screwdriver as a lever, pull the screwdriver handle towards ourselves, thereby moving the caliper towards us relative to the disc and, accordingly, pressing the brake piston.
We install new pads in place of the old ones, lower the caliper, tighten the bolt and bend the safety plate to prevent the bolt from unscrewing spontaneously.
We adjust the steering wheel straight, install the wheel on the guide pins, and fasten the four bolts without tightening them. Lower the jack and tighten the bolts thoroughly.
We repeat the same for the other wheel.
If you drained the brake fluid, fill it back into the reservoir to the “MAX” level.
Brake pads must be changed simultaneously on the left and right sides to prevent uneven braking force on the wheels, which can lead to the car pulling to the side or skidding when braking.
Immediately after installing new pads, before they rub against the disc. braking efficiency decreases sharply, this must be kept in mind while driving!
After installing new brake pads, you need to grind them in during the first 200 km, i.e. If possible, avoid pressing the brake pedal intensively by reducing speed in advance. This is especially important in the first kilometers after replacement.
