Wiper leads from Priora for VAZ 2110, 2111, 2112

Priora » Maintenance and repair
Is the windshield wiper noisy, moves jerkily, and does it leave dirty streaks on the glass? These are all signs of worn windshield wiper blades. To select a replacement for a worn part, you need to know its dimensions.

Below - about the sizes of wipers for LADA Priora in sedan, station wagon, hatchback bodies, as well as how to replace them yourself.

Original dimensions of wipers for Lada Priora

Lada Priora
Length of the driver's windshield wiper: 508 mm (20 inches). Passenger wiper length: 508 mm (20″). Fastening type - hook.

Priora has the running dimensions of wipers and a common mount, so the choice of windshield wipers for it is quite wide.

In addition, since when cleaning the glass with original-sized wipers, a decent gap remains on the glass, car owners install larger brushes to increase the cleaning area of the windshield. There are different options here: 550 + 500, 530 + 530, 530 + 510, 530 + 500.

Design of the Priora wiper system

A wiper motor is required to operate the windshield wiper arm system. It is located under the windshield and is connected through a shaft to the wiper arm system. The motor and gearbox are protected by a closed housing from dust and moisture.

The windshield wiper includes a gear motor, levers and the brushes themselves. Its three-brush motor is equipped with a thermobimetallic fuse for overload protection. Radio interference is reduced using capacitors and chokes.

The windshield washer consists of a fixing unit, a pressure block and a brush. The fastening system is usually removable with an integral pin. The entire structure is connected by an adapter; its successful functioning coordinates the entire operation of the purifier. The working elements (plastic and metal arcs) move due to the pressure block. Brushes are attached to the ends of these elements, which clean the surface of the glass.

How to remove without a puller

Actually, there are a lot of instructions on the Internet on how to do this without any side tools.

The procedure is approximately this:

  • Unscrew the nut and remove
  • The leash will sit very firmly, especially if the car has a long mileage, say 100,000 kilometers
  • We try to remove it, but it won’t come off. I would like to note that it works for some, but judging by the reviews, only 10% of them do.
  • WD-40 into the connection so that it acidifies a little. I stood there for about 2 – 3 hours and nothing worked
  • We knock on the connection to loosen it a little. This is done with whatever is at hand, I personally get this feeling. Some with a mallet, some with a hammer, others with a wrench and so on. IT DIDN'T WORK FOR ME.
  • After all these manipulations, we are trying to pull off the holder, but someone lifts the brush up and pulls it! Some people simply pull the eyelet itself, others put the nut back on and pull the eyelet up and the blade itself down (it turns out like a lever). BUT the damn thing was just sitting there, like it was boiled, and it turned sour, so sour.
  • There is one last point. Someone is trying to place a block next to the wiper and pry it with something metal! This is good if you have a body nearby, that is, metal, but I have plastic and it’s almost impossible to do this

Let me say this, some people can remove the leash with their own hands! Others don't. In general, on DRIVE they write that it is better to go to a service station and they will take everything down for you. Now let's move on to the most interesting part.

Frameless windshield wipers for Priora

Of the frameless kits, I would probably immediately recommend the Bosch Aerotwin Retrofit AR 532 S brushes (article 3397118986). These windshield wipers are recommended by the manufacturer for Priora, and they just have an extended driver blade (530 mm + 500 mm). They are made in Belgium, they are reliable, durable, easy to clean and do not creak. Read more about Bosch Aerotwin.

You can also consider piece brushes from Bosch . You can install a pair of Aerotwin Retrofit AR 20 U 500 mm brushes (article 3397008535). As an option, two Aerotwin Retrofit brushes: AR 21 U and AR 20 U with a length of 530 mm and 500 mm, respectively (article 3397008536 + 3397008535).

Buy: → 500 mm, → 530 mm.

Among the more budget-friendly options for frameless brushes, pay attention to the wipers of the Canadian manufacturer Rainblade (article 358356 + 358349) - two brushes 530 and 510 mm.

Buy: → 530 mm, → 510 mm.

Instructions for replacing wipers on a Priora

There is nothing complicated in the procedure for replacing wipers on a Priora. It is only important to take into account some features of the process, namely:

  1. First you need to move the leash away from the windshield and fix it in this position. To avoid the possibility of the leash folding arbitrarily, place a thick cloth on the windshield.
  2. If you are removing frame wipers on a Priora, then you should press a special latch, as shown in the photo below.

  3. Then pull the windshield wiper blade down, thereby disengaging it from the hook of the leash.

  4. If you need to remove the frameless brushes, then you should press the special latches on both sides and move the folding latch to the side.

  5. After this, to remove the wiper, you need to press on it, and thereby disengage it from the hook of the leash.

  6. There are also frameless wipers that use a different method of attaching them (the HOOK type of attachment, but the removal method is different). Let's look at how such brushes are removed below.
  7. First you need to move the brush to the side relative to the leash and find the latch, which is shown by the arrow in the photo.

  8. Press the latch and pull the wiper down.
  9. Installing wipers is easier. To do this, you need to insert the product with the fastening part into the hook and insert it until it clicks.

The video below shows the process of dismantling frameless wipers on VAZ cars.

This completes the expert instructions for replacing windshield wipers on a Priora, and with its help you can perform the appropriate manipulations not only correctly, but also quickly. It is important to remember that such devices on a car are consumable items that should be changed in a timely manner when appropriate symptoms occur. After replacing it yourself, you will understand that operating a car with new windshield wiper blades is much more comfortable, enjoyable and, most importantly, safer.

Another relevant and weather-appropriate modification. I decided to replace the standard wiper arms with ones without a spoiler. I considered the option of installing leashes from Chevy Niva, but in the end I settled on leashes from Priora. To begin with, I decided to change only one left leash, because... It was the left wiper that began to clean poorly. I haven’t changed the right leash yet, because... it does its job, and the spoiler on it is not at all big compared to the one on the left. In place of the left leash, I decided to put the right one from Priora, because... the lower edge of the left prior of the leash is pulled up and the wiper does not lie parallel to the lower edge of the glass, sticking out ugly. This is done to ensure that the glass cleaning area on the left is parallel to the jay.

I bought a leash made by Avtopribor for 300 rubles.

The inscription on the box proudly states that these are the leashes that are supplied to the assembly line.

It turns out that there are no slots on the leads; they appear during the installation process. At the moment of tightening, the slots on the trapezoid push through the soft metal of the leash.

There are two springs on the stock leash, while on the Priora leash there is only one, but more powerful.

The Priora leash is much lighter, I think this will have a positive effect on the speed of movement of the wipers.

When I tried to put the brush on the leash, an unpleasant surprise awaited me. At the place where the brushes were attached, the new leash turned out to be slightly thicker than the old one, and the brush refused to sit in place. I didn’t file or sharpen anything, but simply planted the brush on the leash with brute force, using a vice.

The upper leash is about 1mm thicker.

The right, standard wiper, thanks to the short spoiler, is not particularly noticeable.

The Priora leash, in my opinion, looks neater than the tenth leash.

The glass cleaning area has not changed, just as the brush did not reach about 5cm to the end of the glass, and still does not reach it.

In the photo you can see the cleaning area.

Conclusions Priora's leash presses the brush noticeably more strongly, but I think this is not due to its design, but simply because it is new. The speed of the wipers does not seem to have changed.

For myself, I noted the following advantages. Priora leash looks better. (for my taste of course) At high speed the wipers should return faster. Less obstruction to the view. The attachment to the trapezoid looks nicer. This fact is the only disadvantage I noticed.

Due to the new fastening, installation requires a socket wrench; you can’t get there with an open-end wrench, because... The nut turns out to be recessed in the body of the driver. In my case, because of this I had to partially remove the frill overlay.

About the puller

I was simply afraid of breaking not only the “leash” itself, but also the engine, the rod, and something else. But here everything is calculated in thousands of rubles. For example, the holder itself for my AVEO costs 2100 rubles, that is, a pair of 4200 - to put it mildly, FUCKING! Now imagine if you break something inside! I'm just afraid to guess how much it will cost.

Therefore, I went to the service station and decided to remove it there, but it turned out to be not such an easy task. The thing is that there are pullers for bearings, such as hubs. BUT, they are simply too big and don’t fit. There are other options for generator bearings, they are smaller, but still large for me and I can’t get close.

By the way, these devices are available with three legs and two, you need to take exactly two (for my car personally), and I think this option will be useful for many.

One master said, “you need a generator puller from VAZ, it’s miniature and just right.” I spent half an hour on the Internet and found a small, universal one with two grips.

I went to the official service center, they have all the equipment, but they charged about 500 “our wooden ones” for both. They just get impudent. So I decided to find it myself in spare parts.

Sold in a large network of automobile stores throughout Russia. The total cost is 159 rubles. It’s called “2-BASE SMALL TRANSFER PULLER.” I won’t tell you about the store so that they don’t think it’s an advertisement, but they can be found in many auto parts stores.

Price comparison

For comparison, we took prices from one well-known mass online store. This will reduce the impact of pricing by different companies on cost variation.

Comparison of prices for wipers on Priora

As can be seen from the graph, the most expensive are hybrid Denso. Frameless Bosch and Rainblade are 20-30% cheaper. Frame brushes are noticeably cheaper than frameless brushes.

Which wipers to choose

There are four types of wipers:

  • frame,
  • frameless,
  • hybrid,
  • winter.

Frame

This is a classic design based on a rigid frame. It presses the eraser evenly onto the glass. Thanks to this, there are no uncleaned stripes left on the surface. The frame consists of two or three levers and hinges, to which plates with a cleaning rubber are attached.

Advantages:

  • low price,
  • it is possible to replace the cleaning gum,
  • sold at any auto accessories store,
  • universal.

Flaws:

  • at speeds greater than 90 km/h, the quality of cleaning decreases due to the oncoming air flow;
  • unpleasant design.

Frameless

As the name suggests, this type of brushes does not have a frame. Its function is performed by a curved steel plate hidden inside a plastic case. Some models have a special cast, shaped like a wing.

Advantages:

  • identical cleaning quality at any speed;
  • nice design.

Flaws:

  • price;
  • are not universal, since the bend of the body is developed taking into account the bend of the glass of a particular car model.

Hybrid

They combine the design features of the two previous types: a metal frame and a plastic casing. This design allows you to get rid of the main drawback of frame brushes: poor cleaning of glass at high speed.

Advantages:

  • high quality cleaning,
  • Beautiful design.

Flaws:

  • price,
  • Snow accumulates under the casing.

Winter

The cleaning gum of winter brushes does not harden in the cold thanks to special additives. Structurally, they can be framed, frameless and hybrid.

Possible reasons

Wiring

Disconnect the windshield wiper wiring harness. Next, we need a tester to check for the presence of current on this block.

(Diagram A) at terminal 6 there should be a voltage of about 12 volts (depending on the state of charge of the battery), ground 4, fuse 4 and 5 (in the mounting block in the diagram), switch, ignition switch, etc.

As a rule, the absence of any contact indicates oxidation of the wires in the mounting block, so carefully study the diagram and strip the necessary wires.

Removing the windshield wiper trapezoid assembly with the motor on a Priora

The first step is to remove the wiper arms, as well as the rubber seal on the top of the hood. After this, using a thin knife, we pry off the decorative plugs, under which there are screws securing the frill.

Under these plugs we unscrew the screws securing the frill.

Now, again, on the left side, unscrew several screws securing the insulation to the frill, as shown in the photo below.

After which you can remove one part of the frill:

Also, loosen the clamp bolt on the thin hose of the expansion tank and remove it from the hole in the insulation:

The engine compartment insulation is also attached from below, which is not very clearly visible, but in the photo below this screw is quite clearly visible.

Now you can lift the expander up and move the insulation section to the side, as shown in the photo below.

Now you can begin to unscrew the mounting nuts and bolts of the motor with the trapezoid. Top left:

And top right:

But to get to the trapezoid mounting bolt in the bottom center, you must first unscrew and remove the expansion tank mounting bracket. Two mounting bolts are located on top, as can be seen in the photo:

And two more bolts on the inside of the wing, of course, after first removing the fender liner.

Now the platform can be removed and the last bolt securing the Priora trapezoid can be unscrewed.

Now we carefully remove the entire assembly, finding the desired position so that the trapezoid does not cling to the body and heater housing.

There is still one thing left to do - disconnect the block with the power wiring harness.

Now the entire trapeze assembly with the motor can be removed without any problems.
